You guys have any suggestions of bands like these?

Not exactly like these bands, but I really like Ayreon. I suggest you check them out. I also second the nomination for Gonin-Ish.

Listening to Gwar's new album now, so far most of it is what I expected, Gwar hasnt changed too much over the 25 years they've been around it seems. However Come The Carnivore sounds a lot more doom metal than anything i've heard from Gwar before. I'm only halfway through now so hopefully theres more good stuff to come.

New Sig thanks to JaY11 by the way!

You know of Behold... the Arctopus (right?)
Liquid Tension Experiment (obvious)
SikTh (you're probably the only person that would like these, given theres a sizeable hardcore influence in there).

I'll check out Gonin-Ish and SikTh. (How am I hardcore...)
I know LTE already and I'm not really fond of Behold... The Arctopus, while their music is still pretty cool.

So I been taking a brief break from metal. I feel better, I saved my relationship ( I was a raging asshole) when you listen to the same stuff over and over it messes with your head in some sick way.

I got my own cum on my face in front of a girl today.

Metal.

Behold... The Arctopus are fucking awesome. Thanks Nev for showing me them when they were just starting. I wish they made a new album already.

You know another band I want to release a new album? Vintersorg. A new Melvins album would rock if it was good. The Bride Screamed Murder is pretty under done IMO.

Went to another gig last night, saw Sylosis, Heaven Shall Burn, Suicide Silence and As I Lay Dying, was damn good.

Naturally most of you are scowling at your monitors and twisting your 'taches in disbelief, but I had a damn good time :D

I went for Sylosis (the only actual metal band playing rofl) and they were my favourite, they were tighter than a penguins arsehole, and everyone loved them, they played Teras as their last song which is one of my favourites :D

Heaven Shall Burn were pretty epic too, got the crowd going crazy, and they looked sharp in their red shirts aha, vocalist was mental and stagedived over the security guards during the last song lol.

Suicide Silence were the worst band of the night, but all the corefags who were there were lovin them, I must admit though I really enjoyed screaming along to No Time To Bleed and No Pity For A Coward :P

Finally As I Lay Dying were pretty sexy, I didn't go in the crowd when they played as I discovered I could get served alcohol at the venue bar rofl, so I just stood near the bar with my mate downing some pints while checking them out, they were tight and really got the crowd going mental. They played Through Struggle, The Sound of Truth and Nothing Left which are the only songs I wanted to hear so I was happy aha.

Was a good night, even core bands can put on a good show :P

I love metal like crackheads love anal. and crack.

You talking about the live performance or the song itself? Necropolis is a great song and stands as one of my favourite Manilla Road songs right now. As for the live performance, I didn't like the sound of the drums and Mark Shelton didn't sound very enthusiastic here.

I mean the live performance. I thought it was great, especially the dual vocals. Shoddy drum sound aside, what do you mean by unenthusiastic? He's just matching the nasal singing style he had on Crystal Logic. Well, at least that's what I thought. Though, now that you mention it he does sound a bit flat.

You virtually can't go wrong with any album, but as Bahamut said, Crystal Logic is a great start.

No suggestions for similar bands, but here's some cool prog thrash worth checking out.

Yeah man, I love metal, but you gotta switch it up a bit. My other favorite genres are ska, chiptunes, classic rock, and hardcore. I couldn't listen to just metal all the time, I tried that when I was 14. A good mix is good for the mind.

Thanks, but when I was researching Manilla Road, one of their albums has a storyline of Cthulu and his hordes fighting the Norse Gods in Atlantis. That is one of the coolest concept album storylines ever. I want this album.

Is that Atlantis Rising? I've heard some of the songs in that album and they sound really good. That and it has a pretty badass album cover. I'll probably get this album next from the Manilla Road library.

I've been listening to a lot of At The Gates lately, they're pretty raw for a melodeath band. Although I've also read a lot of people who say they're a mix between thrash and death, either way, they're still melodic death in my mind.

Or if these bands could at least release another album.

Amazing (re)discovery of my life. After having some nostalgia from listening to the War of the Worlds album and talking to my sister about the albums we came across from our dad and aunt's vinyls, it came to my attention that Run to the Hills ISN'T the first Maiden song I ever heard but actually a cover from the Aces High. This very cover was the very first thing I heard from Iron Maiden and I originally heard this at the age of 6/7.

That's a good topic. What do you listen to beside metal?

Beside Metal, I also like Industrial, Goth Rock, Grunge, Hard Rock, Death Rock, Post-punk, Classical, Punk Rock(The Ramones!!), Folk, Dark Ambient, Jazz, Blues, some Melodic Metalcore, Glam Rock, some EBM and some Alternative Rock.

So guys I got the latest issue of Terrorizer and apparently Napalm Death are going to be in Skins. They are in it performing and then Mark Greenway has a conversation with a metalhead character about shit.

Nah, it's not Maiden. If they actually did a cover of Castlevania, we would have known about it ages ago. I did a bit of research on that Castlevania cover and it's actually by Naoto Shibata, a band member of Anthem. Never heard of them before.

New Motorhead comes out next year and it already leaked.
Have yet to hear it though, I know it will be good.

I'm actually waiting until the actual CD release in the UK. Sadly, it's exclusive to Classic Rock Magazine for the first four weeks of the release and if I wanted it for Christmas, I'll need someone to get it from a foreign seller.
