Do we have ourselves a new metal sub-genre?

Description.

I'm kidding by the way. The song is cool though.

Sounds a lot like Frank Zappa's Jazz From Hell album.

Sure is butthurt in here. Sorry that I don't share your opinions on metalcore, I guess that makes me stupid. I'm sorry guys.

Opinions?

You said Metalcore was "objectively bad". You are not sharing your opinion with us than. You are stating that it's a fact.

this album is still good.

It's not good at all IMO.

Yes.

Well now it would be weird if I thought an album was excellent, but I called it bullshit. I called Rammstein bullshit. Because it is bullshit.

Deathcore and metalcore bands that have technical musicianship. I like the cool shredding and drumming but the music I just don't like overall. Bands like Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains.

Heavy Rocks and Pink are both spectacular stoner rock/metal albums. Amplifier Worship is really good drone type stuff, though. And Altar is very nice, too.

Haha you named all the albums I have from them. I do have one more, some weird live experimental wacky thang. It's a bit out there.

Because saying it's subjectively bad would just be ridiculous and self-defeating.

Anyway, yeah, I realize I was out of line with the poser comments. But I still stand by what I said about metalcore.

So, in an effort to change the topic, does anyone know any good metal albums that have been released this year so far? Because it seems after March, I really couldn't find any good metal albums that have been released so far.

From 2010, I've enjoyed Blind Guardian's At the Edge of Time, Overkill's Ironbound and Rhapsody's The Frozen Tears of Angels. Snakes for the Divine is also good but I've yet to fully get into that album. Iron Maiden's new album is just around the corner and there's going to be new albums by Helloween, Slough Feg, Angra, Motörhead and Symphony X (hopefully it comes out soon) this year.

This is possibly the greatest cover of Born to Be Wild out there. I'd go even further, and say it's the greatest cover ever. What do you guys think?

Most of us here don't care for (or hate) metalcore and nu-metal and such, actually, but it's still okay for members here to like it, as long as they discuss real metal. And no music is objectively bad. You're saying that it's a matter of fact that metalcore is bad, which is false. I myself don't like any of it, but I know it's a matter of opinion.

I'm sure I've heard more than one album from this year, but I can't seem to think of what they were. Sigh's new album was good, anyway.

On the subject of metal: my friends and I hotboxed a cave last night. How fucking metal is that?

At 8/13/10 12:58 PM, ZpLiNtEh wrote: I'm curious as to what you 'tr0000' guys think of Dubstep? I love it.

It depends on what I'm listening to. When dubstep is good, it's good, but when dubstep is bad, it's REALLY bad and lame and not fun to listen to at all. Last night my friends and I listened to some awesome dubstep. I love electronic music, actually, but it's really intimidating because there are so many subgenres and styles and artists out there, especially with the advent of the internet.

Dunno what dubstep is, or maybe I do. Anyway, when I want to freshen everything up I listen to stuff like:

This
This
This
This
This

I used to listen to dance/hardcore/gabber before I got into Metal back in the day. Only for a little while though. Still enjoy it every so often.

I don't think I've EVER listened to Dubstep. Well, maybe I'll recognise the sound if I heard it but it's nothing for me to be interested in.

In other news, I got the new Maiden album today! Thank you once again HMV for getting new releases delivered to be before the release date.

Tonight i'm going to be seeing slayer, megadeth and testament.

What could possibly make this better? Slayer is playing their best album in full - Seasons In The Abyss!

What's even better than this? Megadeth is playing their best album in full - rust in peace!

What's even better than this? Me and my girlfriend have to get there 3 hours early and we get early entry, a before party, backstage passes, gifts, meet and greets, photo ops, a free t-shirt for each of us of a band of our choosings AND VIP parking and General Admission :D

Great day shall be great!

No idea, as far as I know it's just free parking really close to the stadium.

Based on last night's setlist Testament is playing 8 songs, megadeth is playing 13 songs(Including all of RIP) and slayer's playing 15 songs(Including all of seasons in the abyss)
