Do you guys know the band "Battles?" I dunno if they could really be classified as metal so much, but since most of us here seem to appreciate technicality I think they'd fit in with the repertoire here.

though not even a little bit metal, Battles are an awesome band. If you like Battles you'd also probably like Don Caballero; they're far more technical than Battles are, and they're also instrumental.

Actually, I have heard of them, and own their two latest albums. They're pretty good.

Are we talking about Skeletonwitch or White Wizzard? I've been looking into Skeletonwitch for a while now, especially after hearing them in Brutal Legend. As for White Wizzard, I tried out a few more songs of theirs and I really want to pick up their EP and debut album.

Hmmm... hopefully it will be a repeat of that phenomenon. I loved Ape Uprising, and possibly is my favorite Slough Feg album.

For me, my favourite Slough Feg albums are Down Among the Deadmen and Traveller tied. Ape Uprising is still awesome but nothing beats those two for me. :) Still, you have to give Ape Uprising credit for the title track no matter what.

I disagree, though I still have not heard Endgame.

And I think Megadeth is much better than Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica, though Anthrax and Metallica are/were good.

At 8/25/10 03:42 AM, HeavenDuff wrote: Sooo, what do you guys think of the Drone/Doom band Earth?

good, though even though the repetition is the point, the songs still go on a little too long.

yes, that song especially sticks out.

uuuuh Where are you getting this? melodic/symphonic black metal is black metal.

Anyway, you guys listenned to all of Ulver's work?

pretty much.

Perdition City and Blood Inside are my favorites, but almost all the albums have songs I love, except Teachings in Silence.

At 8/30/10 03:37 PM, HeavenDuff wrote: I'll try to get my hands on some of Arcturus stuff. Anywhere I should start?

no. Just get Aspera Hiems Symfonia, la Masquerade Infernale, and the Sham Mirrors altogether and listen to them all.

Though not even close to metal, Battles is excellent, as was Don Caballero. I dunno about Don Cab's new stuff, though. the fact that they have some songs with vocals now bothers me.

It could be named Symphonic Eternal Darkness and Sorrow Metal, for all I care... I still think the SBM and BM structures are different enough to be considered as two different genres. Like Melodic Death Metal and Death Metal shouldn't be considered as parts of the same genre.

I remember hearing about that when it was first announced.

I wonder if it's any good.

The album's alright but I feel there's too many interlude tracks. There's five tracks named "Intro" which I thought was rather silly, despite the story it's meant to be telling. One song I do have to mention is The Bloody Verdict of Verden.

I SHED THE BLOOD OF THE SAXON MEN!

Hell fucking yes! It's always good to see other Slough Feg fans out there. A friend of mine listened to the new songs and he's become interested in the band. He really loves the song Ape Uprising which I showed him.

Hey guys, I've recently been listening to a lot of Black Sabbath. I have Black Sabbath through Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Heaven and Hell as well as The Mob Rules. Are there any other Sabbath albums I should get?

Also, I found this thrash metal band called Believer It's pretty good, I suggest checking them out.

Sabotage is an album worth picking up. It has Hole in the Sky and Symptoms of the Universe and they should be Sabbath classics. Megalamonia is an interesting epic piece from them. Another Black Sabbath I recommend looking into is Dehumanizer. Although it's the weakest Dio-era Sabbath album, it still has some good songs such as After All (The Dead), Master of Insanity and Letters from Earth.
