For the Tool fans, I'm sure the wait will be worth it. For the time being, just focus on other bands who are releasing new albums sometime soon. That's what I'll need to do considering the next Maiden and Blind Guardian albums won't be out until 3 or 4 years time.

Why do I see no Neurosis in this thread, this thread needs Neurosis. This year marks their twenty-fifth anniversary and they are playing at the ATP Gig as well as a London show in December, they've re-released Enemy of the Sun but I want a new album, they are about due, hopefully after this tour they'll settle down in the studio for something special.

I haven't heard of this band before. I quickly checked them up on MA and supposedly their later works are "Progressive Sludge/Post-Hardcore/Tribal/Ambient". That's quite a mix. You able to provide any songs for us to hear as a taster?

They've evolved greatly as a band since their crust punk garage beginnings. Since you asked so nicely I'll give you a youtube link from each album.

Pain of Mind - 1987 Here
The Word as Law - 1990 Here
Souls at Zero - 1992 Here
Enemy of the Sun - 1993 Here
Through Silver in Blood - 1996 Here
Times of Grace - 1999Here
A Sun that Never Sets - 2001 Here
The Eye of Every Storm - 2004 Here
Given to the Rising - 2007 Here

Enjoy

New to Metal Hell yes, new to newgrounds, no.

Ok, so here's the basics... All metalcore, hardcore, deathcore and nu-metal is considered as "not metal" in the Metal Hell. I can see how Winds Of Plague are somewhat Metal though.

I disagree. Start with Sham Mirrors. It's way superior, even if I'm seemingly alone in thinking this.

Also props on the modding.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT, NEW SLOUGH FEG SONGS!

I'm liking the two songs so far. Hard to say how it'll compare to the other albums but this is definitely another album I'll be pre-ordering. Well, that's if any stores in the UK will provide this album. If not, I'll be willing to buy this album from America like I did with most of their albums.

Ah, must have overlooked that but of course, I'm no expert on Sludge around here.

Thanks. :)

Meh, don't really like them (Protected Illusion). They're instrumentals are boring and weak. And their vocals are OK.

So not enough steam on their instrumentals, mostly.

You can't just listen to one song by them, man. You have to listen to the album to get a feel for it.

I don't know exactly. They are melodic, they have elements of deathcore, melodic death metal and shits. Metal Archives says they are Symphonic Deathcore/Blackened Death Metal.

Never heard of that before...

Anyway. When bands are in-between core and metal, you can still discusst them here. I know a few people still like some of these bands, so feel free to do it. But most users here do not really like core. I still think Winds Of Plague are pretty decent. I own one of their albums and I still enjoy it from time to time :)

Pretty much everyone refers to them as Symphonic Deathcore, like Abigail Williams are Symphonic Black Metal.

Which is the polite way of saying they have a keyboardist :P Though to be fair the symphonic parts are pretty damn awesome in a lot of songs, mostly in the Decimate The Weak album imo.

For example: A Cold Day In Hell sets a good intro for the album, and in Angels Of Debauchery and One Body Too Many there's a nice background symphony goin on.

They have some elemens of hardcore as well, as you do, like in Reloaded the vocals go more hardcore-y than deathcore like in most other songs.

They have a lot of breakdowns though, most of them are sexy but I know pretty much everyone here despises breakdowns, and I can understand why, though I like them :P

Yesh I listen to them a lot, yesh I bum them.

Wow, that was quick. Didn't they just put a new album out last year? I know I put it on my Top 10 albums of 2009? Did I get the year wrong somehow???????? Or are they really just putting out a new album a year after their previous one?

Although I didn't name any songs before, I almost thought the video I saw was Over the Top. It's actually High Speed GTO incase you didn't see that one. I love this video for its cheesy and humour value. Now that I'm hearing the song again, I actually like it more than I did the first time. I'll see what their other songs are like.

Nope, they got this album out rather quickly. Ape Uprising was only released last year and already they've got another album on the way. Then again, they only took a year after releasing Twilight of the Idols to get out Down Among the Deadmen and that album's a masterpiece.

Hmmm... hopefully it will be a repeat of that phenomenon. I loved Ape Uprising, and possibly is my favorite Slough Feg album. It's either that or Traveller. Maybe this is a more classic metal style release form. I mean Iron Maiden released 5 classic albums in 5 years, even with line up changes. And Black Sabbath did the same thing. Maybe it just depends on the type of band to be able to do that.
