Whatever the fuck you say. I don't have to share all your tastes in music.

Fucking MA... coming from both a mega power and mega thrash metal fan - these guys are neither of those genres. (Although i'm judging off only two songs)

These girls, actually. Don't know if you are listenning to the good band. Cause they definitely play Thrash Metal or have heavy Thrash Metal influences. Some of their riffs remind me of 80's Metallica.

Symphonic Black Metal/Metalcore genre
Reread this and realize the countless loads of fail that that is.

I know that to some of you guys, there is no kind of possibility to mix metalcore and metal, but that's definitely what these guys are doing. They have a shit load of black metal blastbeats in their music, lot's of "gothic/symphonic" keys, and a lot of tremolo picking riffs... Come on! Listen to Empyrean: Into The Cold Wastes, and tell me this track doesn't have any kind of SBM elements...

Yeah, the second track might be "more metal" than the first one, but dude... you really are pushing this a little too far. Do you ever listen to any Old School Death Metal?

I listen to some Old School Death Metal, but I don't see how that's relevant much since Modern Death metal sounds completely different anyway. I'm just saying, new JFAC sounds closer to new Decapitated to me than any deathcore bands.

inb4 huge shitstorm about me comparing them to Decapitated.

Dunno man... even some modern dm bands tend to follow that chug-chug sweep-sweep chug-chug kind of riffing...

Like I said, newest JFAC sounds somewhat like Beneath The Massacre.

Actually, they're death/thrash. Fits the bill perfectly for what he wanted.

Modern death metal sucks. Overpolished, mechanical piles of shit that misses what made OSDM so great. Of course, there are some good modern DM bands. That goes without saying. You're just better off disregarding the majority of it.

I really would like to have your opinion on some Modern Death Metal bands. Ever since you started posting in here I was puzzled by your opinions on Death Metal and why you disliked mdm so much and liked osdm so much.

So there's my list, if you don't feel like reviewing them, just tell me, it doesn't matter :)
(Btw, these are not all bands that I like, some of them I really hate in fact, but these are all taken from my library, so it will be easy to listen to any of these to understand why you don't like them) (* for my personnal favorites) (+ for those I like a little more than just decent bands) (- for those I don't like)

Aeon (-)
Behemoth (-)
Benighted (*)
Blood Red Throne (*)
Blotted Science (Not really dm, but what do you think of them anyway) (*)
Braindrill (I really had to throw this one in)
Cannibal Corpse
Cryptopsy (+)
Cynic (*)
Death (You do not really need to review this one)
Decapitated (* Winds Of Creation)
Decrepit Birth
Deeds Of Flesh
Demilich
Down From The Wound (Shitty Slam Death bullshit... - - -)
Fleshgod Apocalypse (*)
Gorod (+)
Kronos (+)
Necrophagist
Nile (+)
Obscura
Onirik (+)
Origin (*)
Panzerchrist
Spawn Of Possession
Suffocation (for their most recent work)

Here you go. You don't need to review them all, it's just a list I'm throwing in :)

The sad thing is that Beneath the Massacre and other Deathcore bands is that occasionally they come up with some good riffs and then ruin them by putting them in generic BREE BREE CHUGGA CHUGGA songs. Like so.

Also, does anyone here listen to Dark Moor? I was wondering which album I should get first.

Excuse the double post but that song is also relevant to this post.

The middleish part of the song is pretty good I think, but everything around it is garbage.

Alright, but I'm not good at reviewing.

Behemoth (-)

Behemoth is really generic DM. Or blackened death metal. Whatever. Still generic. Don't have the willpower to listen to a full album of theirs.

Blotted Science (Not really dm, but what do you think of them anyway) (*)

They're ok, I liked some of what I heard, but they're not something I would listen to a lot. Not really my thing, I'd have to say. I don't know what else to say other than that. I like the bass, though.

Braindrill (I really had to throw this one in)

I hope they all get gangrene and have to have their arms amputated.

Cannibal Corpse

They set the standard for generic DM. They don't really hold my interest enough to really comment on their music.

Cryptopsy (+)

Never really listened to Cryptopsy. Didn't care from them what I remember, and I don't care for them now.

Cynic (*)

I really like the Cynic demos. Wonderful thrashy DM. Dislike Focus. Makes me think of shallow lounge jazz whenever I listen. If I'm going to listen to jazzy DM, I'd rather listen to Creepmime. I haven't heard any of their new stuff. Well, I think I heard the Re-Traced EP but don't remember.

Death (You do not really need to review this one)

I really like the first album. You know my views on the rest.

Decapitated (* Winds Of Creation)

Don't really care for Decapitated. I don't really remember enough about that album to say anything about their music, other than it bored me.

Demilich

I love Demilich. Nespithe is one of my all time favorite albums, if that means anything. Demos are worth hearing, too. Good shit.

Down From The Wound (Shitty Slam Death bullshit... - - -)

No thanks. I try to keep away from slam death.

Fleshgod Apocalypse (*)

I'm starting to remember why I don't like techdeath. There's not much substance, if any to it.

Gorod (+)

Gorod bores me. Bree bree.

Necrophagist

Fuck Necrophagist. I wonder if Necrophagist had never formed, would there be less techdeath? Probably not, but I can dream.

Nile (+)

Blah. I haven't listened to Nile since I first started getting into DM, but I remember thinking that they were really generic and I quit listening to the album after the first two songs. So, I just listened to a song by them now. (Annihilation of the Wicked if you're wondering) Pretty boring. Skipped throughout the song for about a minute. Eh. Not going to listen to Nile again.

Obscura

I remember listening to Obscura and laughing at how soft they were. I wouldn't call them death metal. They don't have the aggressiveness or the heaviness.

Onirik (+)

Black metal? Am I listening to the right one? That's the only Onirik youtube has. If so, don't really like it. If I'm going to listen to black metal like that, I'd rather listen to Drudkh.

Panzerchrist

Now I want to listen to Angelcorpse (you should listen, too). Meh. I don't really like it, but it sounds pretty good after so much techdeath.

Suffocation (for their most recent work)

Don't really like it. Probably because it makes me think of Meshuggah for some reason. Yeah, I don't know either. Did you know their drummer has a hip-hop project? Worth checking out. Pretty good from what I remember. Sample heavy, though. If I remember right.

I'll give you an example of some techdeath I like. I don't listen to much techdeath, but here's a band that I was heavily into a year ago. They're from Poland. Worth noting, because they're one of the few Polish DM bands that doesn't worship Vader.

Thanks Dalnaki, though I still have to disagree for Fleshgod Apocalypse. They are not your typical wankers. Their riff progression, ambience, personnality and technique is really unique. Especially their full lengt Oracles.

420 bro.

I've been thinking about this lately....

I thought that when I'll be through with University I could start myself a band. Something like Bongripper and Electric Wizard. I like Stoner Doom Metal.

I like singing, growling and grunting. I would take care of the lyrics and vocals, and also the song-writting, but would of course need the help of a guitarist. My lyrical themes would be a mix of Stoner Metal themes and some Fantastic stuff like Lord Of The Rings and other novels like this. I thought it would really be awesome to get to mix fantastic tales with some dopesmoking :)

I'll give my thoughts on them in a day or so. Never listened to Exhumed much, but I love Carcass worship. I suppose it's a time for a relisten. Speaking of Carcass worship, you ever listen to The County Medical Examiners? Band of licensed doctors. Their bassist is in his mid 60s.

Death metalizing pop songs has become cliché at this point but the Death Metal Friday song is still tons better than the original one. I can't even get myself to listen to the original version.

Mainstream doesn't necessarily mean shit.

DB and COF is just trendie "LOL SYMPHONIC LOL GOTHIC DEATH METALZ"

Dimmu Borgir has nothing to do with gothic metal in my opinion. Yeah it's Symphonic Black Metal, early Dimmu Borgir is really good in my opinion, I still like some of their latest stuff, but that's me.

Cradle of Filth I think they can be labeled gothic metal or something. The only albums I really like are The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and Midian.

Lamb OF God is basically borderline metalcore, people just call them groove metal to feel better than themselves.

That's one opinion, but core or no I like them.

Pantera's 80's stuff along with cowboys from hell is great, but vulgar display onwards is shit.

Meh, I like Vulgar Display of Power and Cowboys From Hell.

Machine Head's first two albums are kickass and their latest album is pretty good too, just avoid everything in between.

I like the first album. The second one I like it but not as the first one, and I really like the last one and some track on Through the Ashes of Empires.

metallica's first four albums are awesome.

I like the first 5 and Death Magnetic. Load and Reload are not thrash but trash, there are only some tracks I enjoy as an Hard Rock fan too. St. Anger is fucking painfull, Frantic is ridiculous, but I like the titletrack and The Unnamed Feeling anyway. Also, St. Anger was the first album from Metallica that I've ever listened to, I took it from my brothers CD's and I loved it, but when I got into more Metallica stuff, a lot of time later, I realised the shit I was listening to. My brother loves it, he says the drums are unique because of that trash can effect, well he has the right to like it.

Apart from Weight by Isis, which you should just chill to right now.

I find stuff by Agalloch, Isis, Pelican , Tides and Earth relaxing, and there's lots of bits of stoner and sludge stuff that's relaxing in a way, like Ufomammut and Om and Bongripper. It has an effect on me that just kinda spaces me out and makes me go ....buuuuuuuh.....Have you ever heard Ivixor B/Phase Inducer by Electric Wizard? I also think of some stuff by Maudlin of the Well and Kayo Dot in a similar way, and then there's other stuff by them that's just plain nice.

Check this out.

And have you listened to Aarni?

Actually, there's even a track by a somewhat experimental death metal band that I find relaxing. (The rest of the album is cool, too)

And the Soundbyte is a nice band. They're on the Metal Archives, but they're not really so metal.

Some stuff by Virus is kinda chill-ish, too, to me, anyway. Road, for example.

There are a lot of chill songs by bands that normally play metal that I really like, such as Barb Wire Smile by Fleurety, Yet Another Armageddon and Midnight Crisis by Lux Occulta, Interface by Canvas Solaris, Rigsthula and My Prayer Beyond Ginnungagap by Blut Aus Nord, the remix of the Tranquilizer Song by Sigh, the Intro to Voices of Omens by Rwake, Mellomspell by Myrkgrav, Farewell by Boris, etc. etc. etc.

Speaking of which, I just started the album Wyltt by Black Math Horseman and the first track, Tyrant, is pretty chill so far. dark, though. I'm liking it.
