I just watched it, you're right it was pretty cringey, especially the bit in the party with SLAAAAYYYURRRGH.

But I liked it, just wish Rich wasn't such a douchecanoe, they're just reinforcing every stereotype about metalheads at the moment with him.

Also Rich is basically Dalnaki.

They're not metal.
Metal guitars, metal drums, half metal vocals... if they're not metal, what are they? They're still a kickass band and I find them worthy of a mention in here.

They are a Nu-Metal band. I love their work though :) Their album Revolution Revolucion is awesome :)

I suggest you post about their stuff in the Nu-Metal/Metalcore Crew. Nobody ever posts there. But if you are interrested in joinning, I would really be interrested in reviving this crew :)

On topic of Nu-metal. Could someone give some more background for it?

Nu-metal isn't really metal because it has more elements of hard rock than metal. There's some other explanations that are better than mine, but that's pretty much how I sum it up. Same with metalcore. It just doesn't have enough elements of metal to be considered such, because it is more hardcore punk than metal.

I think it's more the culmination of all the different genres. Like, melodeath is just death metal with slightly more melodic guitar. Whereas if I were to add hip hop and funk and rap and techno to it, it wouldn't be metal any more.

As far as I am concerned a Nu Metal artist is may not be Metal but they are certainly capable of releasing individual songs that are Metal.

The sum of the parts may not be Metal but I don't think you can say it is devoid of it.

Response to Metal Hell 2011-02-04 18:43:34

Yeah, just like Rock and Metal share some elements. There is still a line to draw between the two genres. And for obvious reasons, we have drawn a line between Metal and Nu-Metal.

Don't bother arguing with that piece of shit. He's become notorious for these sort of arguments at this point in the General forum. It's a shame most threads about metal in the General forum turn to shit because of douchebags like him. I much prefer to talk about the subject right here for more mature discussions. Well, most of the time anyway.

A little generic, has a pretty -corish riff in one song made me wut. It's like a 6.5 in my eyes.

At 2/4/11 06:15 PM, TheSporkLord wrote: You know the whole slipknot thing again.

Dumbing down metal with a gangster/metro image ala MTV, simpler riffs to appeal to a wider audience, less artistic value, more focus on rhythmic devices with less notes, faggot haircuts, chugging your notes, calling your songs "Off the Heezay". That goes for -core too.

Although straight up hardcore is pretty good.

Noun. Nooooooun. Noun. Noun.

Noun.

Noun.

Yeah, my posts are incredibly cool.

So anyone ever been on acid in the back of a cop car, locked up? Well it sucks pretty bad. Cops asked me what my name was. I said Policeman Firangi Paani. I caved when they threatened me with taking me to the station.

It's a little shit being grabbed and forced into a cop car when all I was doing was sitting on a sidewalk at 1:30 in the morning staring at a house that was waving and moving and entertaining me. I'd like to think it was police brutality, picking on people because they're unsatisfied with their station in life. Low shit.

Skateboarding on acid is still the bees knees though, I recommend it if you were born to have adventure.

In other news, I have a job now at my local theater where I set up sound systems and do lights and soundboard stuff and move shit around and get paid a lot. I also get a Cert II in Live Sound Production in a year.

Absolutely not. I really don't feel like going through this kind of argument again. But if it was the case, why would most metalheads hate on Nu-Metal? And why would Nu-Metal fan be so limited in their "Metal" tastes?

Dude, how many times did we get people coming in with lists like these?

August Burns Red
Confide
Slipknot
Rammstein
Avenged Sevenfold
Parkway Drive
Trivium
Limp Bizkit
Metallica
Winds Of Plague

I know it's not exactly like that... but you get my point... There is usually a huge total of 1 metal band on their list, and it's usually Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer or Black Sabbath. Some other times they have metal bands, but almost all of them are Melodic Death Metal.

What about Black Metal? Death Metal? Avant-garde? Prog? Drone? Doom? Folk? Stoner? Most of them don't even know of these genres, and when you make em listen to it, they can't appreciate it, cause they don't have any kind of taste when it comes to Metal. They lack the musical knowledge to understand anything that doesn't follow poppish structures like "intro-chorus-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-
chorus", with the usual sing along parts, and with the cleanest, most polished production ever. That's always what I say... Metalcore (or Nu-Metal) is pop music that feels badass.

At 2/5/11 01:33 PM, Zodir wrote: Also, what are your guys' favorite metal albums of all time? Not in any particular order, but just a couple that you consistently find to be amazing.

Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain

Blood Red Throne - Altered Genesis
Spastic Ink - Ink Complete
Fleshgod Apocalypse - Oracles
Kalmah - Swampsong
Cynic - Focus
Dream Theater - Images and Words
Ulver - Bergtatt
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Liquid Tension Experiment - Liquid Tension Experiment
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Sculptured - The Spear Of The Lily Is Aureoled
Sunn O))) - Black One
Sunn O))) & Boris - Altar
Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark

Yeah :) Just remember this is a list I made in a few minutes. I didn't try to make a list of the obvious best Metal albums ever. It's just a list of my all time favorites, on the top of my head.
