All of the ones in stores not being listened to by anyone are the best Dark Tranquillity albums. And the ones smashed into pieces in dumps and landfills.

Some stupid cunts on Shreddit are saying Baroness and Mastodon are more indie rock than metal.
I, uh....yeah.

Umm, what? I think you might be being trolled, no one could possibly be that stupid.

The only one I have is Damage Done and it's a fucking awesome album!

Could we get only one angry teenager for the Hell? Dalnaki or Ponos, but please... not both!

I guess that makes Burzum and Goatwhore.. easy listening?
Ahahaha I had to show this to you guys.
This is one of my local venues called the Marquee in Norwich, they have a lot of hardcore band play there (shitty generic myspace hardcore bands no less), I've been there about 15 times but I think this picture sums the place up pretty well lmao.
Retarded hardcore dancers wearing random core-band shirts (mostly of bands no-ones heard of), it's quite amusing, I usually only go to get drunk and mosh to a band I actually like, and to occaisonally support my mates bands.
Also the chunky dude in the Acacia Strain shirt is a legend, I've seen him in a pit and I feel sorry for anyone who gets in his way, he's a beast.
Proper nice guy though, and a huge stoner aha.
tl; dr 2stepping makes you look like a faggot.

totally.
Well, at least most of the people there seem to actually be talking about metal. Though I'm not a Reddit member. I just lurk.

lordy lordy lordy
it's true that pitchfork reviews both bands, so maybe these people are just brainwashed by pitchfork?
I always liked Gorguts and listened to their album "Erosion of Sanity". I'm quite pleased. It's not as out there and experimental as Obscura but it's a solid death metal album.

I LUV INDIE ROCK THEN!
But there's something I can't understand... I always called Mastodon a Progressive Sludge Metal band, but in Metal Archives they say they are Technica/Progressive Groove Metal...
Liberals defend the exploitation of man by man, Conservatives defend the reverse.

I've never really been into labelling bands like Mastodon as anything, but Groove Metal they ain't.

Yeah, that's for sure. Plus, what the fuck would technical groove metal even sound like? That's practically an oxymoron.

You're exactly right. The best Dark Tranquillity album is the one that doesn't make your ears bleed, but they all do that. So...
I just call mastodon sludge.
Most sludge is progressive, has groove elements and has hardcore influences to begin with.
Mastodon, High On Fire, Neurosis, Baroness, etc.

Crack the Skye is definitely more progressive than standard sludge though, so they way I see you either label them progressive sludge, or just stick to labelling each album with it's own genre and forget a band genre.
on the subject of prog sludge: i checked out baroness. i dig 'em.

Just now? You've been missing out. Here's my monthly check-in post that I should probably change to more regular posting, but I digress.
For you sludge guys, check out this band Sons of Tonatiuh. They're an awesome sludge band that verges on crust punk at times (ala Dystopia)
Here I am, bored with everything.

i mean like i actually got around to getting their stuff. i've known about them for much longer obviously

I kinda figured this. Everyone has heard of Baroness nowadays whether they like the band or not.
In other metal news, I'm going to see Cynic (for the second time) today. Yay Cynic.

Haha yeah I've already gone and seen them live. They are such a fucking good live band. Absolutely perfect fluent playing, it was amazing to watch.
Also, check this shit out. The festival I went to where Baroness, Clutch, Isis (Now broken up), Meshuggah and Faith No More played? Yeah that was great, but the line up for next year? I plan on going to Soundwave once more:
Iron Maiden
Queens of the Stone Age
Slayer (Don't really care but metal)
Primus
Monster Magnet
Melvins (YES, YES, THATS RIGHT, MELVINS)
High on Fire (YES, YES, FUCKING HIGH ON FIRE)
The Sword (YES, THE SWORD)
Kylesa (YES, FUCKING KYLESA)
I'm going to have to fit that into one day! Iron Maiden will play for like 2 and a half hours, everyone else is 50 minute sets.
I think I'll skip Slayer.
Can't believe if I get tickets before they sell out.... I'm gunna see Melvins in February. And High on Fire, fuck yes.
Sons of Tonatiuh. They're an awesome sludge band that verges on crust punk at times (ala Dystopia)
I'd just like to say that I'm dissapointed by the hype Nev made about Dystopia being the best sludge band. I think they're pretty mediocre and that EyeHateGod are a lot better. But his reccomendation of Iron Monkey was good, but that's because I think stoner sludge is a lot better than the punky kind.

The failure right here is that the guy is asking which album is their best. So he has some kind of interest in the band and/or already like them. So your useless trolling... is just what it is... useless. If the guy likes it, then why do you waste your time? The guy wants to learn more about a band he likes and the fact that two guys he doesn't know or barely know do not like the band is not going to change his opinions on the said band.
So...
I've just gotten back into Megadeth and listenning to Holy Wars... The Punishment Due, Hangar 18, Take No Prisoners and all the tracks on Rust In Peace, I just can't seem to understand why someone would not think that they are the best Thrash Metal band ever. I've listenned to Testament, Exodus, Metallica and other awesome fucking bands like these. But I can't see how you could beat Rust In Peace by Megadeth. It's catchy, it's thrashy, it has great progression, it's unique and will blow your fucking mind every single time you listen to it.

Fuck Soundwave. While there are a bunch of cool bands going that I'd like to see, personally it's not enough to pull me in to buy a ticket.
In other news, I got my Metallica tickets in the mail :D

One semi-decent album doesn't redeem a career of commercial mediocrity.

I'll take Razor over them any day.
hey guys, im really getting into death metal now, ive been listening to almost only dismember and morbid angel for a while, and thanks to the guiy who posted amerijuani.. amerijua.. whatever it was by bongzilla xD
Beyond Groovy.

They're just metal to me, as they are too hard to define. Not in the least bit do I think of them of sludge though.
Mastodon, High On Fire, Neurosis, Baroness, etc.
High on Fire is more stoner than anything but you could call them sludge I guess.

Every time I listen to Rust in Peace I just can't get over how damn awesome the riffs are. Especially in stuff like Take no Prisoners and Poison was the Cure, those riffs are pure fucking mayhem, Metallica couldn't pull off anything like that.
