Is it any good? I have it preordered, but mine won't come till after the release date. Can't wait.

It's not something you'll get into right away. Give it a few listens and it'll grow on you. Not saying this is one of the finest Maiden albums but it's still satisfying. However, that depends on your thoughts on the last few albums. If you didn't enjoy A Matter of Life and Death, chances are you won't enjoy this album either.

It depends on what I'm listening to. When dubstep is good, it's good, but when dubstep is bad, it's REALLY bad and lame and not fun to listen to at all.

Yea I know what you mean.

If something takes no skill it means that anyone can do it. And if anyone can do it chances are 99% of the time its going to be shit that someone went 'herp de derp' and threw together without any actual artistic goal.

Fair enough, I understand what you mean to some extent, good dub isn't easy to make though, I've tried and it can be pretty complex.

However, done right, dubstep can be very, very sexy. At the party I went to on friday all we listened to was Dubstep, and fuck me was it loud. and bassy.

Tune. Lost count how many times this was played from my phone aha.

I think Dubstep has a place and time when it can be best appreciated. This tends to be parties where everyone is shitfaced, high out of their minds, and/or rollin' balls.
I usually hate dubstep when I'm sober, it's just too wompy. IMO nothing can really replace the awesome contrast between a good electronica bassline and a good synth line, and dubstep tries to use the bass as the main synth. Which sometimes works out ok, but it's not really my thing.

Has anybody listened to King of Asgard lately? I saw a newer album of theirs in the record store but couldn't sample it, I'm wondering if they're any good.

Kreator is unreal live. They're one of the few bands that actually play better live than in studio.

I didn't like Mille's vocals in the live videos I saw. He sounds awesome on their albums, or at least Extreme Aggression and Terrible Certainty (the only ones I have) but he doesn't even seem to do the same style live. I think it's cuz his throat can't take it.

It's still up to the person to come up with the sounds, so not anyone could do it. They did it. But you have a point about artists just throwing stuff together on a program.

I've heard dub and dubstep that was good, though mostly just dub.

I don't know if I have mentionned this anytime in the past, but one band that really is not mentionned often enough in the Hell, Wolves In The Throne Room has recorded some of my favorite black metal. And I feel that some of their work should really get more ears to listen to them.

I suggest that anybody who doesn't know them already go and listen to the track Ahrimanic Trance. The whole Black Cascade album is great, but this particular track, is just grand. I love it :)

Yeah, no kidding. I watched some "how to make a wobble bass" tutorial videos out of boredom and some of that shit is really complicated. Half of the process with electronic music is figuring out all the programs and your set-up and gear and all that. My friend is really into electronic music and that shit is fucking nuts. I definitely wouldn't say that dubstep, or any style of music, for that matter, takes "no talent." Some definitely take more talent than others, and dubstep is relatively simple (in many cases).

Re-organizing my music library again. I had way too many folders when it was just by album so now they're all going to go by artist then the albums inside said artist folder, which seems like the obvious choice. It was just took way too long to find things if I needed to change how they were tagged or add any data or artwork. Anyways, I just finished A and will start on B tonight. 89 down, some 1,500 to go.

Oh, that's how I've always organised my music library. Well, it's mostly Windows Media Player that places the folders there but I can't make a fuss about it.

Now i've never listened to Keep of Kalessin, but if they were doing a gig with Nile near me, I'd be stoked to go. Granted I'm not fans of either, I'd like to watch them.

I'm fans of Melvins and High on Fire, so I'm going to be stoked to see them next March. Yeah.

Dickinson's voice is holding out a lot better than the likes of James Hetfield, for example. The one problem I have with this, aside from the slow numbers, which do take a little getting used to is that this could well be the end. According to friends of mine, they have seen articles in various Metal Magazines that state that Steve Harris has a limit of 15 studio albums :(

If that's true, I'm not going to be happy, but I guess I just have to put up with it. *crosses fingers, sacrifices goat*

If I got the chance to see Insomnium live, I would be able to die a happy man. I can't go on to tell you how off the chart amazing Insomnium is. They just bring greatness to a whole new level. No band can ever compare.

I'm mostly referring to the album "Above the Weeping World". But still, unbelievable.

I thought so at first, but I got used to the vocals in a matter of 5 seconds. Then I loved them more than than ever. He changes up the tone depending on the moment in the song, and it just fits perfectly. Then after listening to them in studio again, I couldn't get used to the studio vocals.

But I think the guitarist who does the solos is easily outstanding. Just unexplainably perfect. I can't get over how much better he is live than in studio, along with the rest of the band. I'm mostly referring to their performance in 2005 at Wacken.
