Anyone else like typing random names into google to see if they're bands? I found this hilariously bad band that way, Deathstyle.

Should start working on this man :P

I can't promise anything but I'll see if they can be one of the bands I'll highly consider listening to next year. The other bands I hope to get into in the new year are Halford and Hawkwind. Those two I feel I'm way overdue for.

Step 1: Buy A Slayer CD preferably Dead Skin Mask

Step 2: Insert CD into player or what ever.

Step 3: max the volume

Step 4: Move head up and down in excessive movement.

Step 5: Roll head around like your in an Amon Amarth Video

Step 6: That's head banging

Step 7: Brain Damage

I always preferred head banging to slower - but really powerful songs, over thrash. Like this kind of stuff.

Try Gojira and In Mourning. Not sure if they totally meet your criteria, they fall more into progressive death metal. They're amazing though. If you like In Mourning, try Opeth.

Om aren't Drone. They're incredibly minimalist Stoner Doom in my opinion. Their isn't enough noisy nonsence for them to be anywhere near Droney.

As for Drone bands Duff check out:
Earth
Khanate
Wormphlegm
Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine
Nadja

Sadly they're the only ones I was recommend by my ex-band mate before I had to leave, but from what I've hear they're all enjoyable :).

And headbanging is gay. It's all about Doom dancing.

Thanks guys.

Of course we can. There are a lot of excelentes band similar to yours. But I'll recommend you some of Melodic bands.

Dimmu Borgir. Is a Melodic Black Metal band from Norway. I recommend you the song called Burn in Hell.

Therion. A Melodic Metal band from Sweden. An awesome song, Son Of The Staves Of Time.

Macbeth. Melodic Metal from Italy. Listen to Without You. (No, is not Motley Crüe)

Xandria. Melodic Metal from Germany. Listen to Ginger.

Trail of Tears. Melodic Metal from Norway. Listen to The Arcane.

Sirenia. Melodic Metal from Norway. Listen to The Other Side.

Clidren of Bodom. Melodic Death Metal from Finland. Listen to Trashed, Lost & Strungout.

Delain. Melodic Metal from Netherlands. Listen to Frozen.

Well... These are the bands that I can remenber right now. I hope that you will find some of your like.

Guys! Do you know a genre called Technical death metal, I readed it before and I never heared about it. A good band who play that? Thanks.

Dying Fetus
Decapitated
The Faceless
Suffocation
Devourment (maybe)

Blackguard (previously knowned as Profugus Mortis... They are amazing !!!)
Darkane (a great mix of Melodic Death Metal and Thrash Metal)

Miseration (Melodic Death Meta)
Solution.45 (A side project of some of the guys from Scar Symmetry)
Soilwork (Previously a great Gothenburg Metal band, now they are just falling in the metalcore trap)

Amon Amarth (MDM)

I don't know about you guys, but I can't headbang. Literally. I had a neck injury. :(
However, Triumph of Death makes me headbang anyday. Neck injury or no neck injury.

Response to Metal Hell 2010-10-22 04:27:20

I prefer Jens' method of headbanging. Which is more like having a seizure. But it's easier on the neck.

Though whenever I headbang, my head hurts, and the next day my neck is stiff as anything.

Horus / Aggressor is a good one for that, too.

I can't really say that anything in particular makes me want to headbang more than anything else. More just certain bands. Incantation, Destruction, Inquisition, Arkhon Infaustus. Shit like that.

the 10th band was Neurosis btw

anybody here into them? I'm still a member in this forum called TarBlackVomit which is a really good community to talk about metal and stuff. Its a forum related to combat music radio which plays great music and usually has interviews with other musicians, sometimes phil anselmo will come on and give his feedback on the latest UFC fights.

have you guys heard of a band called harvey milk? they're not quite metal, but they have a lot of sludge/drone/doom influence. they're more like experimental noise/sludge rock than metal but if you're into experimental music and sludge/drone then you may like them. they're pretty soul-crushing.

I don't headbang. Its not necessary to enjoy metal. I don't have long hair and I'm not a guy who gets all pysched up about stuff at all really. Headbanging just seems weird. And it hurt my head. Maybe I wasn't doing right, I dunno.

I wouldn't know, I don't use last.fm for recommendations because A. I can't be bothered, and B. I imagine you wanted opinions from people whose tastes you trust?

I've heard the name but it's always turned me off them due to how stupid it sounds. But the way you're describing them sounds right up my alley. I'll check them out tomorrow.
It's been a while since I've listened to any new Metal bands.

At 10/22/10 06:10 PM, HeavenDuff wrote: Tell me how sludge and drone can be mixed together. I can't figure out...

Think Sludge. And make it slower.

Drone generally sounds more Sludgey than Doomy in my opinion anyway. The feeling I get from Doom is either misery or being a Stoned waster. Sludge is your angrier stuff, and most of the Drone (besides Earth and some Boris stuff) that I've listened to has that dark, forboding side to it, rather than just being miserable.

I used to enjoy it (years ago, not just since I cut my hair), but more recently I've just found it to be impractical to enjoying a gig. The main reasons are probably the choices of gigs I went to, mainly being Prog or Doom so they weren't exactly energetic crowd gigs. But also I like to get as close as possible, which means having no space whatsoever and head banging in those situations would just be really insensitive as all you'd be doing was whipping 4 or 5 people in the face with your hair.
