I like this statement, just for how inane it is. If anyone else was doing a 'best of the most obscure thing in the world' they'd say that sentence.

You are a pretencious twat shit. But I love ya for it!
Now go be pretencious and shit on twats.

Also, I wouldn't have said anything if I knew another long-post-bore-fest was going to happen.
'Not that good' isn't the same as 'bad' either.
Uncharted 2 isn't that good, but it's not bad. It's just incredibly overhyped to the point that its very difficult to enjoy it as you're not getting that' OH MY GOD MY BALLS ARE EXPLODED FROM THE AWESOMENESS!'
I imagine anyone who listened to Dystopia after me raving about them felt similar.

And finally Duff, England isn't foggy :P. Rains a lot, yes. But theres rarely fog. Theres smog in certain parts but thats completely different ;).

If you state a negative personal opinion about a band Duff likes he gets upset and after days of long posts arguing the same points over and over we all agree that 'Hey, we're people and we have our own opinions, and where better to air them than on an internet forum.'
Thats it in a nutshell.

I imagine anyway, I don't read these posts :P.

I fucking concur. I've enjoyed this album A LOT since I bought it a few weeks ago. Seven tracks but they're all fantastic. The highlights have to be Kyrie Eleison, Traveler in Time and The Apparition.

If you're going to get into them, I recommend Awaken the Guardian as well. If you like what you've heard in The Spectre Within, chances are you'll like this album as well. The only other album of theirs I recommend is No Exit. Although it's a different vocalist, the songs are still sweet.

I second both Awaken the Guardian and No Exit, and I would also throw in A Pleasant Shade of Gray and Night on Brocken.

Calling me a cunt was supposed to be defending me?

Haha, shit man, you don't know my lingo. I'm Australian, ya bastard.

Sorry about all that stuff I said to you. I guess I was just angry at the moment I wrote it to you... Yeah, I really guess I have to apologize for all that shit, cause I don't even think half of these things I've said to you.

Nawwwwwwww you sweetheart =)

Going back to the main topic, I think it's funny how you guys all get angry when we write wall texts :P There is nothing keeping you guys from scrolling down, and it's not like if we were forcing you guys in the discussion.

Anyway, I was thinking about all that discussion we had and all the stuff I read at Uni about science vs philosophy... And I guess there is a little something I got wrong. Nothing can be a hundred percent objective in music, cause arts and music are created by human beings. The fact that these things are our creations just prevents it from having any natural laws, therefore, there is no real way to measure quality in arts, since it's just another criteria, also made up by human beings...

There is no true objectivity... What I'm actually talking about should be called a consensual agreement on what quality is in music... or em... I don't know, I still have a few problems with the english language... can't seem to find the proper words. Maybe you guys would have a better word or expression to fit what I'm talking about.

I wouldn't say the same for artists like Katy Perry though.

I fucking hate Katy Perry.

I've yet to listen those two albums. I am interested in Night on Bröcken considering John Arch but I've heard from a few their debut album is their weakest. I heard one song and it didn't sound too bad. As for A Pleasant Shade of Gray, I may pick this up at a later point but I'm not so big on Alder-era Fates Warning.

Any of you guys gave a listen to Sculptured? It's a side project of the two Agalloch's guitarists... and I got to say that I'm kind of disappointed by their work with this band so far... I don't know a lot of their work though, I only heard 2 or 3 songs, but it lacks pretty much everything that makes Agalloch a great band. If anyone could give them a more serious listen than I and tell me what he thinks about them, it would be appreciated (I can't do it, I don't have uTorrent anymore).

I have, and I quite enjoy them. But then again, I heard them before Agalloch, so I had no expectations for it. I liked Embodiment: Collapsing Under the Weight of God the best.

Haha, never knew I'd find anything good from Last.fm's radio stations ever again but amazingly enough, I did tonight! I came across a band named Van Canto and while they've been around for a few years, I never knew A Cappella metal existed until now. I'm mostly amused by their hilarious covers.

I saw the battery one a while ago. I found it funny and interesting but not something I really thought I liked.

It's not everyone's cup of tea but for those who are highly amused at their different approach towards metal, it's more power to us.

They've made a couple of interesting covers. There's also Kings of Metal, The Bard's Song and Fear of the Dark. They've even had Tony Kakko and Hansi Kursch in some of their songs. Crazy stuff but I love it. I need to pick up some of their albums soon.

It's all taste. I actually prefer Ray Alder to John Arch, but hey, to each his own.

Hey guys, I just got an awesome sig.

Haven't been here in a while.

How's everyone doing? Metal is the only thing that's keeping me alive nowadays. I've very much gotten into a few new bands: Dark Funeral, Decapitated, Megadeth and a few others. I usually tend to find out about new bands by just posting here frequently, so I'll hang around here for a while again.

Fates Warning with John Arch = LOL WE CAN DO WHAT A LOT OF OTHER BANDS ARE DOING.
Fates Warning with Ray Alder = LOL WE CAN DO A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STYLE TO EVERY ALBUM, BUT IT'LL ALWAYS BE ORIGINAL AND GOOD.

I think Ray is also a way better singer overall.

My favorite FW albums are Perfect Symmetry, A Pleasant Shade Of Gray and No Exit - but I love them all.

I've been there before man, it can pull you through some crazy stuff. Just music in general too can make you feel more alive. Those are some pretty cool bands. This topic is definitely worth posting and lurking to find some good bands.
