Their mos recent album... is amazing !!! One of the best albums I've listenned to in my life, best album of 2011 so far :)

You guys are talking about relaxing music :O I say ISIS and Agalloch are quite relaxing, even during the heavy parts. Growls and heavy riffs do not bother me at all.

I like actually quite a bit of what you like. I LOVE Fleshgod Apocalypse and Blood Red Throne. And you introduced me to both of those. Oh, and Blotted Science too. Anyways, I like pretty much any death metal genre. Modern, old school, whatever. Just need a list of bands I should check out.

I didn't really get into any new Death Metal that is worth it recently...
Anyway, I was just messing around on last.fm, until I found this. Enjoy :)

Actually, Bongripper's latest album was released in mid 2010.

Well Metal Hell, I live in Portugal, where the only Portuguese band known in my country is Moonspell, so I feel that I must post here some cool Metal bands from Portugal that maybe you guys don't know.
Heavenwood - Gothic Metal
The Firstborn - Avant-Garde Black Metal
Löbo - Atmospheric Sludge/Doom Metal
Bosque - Funeral Doom Metal
Morte Incandescente - Black Metal
Corpus Christii - Black Metal
Atomik Destruktor - Thrash Metal
Tarsish - Gothic/Death Metal
Arachula - Black/Death Metal
You should also check out Ecos they're an Experimental/Noise/Drone band, not metal but very cool.

The only Portuguese band that's familiar to me is Ironsword and they're a rather unknown band. As for Moonspell, I listened to them once but never got back to them.

He reached the Legend Rank of the Deathcore scene. Didn't you know that you can calculate the prestige of their followers by the size of their stretchs.

All of their songs are ripped off from other songs, only the lyrics are changed.
As far as modern black metal goes I like Watain
I figure they deserve a mention since I haven't seen them mentioned yet in the discussion.

Meh.
I remember hearing that a few of, if not all of their members are from another band Thunderbolt

Lol that actually made me lol.

Well we finally finished a new song. I really appreciate some reviews from my metal brothers.
When I die. It will be in a blaze of glory.
Yeah, we know Strapping Young Lad. I know I should re-listen to their stuff. If you like their stuff, go listen to Devin Townsend Project and Devin Townsend Band :)
At 3/23/11 01:16 AM, Xarnor wrote: Anyone here listen to much Strapping Young Lad? They've got a chaotic style that I love. According to MA, they are Death/Thrash Metal with Industrial Influences. If you're looking for something crazy or different, give them a listen. City, Alien, and The New Black are the albums I have, they're all great.
Shitstorm is one song of theirs that I would recommend to anyone, simply because I find it fascinating. It's insane, but not in a bad "LOL RANDOM SHIT" way, it's in a good musically insane way, in my opinion anyways.
'Insane' is definitely a good word to describe most of their music.
Yep, we know them. Most people here agree that they kick ass (I'm not speaking for everyone, that just seems to be the consensus). I suggest trying to get their other two albums, SYL and Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing. You have their best 3, but those 2 are pretty good. I also second Duff's recomendation of The Devin Townsend Project and The Devin Townsend Band if you like SYL.

Strapping Young Lad are really pretty good and Devin Townsend has a great voice, either singing or growling. The band has almost a technical sound sometimes, though. Great riffs.
Great show last night for Sonata Arctica! I'll be writing up about the show later on!
At 3/23/11 01:16 AM, Xarnor wrote: Anyone here listen to much Strapping Young Lad?
Heck yeah! I've got all their albums. The one album that sticks out the most is self-titled. Gotta love the consistent chaos it has. It only slows down for the last song.
I still need to get more albums by Devin Townsend himself. I only have Ziltoid so far.
You guys should checkout Sinister. OSDM from the Netherlands. Fucking awesome. Been a long time but I listened to Hate by them today.
SO FUCKING GOOD.
Oh yeah, tiny female vocalist in the link, so worth checking out if you're into female DM vocalists.
While we are at it Dalnaki... It's funny how every single band of Modern Death Metal is always "generic" in your opinion.
Then you just post links to OSDM and it's the same kind of riffing all the time...
Dude, I think you just don't understand the meaning of "generic". Something is not generic just because you don't like it. It's funny that you called Cannibal Corpse generic... and that you said Fleshgod Apocalypse was generic and boring. I can't even count the number of Old-School Death Metal bands I find boring and empty of any kind of personnality...
You see, Aeon is a generic Death Metal band, not the bands I've listed...
If some band makes something great and that other bands start copying them, that doesn't make the first band generic just because all the other bands sounds like them.
So, I'm trying to explain some guys why metalcore/deathcore is not metal, but I'm feeling that I'm not really able to argue, what should I say to prove it? I don't want to say because only scene kids listen to it and stuff like that, I need musical proofs.
One guy showed me a song from Sick of it All, an Hardcore Punk band, Cannibal Corpse and Job For A Cowboy, and I can't say they're now a Death Metal band because the song he showed me is from the first album. He then told me to compare the songs, and say with which band does JFAC sounds more like. And, in fact, even with the core sound, they sound much more like Cannibal Corpse, and I'm not concerned with Cannibal Corpse's quality, they're a Death Metal band, that's what I'm concerned with.
Liberals defend the exploitation of man by man, Conservatives defend the reverse.

Well, when deathcore bandss aren't ripping each other off, they're usually ripping off Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation, and adding core and pointless breakdowns. Not a big deal, really.
I demand the setlist from that Sonata Arctica concert.
I've seen SA six times over the past seven years, but the very last time I saw them in april last year their setlist was totally shit. (By that I mean, Days Of Grays was played in almost entirety and silence was 100% ignored)
At 3/23/11 02:40 AM, HeavenDuff wrote: go listen to Devin Townsend Project and Devin Townsend Band :)
It's just the devin townsend project, it isn't two things.
Also Ocean Machine is great, even though they only had one album.
And it was re-released like a decade later under the name of "the devin townsend project" so must DT fans here probably already have it.

R.I.P. Frankie Sparcello, bassist of Exhorder! The Law will always be a better album then ANYTHING Pantera released after Cowboys From Hell!

Don't matter, Cannibal Corpse suck major balls these days. In my opinion they were beter with Chris Barnes.

I knew this is going to happen, I don't care about Cannibal Corpse quality, I care about a deathcore JFAC song that sounds more like Death Metal than Hardcore Punk. Because that makes me able to say that deathcore is Death Metal + Hardcore and not Hardcore with death metal influences such as distortion and drumming.

You people seem to have a misconception as to what hardcore is.
Some hardcore bands are Black Flag, Minor Threat, Propagandhi, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Municipal Waste, Agnostic Front, Carnivore, Social Distortion, Pro-Pain, Blood For Blood, etc.
The only hardcore bands I EVER hear that have had any influence on metalcore or deathcore are hatebreed and earth crisis - and both those bands suck dick.

You'll eventually stop being surprised by it. Most people probably think hardcore is shit like Emmure. I wouldn't be surprised.

Municipal Waste and Carnivore are thrash. Both meh worthy.
Agnostic Front, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Discharge, and Minor Threat should be mandatory listen for people talking about hardcore before they open their ignorant mouths.

Hahahaha. Of course they suck. They influenced deathcore. I wouldn't expect good bands to have any influence on deathcore, Suffocation aside. And they like Suffocation for the wrong reassons, so it doesn't really matter.
