MetalSwim was a really cool CD.

Actually, I just need to know some more good metal bands in general. I like:

Amon Amarth
Wintersun
Sleep
Electric Wizard (in moderation)
Dethklok

...I thought I liked more metal, but I can't think of anything right now. Any suggestions?

High on Fire, Weedeater, Melvins, Kylesa and some of Kyuss are a lot like Sleep.

High on Fire definitely since they have Matt Pike from Sleep.

High on Fire actually just came up on Youtube, liking them so far. I've listened to Weedeater a few times as well, and I like them. Norther just came up on Youtube and I'm liking them too.

I'm really liking Death and Cynic. Nightrage, Blood Red Throne and Obscura are pretty cool too.
The rest I'm not 100% keen on, so I guess Progressive and Tech are the ones for me.
Thanks for all that too Duff.

You should also try Gojira. They kick ass and i'm pretty sure you'd put them in the prog death genre.

MASTERS OF METAL, AGENTS OF STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL
I've yet to pick up the first Agent Steel album but Unstoppable Force is so damn awesome! I wonder how they go with their new album now that John Cyriis is back in the band. As for Skeptics Apocalypse, I'm only familiar with Agents of Steel as you posted but I'm thinking of getting the first album sometime in the future.

I support the nomination of Agent Steel albums. All of them are really good, and suggest getting them. My favorite is probably Unstoppable Force, followed by the Omega Conspiracy. I can't wait for their new ablum as well.

Also, I want some more Prog metal. Recs please!!!

Traumatic Voyage, Alchemist (the Australian one), Canvas Solaris and Pagan's Mind (everything other than their newer stuff. Their older stuff is better)

As for weird music, Estradasphere, Thee Maldoror Kollective, and (it's not metal) but Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows.

To JustinB6 (I think) who recommended Lake of Tears, I listened to the Forever Autumn album and I liked it very much. It's a good album to listen to right now actually, as the season changes, leaves turn colors and die, and the air gets colder.

But yeah, it lacks Demilich and Atheist.

Also, Disincarnate is badass. Anyone who likes death metal should be listening to them already.

I'm still fucking dissapointed that you guys can't appreciate Blood Red Throne. These guys make some of the most awesome Death Metal. You got to like the album Altered Genesis. They have some of the best song-writting and the riffs are mind-blowing. Have you ever heard such awesome basslines in Death Metal before? Maybe you did, but Erlend Caspersen brings it to another level. He's probably my favorite Metal bassist, along with Webster and Tony Levin (who isn't really just a Metal bassist...)

I don't mind you guys not liking Origin or Benighted, but Blood Red Throne? You guys are out of your mind !!!

I agree. Blood Red Throne is one of the best death metal bands to come out in a while. They're probably my favorite "modern" death metal band. I agree with Duff, they have amazing bass lines and some really cool riffs, c'mon guys! Get into Blood Red Throne!!!

My point Duff was that only Death were necessary.
But Death be rockin'. There was no other meaning than that. I've never even listened to 3/4 of your list :P.

I did try some songs from the other Agent Steel albums but I couldn't get into them. They were nowhere near as good as Unstoppable Force IMO. Maybe the other vocalist just didn't do it for me but good thing we have John Cyriis back in action.

Of course, you can relate many metal bands to Halloween (one of them is pretty obvious) while Kevin Bacon Day.........

Yeah, none.

They are amazing. They have some of the best Death Metal riffs you can find in Modern Death Metal. My only complaint is that they use stupid sounds of people getting killed in some of their albums and Altered Genesis as some of the most ridiculous promo pictures ever... I can't believe that such awesome musicians can have so much stereotypical shit in their music... like... "We kill people and dismember them! Cause that's metal, right?"
