Hell yeah man. God if only people listened to Acid Bath. I swear to God it's wrong how Acid Bath isn't as big as they deserve to be. The music they wrote was genius. Suck so many pee-pees to see them live. Seriously Metal Hell LISTEN TO FUCKING ACID BATH!!!!!! Yeah I'm a big fan. Wish I was wearing my Acid Bath shirt.
We're meat and that's it. So lets fuck it, fuck it, fuck it.

Halfway through the year and I offer Opeth this week!
On another note, I tried to listen to In Flames' new album hoping that there'd be something decent from it but the only good thing that happened from 50 minutes of boredom was the intro for the rest track. The rest was dull. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised at this.

Well, that's a win for you. I didn't think of Metallica when I heard the song. All I could think of is Persistence of Time and that album has some overlooked songs of theirs.

Yeah, I was very disappointed with the album. Even though their last couple albums weren't great by any means, they still had several songs that I enjoyed. I can't even get that with this latest album.
In other news, I picked up Devin's Deconstruction yesterday. It kicks so much ass. So far this and Iconoclast are my two favorite albums that have been put out this year. I still need to pick up Devin's Ghost album though.

Hell, I didn't even try listening to their last few albums in their entirety and the songs I heard from Reroute to Remain and Soundtrack to Your Mistake were enough to put me off.

I've heard one track from Deconstruction as well as previews for all the songs and I'm liking what I've listened to so far. I've asked Deconstruction for my birthday and I might get Ghost with it as well. Ghost sounds good from what I've heard but I'd much rather get Deconstruction. As for Iconoclast, it's easily one of my favourites from this year as well. Other 2011 highlights so far include Turisas' Stand Up and Fight, Falconer's Armod, Falkenbach's Tiurida and Hell's Human Remains.

I wish they'd just get a touring bassist and do some more live shows, just so I have a chance to see them.
I dig Acid Bath, also. I have both of their albums and enjoy them, but I think When the Kite String Pops is the better of the two.

That isn't stoner metal. That's thrash.

So... I made my attempt to try out a drone metal album. It's Earth's latest album so it may not be the best example of drone metal but from what I heard it was alright. However, for future listens of this album, it might be that I'll only be able to listen to a song or two at a time and not the whole album... The same issue I have with Electric Wizard's Dopethrone.

That's one hell of a list man. Thanks, I'll check them out. I already know Bathory, Emperor, Windir, and Rotting Christ. Which ones on this list do you think is the best?

Does anybody know some good doom metal bands? Preferably with clean vocals, in vein of Scott Weinrich from Saint Vitus or Albert Witchfinder from Reverend Bizarre. Early Cathedral like vocals are welcome too, but nothing screamed or death growled. I want Doom, not sludge. All suggestions are much appreciated.

I can't suggest a lot because I don't know that much about Doom Metal yet. So since you are asking for clean vocals, I will suggest Katatonia and Warning. I remember that some members of the Metal Hell were pretty big on the album Watching From A Distance by the band Warning. This could be a good place to start. I also know that Katatonia's album Brave Murder Day is well appreciated by a lot of metalheads.
I hope I'm somewhat helpfull :)
Symphony X - Wicked
Adult Swim have the music video for one of Mastodon's song off their new album, Deathbound.
They're going back to their roots and I love it.

Really cool, wish they would explore the prog genre again though.

Well, the intro reminds me of Of Wolf and Man.

You fail.
Listen to Black Sabbath(obvious), Candlemass, Witchfinder General and maybe a little Pentagram! :D
Also, Acid Bath are REALLY popular.
Talk to a metalhead, a punk, a stoner or a hipster and chances are all of them have at least heard OF Acid Bath.
Legit, i've met people in Acid Bath shirts before who don't even like metal...

I didn't double-check, sorry for being so uncool. I just remembered that some Katatonia albums had clean vocals and didn't take the time to make sure Brave Murder Day was one of them. Sorry if I'm so unworthy of your awesome teenage coolness.

Because Saint Vitus and Katatonia sound so alike. Amirite?
Even Katatonia with clean vocals sounds NOTHING like Saint Vitus. At all.

Yeah, for saint vitus esque bands.
Katatonia has not one element in common with Saint Vitus.
I don't know Warning at all, so I can't comment on them.

For the vocals, that's what he asked for the vocals. But then he said anything is welcome. Sorry if I missinterpreted his words.
And now for something to make Duff happy:
Blotted Science = FUCKING AWESOME! I just heard the whole of this and this is the sort of extreme instrumental album I've been looking for! Too bad I didn't ask this for my 21st birthday.

Their first and only album is the single album I've listenned to the most in my entire life. Well, based on the amount of plays I have for it on last.fm, but I don't know if when it comes to album lenght it is still the album I've listenned to the most. Anyway, it's a great album.
On his DVD, Ron Jarzombeck explains the structure of the track Oscillation Cycles. Just listenning to the music, you can realise how much of an awesome song-writter and musician he is. But when you really understand the structure, the progression, chord patterns and writting process... you can't do anything else but admit that this guy is a genius.
Too bad they only released one album... I've been craving for a second album, for ages !!!
Blotted Science - Synaptic Plasticity
I'm perfectly content with only one Blotted Science album.
I can't exactly see them progressing their style or changing much over time, so one album works. And it's really long too.
I hate to say it, but if they released more albums they would become boring and uninspired very fast.

Seing how Ron Jarzombeck managed to release awesome and very different albums with Watchtower, Spastic Ink, Blotted Science and his own solo project, I can't seem to understand how you can even imagine that their music could become generic.

Ron Jarzombeck really never lacks any inspiration. Until he does release some boring generic copy+paste of one of his previous albums, you can't proove me wrong... So far, he managed to always bring something new with every album he released. Only his solo album sounds a little less interresting then his other projects to me.
Seing how he managed to have such strong ambiences and stick to one big theme throughout the whole album without even becoming redundant, I don't see why he couldn't come up with a new conceptual album with a new theme and impress us again.
Blotted Science - Night Terror
I'm not referring to the members individually, but rather the style of Blotted Science as a whole.
It's already at the pinnacle of perfection, can you imagine any change which ISN'T in a negative direction?

It's a strange way to understand things that you have. It's not like they are holding a sheet of paper in their hands on which you have everything they used to create Machinations Of Dementia, starting with "Awesome drummings". Now they would be trying to see what they could do to change the awesome drummings so they don't sound exactly the same on the next record.
There is not just one way to write good Progressive "Death Metal influenced" Metal.
If you listen to Machinations Of Dementia, you can easily hear what they were trying to do. The whole concept of the album was to bring you inside the chaotic minds of the "patients" of the band. I'll post a picture of a page you can find in the album booklet. My English is kind of weird tonight and I can't seem to express myself as I would like to. So just read the text on the picture.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that they could come up with something along the lines of The Machinations Of Dementia without making it a boring copy of it. They tried to make this sound like something that would go on in some crazy dude's mind. What about a new theme? Something they could use to build their new tracks around?
Blotted Science - Sleep Deprivation
Btw guys, I just hit a 1000 plays for Blotted Science on last.fm :)
So The Machinations Of Dementia is also the first album I get a 1000 plays for !!!

OH GIMME YOUR MONEY. [Insert jew joke here]
