Don't be.
If anything, you made the better choice.
Why do I say that?
1.) You can download the albums for free, or at least until you have the money to buy them. You can't download a shirt.
2.) Those bands will gain zero publicity by buying their CDs, but if you go out in public a lot then they will potentially gain a little publicity from your shirts.
3.) If you bought directly from the band's sites or at shows, more money to the band.

That's not quite it. I'm all for improvisation, but as I said, playing it on keyboard when you can't do it on guitar isn't improvisation. Or at least not in the way I'm thinking of.
It's still improvisation. Now whether it's good or bad improvisation, is opinion.
I wouldn't mind some Iconoclast or Paradise lost, but I would really like to see at least ONE DWoT song, The witching hour.
I've attended three Symphony X shows so far (2007, 2008, 2011) and the only songs from before Paradise Lost I have seen are:
Of Sins And Shadows (3)
Sea Of Lies (1)
Smoke And Mirrors (1)
Church Of The Machine (1)
Through The Looking Glass (1)
Evolution - The Grand Design (1)
Inferno (2)
King Of Terrors (2)
The Odyssey (1)
And those were spread out among three shows. So yeah, not much old stuff. :/
