If I got the chance to see Insomnium live, I would be able to die a happy man. I can't go on to tell you how off the chart amazing Insomnium is. They just bring greatness to a whole new level. No band can ever compare.

I'm mostly referring to the album "Above the Weeping World". But still, unbelievable.

For some reason I still prefer Across the Dark... When they play "Where the last wave broke" I will cry...

It's the mother of all metalcore. Really simplified melodeath, simplified to pop.

Metalcore = pop metal.

Metalcore bands do the three word name thing too. They stole that from At The Gates. Fucking sellouts.

Well, Bullet for my Valentine... 4 words, and I like them. Trivium one word and I like them. Killswitch Engage 2 words and I like them. And they're the only metalcore bands I listen to these days. And Lamb of God is not metalcore!

To this day metal/deathcore bands are still trying to emulate the sound on that album. That's why I think TheUniwsePoet will like that album the most, it's the roots of todays -core.

This I can definitely agree with. Bruce still sounds the same while Hetfield has dramatically changed over the last few albums. There are tribute bands that sound better than him these days.

According to friends of mine, they have seen articles in various Metal Magazines that state that Steve Harris has a limit of 15 studio albums :(

I actually heard a few times before that they were looking at 15 albums but Janick recently stated that he sees no end to the band. However, Steve Harris is the main man of the band and you cannot have Iron Maiden without Harris so he gets his say on the fate of the band.

I don't think Bruce Dickinson has sounded good since the early 90´s, his voice is just really annoying now.

Wait Slaughter of the Soul is the album I listened to. So do they have other albums where the singing doesn't sound like he's choking on something?

On this whole little discussion. Who gives a shit what Mille's voice sounds like live? If you're seeing Kreator live and are being a bit anal about the vocals then you're doing it wrong.
They were fantastic when I saw them. It was Thrashtacular.

Interesting thing about Kreator.

In 1990 on a europe tour, a year before the black album and enter sandman came out, metallica and exodus OPENED for Kreator.

Also, Kreator are always amazing live.

Saw them last year with Exodus, Belphegor, Warbrigner and Epicurean and saw them in march earlier this year with Voivod, Nachtmystium, Evile and Lazuras A.D.

Steve Harris is Iron Maiden, even more than W. Axl Rose is Guns & Roses. He gets the call and I'm sure he'll make the right one, eventually. Basically, there is going to be a 6-8 month period while the band wouldn't even consider what to do for new material and if they decide to go back to the studio, awesome.

So around the time of No Prayer for the Dying, Tattooed Millionaire and Fear of the Dark? I actually thought he got to sounding better then, more accustomed to the power of his voice.

Across the dark is a lot more progressive. Not saying that is a bad thing at all, I actually prefer Insomnium when they're progressive death rather than melodic death.

I don't know who came up with the idea of groove metal but whoever it was needs a slap. It isn't a real subgenre, and the only band I've ever seen called groove metal is Pantera.

Was that album meant to be good? I listened to that song and World Painted Blood and thought they were utter shit. I'm surprised at the praise it got, unless I didn't hear the better tracks. Hell, it even got away with good reviews on MA.

Mustaine's vocals on Symphony of Destruction sound more than a little like Hetfield. I think at that stage, most people would have forgotten about grudges borne over 10 years previous when Mustaine was fired from Metallica, but I personally believe that some of his vocal slots are reference to his time with Metallica and the fact that he still hasn't forgiven them.

Basically, Mustaine hates Hetfield, because they're too similar.
