Very good review! Crystal Logic is easily one of my favourite Manilla Road albums right now. The very favourite I'm not sure of but I often finding myself craving to listen to the title track, Necropolis, The Riddle Master and a few others.

Oh yeah, the band that has wives of Dream Theater members. I've come across the band info page a few times but never recall the name. I do want to find more bands with good female vocals. There has to be more than just Hammers of Misfortune who have good female singers.

CRYSTAL VIPER CRYSTAL VIPER CRYSTAL VIPER! They have a very kickass female singer and they play cool traditional heavy metal. Also, if you can find their only album Znowhite is pretty cool. Thrash band with female vocals.

Just got back from seeing Shrapnel, Evile and Chthonic.
Shrapnel were pretty uninteresting Slayer worship, not much to say about them.
Evile were good as always, they played a new song called Eternal Empire, which I didn't particularly like, I hope their new album doesn't follow suit.
Chthonic were pretty damn awesome, I felt the mix was done very badly though, I could barely hear the guitar, and the bass and keyboard were almost impossible to hear.
For reference the ticket cost £12.
Also, Doris Yeh is the hottest female in metal.
I think I just died from sheer awesomeness, this is the first preview of Demonaz's band.

I didn't know about this. It's awesome. And it's released on my 18th birthday.

It's not just about female vocalists. It's about female musicians. We all know they can sing, but can they play instruments? Well these girls prooved that there is at least a few girls who know how to handle the guitars and drums.
At 3/18/11 01:36 PM, batman64 wrote: That is what I am talking about, the well known bands.
Bands like Megadeth, Ozzy, The big names in general.
I wanted to see Megadeth a couple years ago but they wanted 75 bucks.
The big ones are somewhat greedy... Plus, they know they will go sold out even if the ticket's price is so high.
I am sorry but I cannot justify paying that much for 2-3 hours of entertainment.
Damn! Then I guess you don't go to sports events! Here in Montreal, to get a seat in the lower sections ranges from 85 bucks to 150. And you usually don't go alone... Plus, there is no guarantee that you are going to enjoy what you see.
Granted there are still plenty of bands who keep their prices reasonable but when I see bands getting 75 bucks and more for a concert ticket I have a problem.
Same here.
And then I have Rotting Christ playing down the road from me this Sunday for 20 bucks along with Melechesh, Hate, Abigail Williams, Lecherous Nocturne as well as being a 16+ show . Now that is a bargain in my eyes.
That's just great :) 5 bands for 20 bucks !!!
And next month Amon Amarth play the same club, 25 bucks to see them play 2 sets.
I wanted to see Sonata Arctica... but they were openning for Nightwish... Result? 40 bucks per ticket...
Does anyone else see the popular getting more money?
I mean same club yet one band gets 25 a head while 5 bands have to split 20 a head.
I dunno, maybe it's just me but the numbers just don't add up.
I would rather pay more for the 5 bands show. $30 would be ok for 5 bands... But 25 for one band? That's kind of weird...

Abigail Williams
Illnath (illnath)
Anthelion
I also suggest you listen to Throes Of Dawn. They are not really SBM... Most of the time they are classified as Dark Metal. But they take influences from quite a few different genres. I'd say they have some SBM twists.

Of course, HoM also provides talented female musicians. I really loved the bass performance from Janis Tanaka prior to her leaving the band.

It's childish? And how do you describe his behavior? Dropping in just to puke insults on a band that one of the other members admitted liking, without providing any kind of explanations on why he disliked their music, is the most childish thing.
I was not really inviting him to name his favorites bands, but more like sharing my point of view. It's obvious that there is going to be at least a few bands I hate amongs the bands he like. What I'm trying to do is to make him understand that we both have different tastes, and that if he cannot have an intelligent discussion on why he thinks one band or another is not good, then he might as well just avoid talking about these. That's absolutely not childish. I know you are a mod, but don't act like you are a peacemaker or anything, please.

You're not any better by taking the bait and throwing insults back. As a horseman of the Metal Hell, you should be setting an example here, not adding any fuels to the flames.

I put general discussions first and moderating second in C&C threads such as the Metal Hell. This is one of the few places where I can easily chill out on the BBS with little to no worries about dealing with trouble. However, if anything is going wrong, I will have to take action. I'm trying to end these arguments now before it gets carried away and I have to start handing out bans.

While it does look like I was trying to get into a fight, I explained what the point of my post was. You know I was just asking for him to bring an intelligent argument to the table instead of just random insults. Especially considering he was criticizing a band that I like. If you are going to bash on brokeNCYDE, I don't care, cause you won't offend anyone. But when it comes to discussing artists that other members of the Hell may like, then I think it's better to at least give some kind of intelligent content to your comment.

I still know what my Horseman functions are, and even though my post seemed like an invitation to start a flamming war, I explained my point of view and I'm pretty sure people will understand what I was trying to do.

If I was going to pick any Agalloch song that I found calming 'Limbs' would certainly not be the first on my list. I might be confusing it with another song but I always found that 'Limbs' had some rather heavy vocals compared to most Agalloch songs.
