If I had to put any Metallica album as one of the best Metal albums of all time, I would definitely pick Kill 'Em All.

Sculptured - Fashioned by Blood & Tears

Excellent review of the album! The only thing I wish was mentioned was the excellent trilogy in the album (Heavy Metal Monk / Fergus Mac Roich / Cauldron of Blood). Although you noted two of the songs, I feel those three songs together are one of the many highlights in the album.

Yes x100. It may not be easy to get into but when you can appreciate their music fully, this album becomes a masterpiece. Just listen to The Funeral Portrait to get a good feeling of their music.

I really need to ask why you would choose Traced In Air, over Focus... and why you would choose Mafia, over Oracles?

I love every song in Mafia and Traced, but not that many stick out as amazing in the other 2.

Pretty much the other way around for me. I thought Traced In Air was some of the most generic Prog Metal I ever heard, while focus mixed elements from death metal, prog and jazz. And Mafia is kind of good yes. Pretty fucking good in fact, but it doesn't have the same mind-blowing power you can find on Oracles. Each and every song on Oracles stood out, and I feel that Mafia is a step toward a more accessible Death Metal sound. Which may not be a bad thing, but too much melodic stuff in their music would just bring the quality of their music down.

I've pre-ordered a few albums this week. I'll be getting new albums by Destruction, Moonsorrow and Turisas later this month. I'm liking what I've heard from a few tracks by Destruction and Turisas and the preview samples for the new Moonsorrow album. Another release this month that I'm thinking of purchasing is the new Doomsowrd album. I've been wanting to listen to their stuff but with lack of previews, I can't be sure if I'll enjoy the new album or not.

While I love most of the other albums you listed, I think this one stands out. Altered Genesis is objectively an album that redefines the Death Metal genre. There is not a single note on this album that feels out of place. The guitar work is absolutely amazing, and the bassist stands out as one of the most creative bass guitar players of our time.

This is one album, that should definitely be on any list of all time greatest Metal albums.

It's a good album, and a good start with the band Opeth. Starting with My Arms, Your Hearse wasn't the best way to approach the band.
