so, metal. I like metal. how about you?

I remember him talking about folk and death metal, too.

You like sludge/doom stuff, don't you? We like all kinds of metal. Why don't you list ten bands and join? We just don't talk about power metal that much anymore. I remember when we used to talk about it a lot and some people were like "you powerfags shut up already". Or maybe just Kiddi said that.

i can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but, I got Slough Feg's new album, The Animal Spirits. My expectations were met. Not as good as Ape Uprising, Traveller, or Down Among the Deadmen, but still a solid album. Fans of traditional metal and Slough Feg, pick it up.

They're probably my favourite 10.

I never thought listing 10 metal bands I like could've been so annoying/hard D:

I agree, just the way he said it made it sound like it was common knowledge that they sucked, but i was like "Fuck you i really like them" and he basically stopped there

Actually it's because these genres aren't mentioned AS much that, unless a good discussion is going on, that I sometimes go 10 or so pages without posting. (it probably doesn't seem like a long period of time cause that's like a week, but still)

That being said, I enjoy talking about some death metal, doom metal, sludge metal, etc. as well.

I do actually, I feel i've neglected the whole genre of Death metal.

So where to start? I don't know your tastes at all... So em... let's try something then

Obscura (Technical Death Metal)
Death (Progressive Death Metal)
Benighted (Brutal Death Metal)
Blood Red Throne (Technical Death Metal)
Cynic (Progressive Death Metal/Jazz Fusion)
Darkane (Death/Thrash Metal)
Decapitated (Technical Death Metal)
Kronos (Brutal Death Metal)
Suffocation (Death Metal)
Quo Vadis (Technical Death Metal)
Panzerchrist (Blackened Death Metal)
Nightrage (Melodic Death Metal)
Necrophagist (Technical Death Metal)
Kalmah (Melodic Death Metal)
Origin (Technical Death Metal)

These bands are all Modern Death Metal bands, except for Suffocation and Death, though they have some Modern Death Metal albums.

Now just wait for Nev to complain about me not putting Demilich in the list, Ponos because there is Melodic Death Metal in my list and Dalnaki because there is too much Tech Death and not enough Old School DM :P

I really do suggest you check some Old School Death though. Atheist, Obituary and Autopsy are awesome Old School Death Metal bands. I won't give you links to their songs cause I don't know these bands well enough to be able to suggest their best songs.

Cynic - Celestial Voyage

I'm really liking Death and Cynic. Nightrage, Blood Red Throne and Obscura are pretty cool too.
The rest I'm not 100% keen on, so I guess Progressive and Tech are the ones for me.
Thanks for all that too Duff.

It's funny you like both Cynic and Death, because these two bands share some of the same musicians (or shared, because Death is not active anymore). If you like Progressive and Tech, than I highly suggest you listen to Blotted Science. They are one of my favorite Progressive Metal bands. They have some Death Metal obvious influences. However, I can't see them as plain Death Metal. These guys are amazing :)

Yep, Kiddi was the big power metal hater around here. He hasn't been here in a long time now but I get the feeling he won't be returning here considering he asked the admins to delete all his posts. Still, it's not a good idea for ANYONE to say "you powerfags shut up already" around here. :P

I didn't expect it to be as good as Down Among the Deadmen or Traveller. Heh, it's hard to make such expectations when those two albums are like their Powerslave and The Number of the Beast. The new album just dispatched from HMV today so I expect to get it on Monday.

Cynic is awesome, Obscura is pretty damn good, and Necrophagist and Decapitated aren't bad.

But yeah, it lacks Demilich and Atheist.

Also, Disincarnate is badass. Anyone who likes death metal should be listening to them already.

I've yet to pick up the first Agent Steel album but Unstoppable Force is so damn awesome! I wonder how they go with their new album now that John Cyriis is back in the band. As for Skeptics Apocalypse, I'm only familiar with Agents of Steel as you posted but I'm thinking of getting the first album sometime in the future.
