Just dropping by to say that I'm really liking the new Fleshgod Apocalypse album. Amazing stuff right there.

Whoa, holy fuck...when was the last time I posted here? Must have been eons ago.

Grave is coming here on September 3rd and I'll most likely go out to see them. I suppose that's one of the few things I have to look forward to.

I finally found an opportunity to hear the new Manilla Road album despite the CD not being shipped out just yet. The sound production has been one thing a fair amount have criticised the album for but their whole discography is full of odd sound productions anyway and this one actually feels very retro so I have to give them credit for that. Some songs will need time to get used to but overall, it's a doomier experience for the band and they can still write excellent songs three decades on.

The last time you came here, I probably requested you to post here more often. What about now? :P

I don't recall receiving such a request from you and I'm known to have a photographic memory, but okay.

Yeah, but I'd have said that for UFO, their best metal credential is that Doctor Doctor gets played before Iron Maiden come on stage at their gigs.

Get a fucking clue before speaking

Wow, that's an unexpected blow up.

According to iTunes, "Alice Cooper Goes To Hell", "The Eyes of Alice Cooper" and "The Last Temptation" are all Metal, though Brutal Planet is not. Personally, I'd say that Eyes and Brutal Planet are both pure metal, while some over zealous douche who has little idea called Hell metal, though you could take Last Temptation either way to be honest.

Let's not forget Dragontown, as that's between Planet and Eyes, so on the progression, plus the sound, I'd say it's metal.

Sounds like the complete opposite to me. Their riffs are amazing and they vary them up all the time in a single song. They give me that deep feeling that gives me chills...fuck yeah!

Maybe I should get a Dark Funeral shirt...

Metal-ABC: J - Jag Panzer

There don't seem to be that many bands that start with the letter J, so this choice isn't such a big surprise...

Gorguts - Faceless Ones

As much as I hate the term, this is one of the most 'brutal' songs I've heard that still manages to be really good.

There's definitely something going on with the self-titled album. It's an angry, chaotic and aggressive album that hasn't had its charm worn off 5 years after hearing it. Song examples are Relentless and Aftermath. Others may disagree but I find this to be the best SYL album out of them all.

Now, I listened to the songs you listed. Gonna check out the album tomorrow or something. Too tired right now... So, not really gonna make an opinion on it until I listen some more.

Question though... Whatever happened to guitar solos?

Besides, what should I do? Give her a head butt and yell METAL in her face?
SO anyway, hope you like the song and hope you feel better soon kiddo.

Well... I guess it's like Death Metal... There are several different branches on the Death Metal tree. Old-School Death Metal for an example, really isn't anything like Technical Death Metal.

Cool to know :) I bought the record on eBay and I hope I will get it soon. I won't listen to the tracks on YouTube or any other website before I get the hard copy in my hands. Last time I did this, it was for the last Agalloch album. Can't say I'm as excited as when Marrow Of The Spirit came out, but I'm really excpecting a great album from these guys.

In fact some I have been playing a LOT..some damn fine stuff and some ..well I will be giving a review of each song fairly soon and you can read my thoughts then.

Well, that's pretty cool :) If I can get you interrested in some of my favorite bands, I will be quite happy.

And before I go..been thinking about something for a while now.
Ozzy always said he wanted to be a Beatle...Ozzy, like Paul McCartney has played for the Queen.
Ozzy has cred and also is now accepted by damn near everyone and their grandmother.
Ozzy has become as big as Paul, if not bigger.

Can you be bigger then any of the Beatles? Not talking talent, skill or whatever... but celebrity.

Here is a thought...Ozzy and Paul get together and form a project...Black Beatle..don't laugh yet, hear me out..Ozzy on Vocals with Paul on Bass and Vocals, Ringo on drums, Tony on guitar..they only record 1 single..side A..Helter Skelter of course, logical choice and the closest Beatles came to Metal.

For some weird reason, that sounds like a great idea :)

Side B..Paranoid of course. Picture it, Ozzy garbling away Helter Skelter...Helter Skelter!!!!!!!! wanna fuck u world..love you all...then Paul singing Paranoid in his fine clean voice..funny sounding wouldn't it be? thing is, would make BILLIONS in sales..and thing is..I can see it actually happening one day which is kinda scary and cool at the same time...stranger things have happened in Music.

That's another great idea :) Try to convince them!

next post should be soon regarding the songs Duff man mentioned

Cool!

then be forewarned..gonna bombard you guys with a ton of stuff, thinking most of it you all may have not heard before..which is what it's about, sharing Metal with those who love Metal.

Still cool!

I pretty much gave up on them after Rise Of The Tyrant. I didn't knew they had released anything else after it before now (I just checked out on Metal Archives). And it seems that their most recent albums isn't very popular on MA. They only got two reviews, but so far... 44% of average... it's kind of low. Might have to check it out myself.

Benediction (preferably with Dave Ingram), Anaal Nathrakh, Hell, DRI (the first LP is fucking adrenaline), Eyehategod, and Type O' Negative. And if you actually need to calm down, Coil (not metal but yeah), Jesu, Fen, and Phlebotomized usually work for me.

Does anybody know some good modern tech-death bands (preferably ones that aren't commonly mentioned here or 100% obvious, like Fleshgod Apocalypse)? I mostly listen to old-school DM, and I kinda want to get an idea of how the modern stuff sounds.

If you want metal you'll probably want to go for My arms your hearse. Damnation is just acoustic and clean vocals and BWP is meh compared to everything else.

Although it's just good as an album I think Bleak is easily one of their best songs, if not their best.

Response to Metal Hell 2011-08-14 14:18:33

My opinions on each opeth album:

Orchid = Great progressive black metal
Morning Rise = Same as above, although I find the tracks a little less interesting. BUT "To Bid You Farewell" is a masterpiece.
MAYH = Great album
Still Life = amazing album
Blackwater Park = painfully overrated album, with "bleak" being the only GREAT song.
Deliverance = "Deliverance" and "A Fair Judgment" are both amazing songs. The rest of the album is okay, but nothing overly special.
Damnation = Really boring if you AREN'T in the zone, but absolutely amazing album if you are.
Ghost Reveries = Really good, but most people don't like this album much so I don't know what you guys think.
Watershed = Probably the best Opeth album behind Still Life and MAYH, absolutely incredible with a lot of innovative and almost avant-garde song writing and newly introduced sounds/techniques.

You know what guys? I love opeth, but i'm fucking sick of talking about them in this club. hahahaha It seems like they come up once every page.

In other news, I have a tragic story for you all...

This is the story of a young naive metalhead/punk whom listened to type o negative back in 2006 or 2007 and thought they sucked, had a chance to see them on their last EVER tour in late 2009 but decided not to reinvestigate their music and/or go, and has recently fallen deeply in love with every type o negative and carnivore album. :'(
