My cat's suffering finally ended the morning after I made that post. Also, my best friend left for boot camp this Monday. I'm feeling pretty bummed out.

What do you guys think of this festival? It's in NYC:
That's a pretty good lineup. I see you didn't put a heart next to Rosetta. Have you listened to them before? They're good. I'd like to go if I only had a ride there. I still hope to see Black Tusk when they play at the Loft along with Thou. My friend's band Ecco 3 is playing that night. They're a really good instrumental band. I watched the one video they have up on youtube and the drummer surprised me.

And em, I don't really know Dillinger Escape Plan. So I can't tell. I just listed my personnal favorites.
They're pretty good. I like Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants. I think they're considered to be mathcore.
You are right. Ani shouldn't have said that most bands put their best track at the end of the album. But take progressive bands like Dream Theater, will Learning To Live and Symphony X with The Odyssey. These two tracks are amazing tracks, closing amazing albums :)
Yeah, well those still aren't the best tracks on those albums. I think Metropolis pt. 1 and the Inferno are the best songs on those albums.
Ulver - Nowhere/Catastrophe
awesome song

Anyone love Dubstep? It's making me very happy right now.
dubstep can be good. I don't know much dubstep that I like, though. Breakage has done some nice dubstep like Rain, but a lot of his stuff is more like dnb. One of my friends started making dubstep. I heard his dubstep remix of Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People. Bassnectar counts, right?
Don't forget Black Label Society, Meshuggah, CKY, Cro-Mags and Watain.
I honestly don't know much from those bands. I know Zakk Wylde more for what he's done with Derek Sherinian.

I forgot about this band. Honestly, I remember liking them more. Now, though, meh.

Every Dream Theater album ever recorded
Dude, no freaking way.
When Dream and Day Unite - Ytse Jam
Images and Words - Metropolis Pt. 1
Awake - Erotomania
a Change of Seasons - a Change of Seasons (though the big medley is great)
Falling Into Infinity - New Millenium and Hell's Kitchen
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - uhh...I got nothing
Scenes From a Memory - Overture 1928, Strange Deja Vu, and Home
Train of Thought - Stream of Consciousness
Octavarium - okay, maybe the title track is the best, but I'm also leaning towards Panic Attack and I Walk Beside You
Systematic Chaos - in the Presence of Enemies Part One and Two are both good, but I think I'll go with part one.
Symphony X's The Odyssey
Inferno, Wicked, and King of Terrors
Symphony X's V - The New Mythology Suite
The last track is indeed sick, but I'd rather listen to Egypt or the Death of Balance. I love the percussion in that one and how it switches up.
Queensryche's Empire
Really? Anybody Listening? I think Best I Can, Della Brown, and Silent Lucidity are so much better.
Cynic's Focus
I think the Veil of Maya is the best on Focus.
All four Atheist albums
I dunno. Some of my favorites of theirs would be Mother Man and I Deny.
Every Death album with the exception of Human
eh, I think the best on the Sound of Perseverance is Scavenger of Human Sorrow or maybe Bite the Pain.
Pantera's Cowboys From Hell
The last track is awesome, but I think the Sleep is even better.
I do agree that there are a lot of albums that end with a great song and sometimes they can be the best, but there are also a lot of albums that begin with their strongest song.

Oh yeah, a four second song was the best part of Blues for the Red Sun.
Oh, come on. That's not fair. Clearly "Yeah" doesn't count.
Also, you guys could do with a bit more civility in your debates, especially when it's over something that isn't a big deal at all. I mean maybe neither of you guys mind the tone that the other is using, but I dunno.

Also, rec me some awesome metal.
I'll try to recommend some more obscure stuff that deserbes to be better known.
Do you like thrash? There's a Chilean thrash metal band with a seriously badass album called Criaturas del Mal. I've been kinda pushing them on people here.
Or if you like black metal, there's a pretty sweet Mexican black metal band that has a folkish sound and they have an ancient Mayan theme to them.
Apokatastasia is a great, unique sounding band that I recommended to Duff a while ago. If you like the prettier side of metal like Agalloch and such, you'll probably like their album Shedding. It's a criminally underrated album. fantastic.
If you're interested at all in avant-garde metal, Solefald, Arcturus, Ved Buens Ende, and Virus are great bands for starters.
And for stoner/sludge type stuff, you must listen to Keelhaul. And for a more atmospheric, trippy example, check out Ufomammut. That right there is the ultimate tree music.

Mirrorthrone. And his random other projects.
I'm pretty sure you disagree with me on this, but I think Gangrene is the best Mirrorthrone album, and No One By My Side and So Frail are the best songs on it. Your favorite is Carriers of Dust, though, because it has a Scream to Express the Hate of a Race, right?

Eh, I think all of Queensryche from their formation to Empire is amazing. haha
I've been meaning to check out Promised Land because even though a lot of people don't seem to like it, it still has DeGarmo, and if he wasn't the heart and soul of the band, he was at least one or the other. Plus I've heard a few people say that a lot of people are a bit on hard on it.
Anybody Listening? is my all time favorite Queensryche song though.
To each their own, but I find it odd that you'd prefer that over Anarchy X, Revolution Calling, Operation Mindcrime, Speak, Spreading the Disease, Della Brown, Empire, Silent Lucidity, and Best I Can. Also, I must admit I still have not heard anything before Operation Mindcrime. I'm under the impression that it's not quite the same style as Mindcrime or Empire.

Am I metalling right?
I've never heard this or even heard of the composer. It sounds pretty neat. I've been wanting to get more into classical music. I have a collection of Vivaldi songs by Itzhak Perlman and I have some songs by Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. I'm interested in getting into Bella Bartok, Debussy, and more into Paganini and Mussorgsky. 24th Caprice and Bare Mountain are so awesome. I also love Aquarium by Camille Saint Saens.

Have you heard Dies Irae?
Meh, I can't really bring myself to appreciate Wagner that much. It's cool in movies and stuff, and while playing video games. Symphony X's version of Dies Irae is better, I'd say. Then again, I love metal versions of classical songs. I've got a lot of that. Another one I can't get into much is Tchaikovsky. It's better done by TSO, and it's nice to hear around Christmas.
Have any of you guys heard Manowar's version of Flight of the Bumblebee played on the piccolo bass? It's insane. Or have you heard any of the classical covers Mekong Delta has done, or Dark Moor's version of Vivaldi's Winter? Vitalij Kuprij has done some stuff, too, including straight piano covers.
