Gary fucking Holt, dude.

You know, Exodus.

Ah, he looked pretty metal. I thought it was the dude from Sword when I looked at him.

I think Gary Holt played one solo and Kerry King played 20.

I forgot, Maiden played Fear of the Dark too.

My two favourite Maiden songs are Revelations and Powerslave, and they didn't play them :(

Trying to see how many of the people on my friends list I can offend on facebook. I think it's safe to say that if nobody gets offended that I say offensive things too often.

Also, Ponos I can't seem to find you on facebook this fine evening. Is there something you'd like to tell the class? Haha.

Response to Metal Hell 2011-03-11 12:42:23

Well I got one person to take me off their friends list. That wasn't as fun as I had hoped. Most people thought what I was doing was funny. Disappointed.

lmfao! What kind of statement is that?! You could say that about any band! 'If you discard the good albums they're actually quite shit' Terrible logic :P

ALSO YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS DUFF BUT...nearly every COB riff ever made has been stolen from Manowar.

I've noticed this however

Also, alexi gets too fucking drunk live to even play his own shittie songs.

UneXpect put a new track out. pretty cool.

I got some more Kekal albums. I listened to a Thousand Thoughts of Violence yesterday, which is an awesome album, and I'm enjoying Acidity right now (aside from a few seconds on the third track, at about 1:23 or so). I'll listen to the Habit of Fire another time. I wish I could find their new album, 8, though. I already have Audible Minority, so aside from 8, that leaves me with their first couple albums to get.

I also got My Arms your Hearse and Blackwater Park by Opeth. I listened to MAYH. It's alright. Not much really stuck out for me like Still Life. will probably listen again sometime.

I got a couple Ephel Duath albums, too. I used to think they were annoying, but I listened to some stuff on Youtube and decided to get some albums.

And I got the new Vanden Plas album. still haven't listened to it.

Breaking news: Economic experts worried as Japan's economy expected to dive after a severe hit to Japan's used underwear vending machine industry bringing soggy drawers to all y'all bitches.

and

This tsunami is going to have serious repercussions for Japan's octopus porn industry.

I know. The whole thing was hilarious. They started losing the argument and started trying to claim I was using facebook as a soapbox even though they're the ones that publicly tried to call me out. Then they tried deleting the post from my wall to hide how stupid they were. But I've got it all saved in emails since I get notifications so the lulz will go on.

Only now I tried out Darkthrone (Panzerfaust to be precise on what I was listening to) and I actually enjoyed what I heard from them.

Weird, COB's third album has the highest score on MA and their fourth album scores higher than their second.

Usually I wouldn't use MA as a reliable source for general thoughts but considering the flak COB get, it's surprising to see some high overall ratings for them.

So, I've decided to do a discog review of Manilla Road. The site I use has all the albums up, but none of them are reviewed, so I decided I'd do that. I'll post the reviews as they are finished.

Hell fucking yes! I often not see enough reviews as their releases deserve. I'd write a few up myself but I know for a fact that I'm more comfortable reviewing individual songs than albums.

I've completely fallen out of metal lately and I've been listening to trip-hop, house and dubstep.
Can anyone recommend me some good ol' Sludge or Prog metal?

Shit like:
Mastodon
Baroness
Sleep
Kylesa
Between The Buried And Me
Cynic

Much thanks.

Oh fuck it, just listen to Hammers of Misfortune.

Shit like:
Between The Buried And Me

I hear they're not a favourable band in heavy metal.

For the proggier albums of theirs, listen to The Locust Years and Fields as well as The August Engine songs.

This is a good start to the Road madness. Invasion is an iffy one. I've found myself feeling certain songs are too long on the album but I felt the lengths of The Dream Goes On and Street Jammer to be just right. Luckily we were given a shorter and better version of Far Side of the Sun on the following album Metal (assuming you don't count Mark of the Beast as their second album). I do agree that this is one that only hardcore fans should look into yet it was one of the first albums of theirs I picked up and that was because Slough Feg covered Street Jammer on Hardworlder. Then again, some albums of theirs are inaccessible for new listeners.

My point was COB have SO many countless fans, among both scenekids AND metalheads, that it's in the tens of millions.

Unlike Machine Head, who I know next to no fans of, nearly everyone I know in real life(Whether a metalhead or a scene kid from school) know and love COB, or at least older COB.

There are far more people who love COB than people who hate them like myself.

It's not fair to judge Invasion the same way you would other Manilla Road albums, or expect it to be the same. It's of a different species entirely: Not metal. Don't expect it to be. Also kinda space rockish from what I remember. That being said, Invasion is one of my favorite Manilla Road albums, and I'm going to listen to it again sometime soon. Been a long time.

Also, Empire is fucking awesome.

I agree The Empire is an amazing song. I didn't judge it on not being metal, just that some of the overall elements didn't impress me. Some of the songs dragged at times, Shelton's voice was awful most of the album, and I wasn't thrilled with the production. A lot of the songs have really cool structures and great parts about them, but there are other parts that just don't thrill me.

Alright, good to hear. Invasion doesn't get much love, sadly. Also, I love Shelton's voice on the album. I pretty much hated it the first time I listened, but it's kind of grown on me. You listen to Metal yet? It's no Crystal Logic or The Deluge, but it's still pretty good.
