Maiden rocks plenty hard...
My review of Manilla Road's The Deluge is up! As always CC welcome!
Also, June is going to be awesome. First, Symphony X releases their new album and then a few days later, Devin Townsend is releasing two new albums! W00T!

Another great review for Manilla Road's albums. I've heard many good things about The Deluge and hearing the title track on Roadkill only makes me want the album even more. I'm very grateful for the re-release from Shadow Kingdom Records which I've already placed an order on.

Sorry about the link error. Don't know what happened. But yeah, The Deluge is probably my favorite Manilla Road album as of now. It keeps shifting for me between this, Crystal Logic, and Spiral Tower.

My favourites from Manilla Road are Crystal Logic and Atlantis Rising. Spiral Castle is an interesting choice. My only gripe with that album is how the mid tracks don't seem as recognisable as the other tracks. Hell, you've got an acoustic instrumental with a violin solo for the album closer. You can't forget a track like that.

I'm starting to think so. I don't have any of their stuff yet, but I want to get an album.
So I'm done with school :)
Schooooooool's out for summer !!!
Oh wait... that song sucks... nevermind!

I like it. :(
On 4/20 there was a guy with a viking helmet wearing a Dopesmoker shirt who was throwing free grilled cheese sandwiches from an army duffle bag. I got like three for saying that I though Dopesmoker was sick.

Dude, it's fucking insane. This shit is really good. You are really good. I want to download everything you've made and put it on my iPod.
Only criticism I have is the drums sound too electronic because they're not real. And that's all.

That's an interesting story. You win 50 internets for being interesting. The thread needs that shit.
Guys, brace yourself for my bands Night Goat cover :)
This thread lacks the discussion of K. K. Downing retiring from Judas Priest. Sucks that he left just before the Epitaph tour. Infact, it's odd he left just before the retirement tour.

Speaking of people leaving and cancelling tours...
Jeff Loomis has retired from Nevermore and the Aus tour has been cancelled :(
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Hey guys! It's been a few months, have all you been?
Oh boy I have two shows to tell you about!
Friday I went to see Sepultura, Belphegor, Hate, Keep Of Kalessin, Neuraxis and Bonded By Blood:
BBB didn't show up, their bus broke down or something. Whatever though, i've seen them before.
Neuraxis were AWESOME like they were when I saw them in 2009, but this time their vocalist kept doing really obnoxious things on stage with his hands and stuff. It was unsettling to watch.
Keep Of Kalessin were good, but nothing to write home about. I'm convinced these guys get more respect than they deserve.
Hate was sweet, but not as good as when I saw them with Hypocrisy last year! Still really good though.
Belphegor was shit like always, awful band is awful.
SEPULTURA WERE INCREDIBLE. Their setlist included Arise, Meaningless Motions, Inner Self, Escape To The Void, Troops Of Doom, Septic Schizo, Territory, Refuse/Resist, Ratamahatta and Roots Bloody Roots! That's ten classic songs! They also played seven or eight post-max cavalera songs which I don't know the names of, but it wasn't that bad! And their current vocalist isn't anywhere NEARLY as bad in real life as he is on recording. hahaha
And last night, I saw Symphony X, Powerglove, Blackguard and In Harm's Way:
In Harm's Way was basically a local power metal band, very sonata arctica worship-esque and overall nothing special at all. They had sick solos though.
Blackguard were awful like always. God damn they suck, how do they land on so many tours? They're just COB worship meets Finntroll worship. Oh well, they sucked.
Powerglove were greeeeeeeeeeat, their setlist consisted of Tetris, Mario Minor, Red Wings Over Baron, Gotta Catch Em All, Power Rangers, Omnrished and Storm Eagle! :D (Not in order)
Symphony X was incredible as well, their setlist was:
1. Of Sins And Shadows
2. Domination
3. The Serpent's Kiss
4. End Of Innocence (NEW)
5. Paradise Lost
6. Smoke And Mirrors
7. Eve Of Seduction
8. Dehumanized (NEW)
9. Set The World On Fire
ENCORE:
10. The Odyssey
And I was so happy, it's my third time seeing SX but my first time seeing The Odyssey or Smoke And Mirrors, so I was happy. <3
Guys, i'm fucking appalled at you all. I just browsed the past few pages.
NO mention AT ALL about Nevermore? Jeff Loomis and Van Williams both left Nevermore not even a week ago!
Or do you guys not like progressive metal or thrash metal?
R.I.P. Nevermore, 1991-2011.
They haven't disbanded, but they might as well - now the band consists of two members, not five...

*Eleven songs, they also played Dead Embryonic Cells but I forgot. haha

April hasn't been a good month for metal. Many major lineup changes have happened. The bassist in Melechesh left, the Kamelot singer left the band and there's no more John Cyriis in Agent Steel.
At 4/24/11 02:07 PM, AniMetal wrote: SEPULTURA WERE INCREDIBLE.
I have to be honest with you, I've pretty much blanked them out after Cavalera left. I only have a few Sepultura albums and I'm sure I'm content with them.
ENCORE:
10. The Odyssey
That, is awesome! That's all I can say.

Actually, Oppugnant brought up the departures of the Nevermore members a few posts ago. ;)

Finally got around to listening to Ensiferum's Iron. Solid album, I already had a good idea of what I really liked on it but it's good to have heard it in it's entirety too.
Thinking about getting either Sagas, Perdition City, or Demigod next.
NEW SYMPHONY X SONG, I saw them play it - pretty solid live as well!

They were, but it wasn't this summer - it was the tour that started two days ago and ends next month.
They dropped off the tour last minute and the basically disbanded.

After Roots they suck, that's why.
But their first six albums are all great.

Didn't see it. XD

Yeah, sorry about that. I feel like it's summer now because I'm through with school, but I know it's still spring. Damn! I really wanted to see these two bands play live on the same set...
Any clue on who is going to replace them?

I say you get Perdition City, first. Then get Sagas, and never get Demigod.

Considering has I just made a post saying I saw the tour, yeah I do. ;P
It went from: 80 minutes of SX, 60 of Nevermore, 30 of powerglove and 30 of blackguard TO 100 or so of SX, 45 for Pglove, 45 for shitguard and a local band with a 30 minute set.

Evil. Never. DIIIIIIIIIIIIIES!
By the way HeavenDuff, I finally got round to getting Bongripper's Satan Worshipping Doom from my sister and I've enjoyed it a lot. For an album that has one hell of a track list, one of the trippiest album artworks ever made and having all four songs being 10+ minute instrumentals, that's a lot of greatness in one album.
At 4/24/11 08:17 PM, AniMetal wrote:At 4/24/11 02:57 PM, Bahamut wrote: I have to be honest with you, I've pretty much blanked them out after Cavalera left. I only have a few Sepultura albums and I'm sure I'm content with them. After Roots they suck, that's why.

Hopefully you're counting Bestial Devastation as one of those albums. Otherwise that means Roots is a good album and that was the album that made me turn against nu-metal. Well, to be fair I haven't listened to their EP but surely it's better than Roots. I'd like to know how good the debut album and Schizophrenia are because I've put them aside for so long and the last time I bought a Sepultura album was 4 years ago.

Yeah well, that's what I was expecting... longer sets for the other bands. It's still not quite the same. And please, leave Blackguard alone, these guys are doing a fine job on their scene.

It is definitely one of my favorite albums of the genre. Not that I know a lot of Doom Metal... but this, I know I really like :) The 4th track is a little slower to get one. More drony then doomy, if you ask mey. The three first tracks are amazing from 0:00 to the end.
