Would love some feedback from Idio, TakeNoPrisoners, Nev, anyone. Personally I think it's the best sounding thing I've ever engineered. I dream of being a studio recordist. And plus, I played every god damn instrument because I can play better than my own band.

Slayer ONLY have two good albums: Seasons In The Abyss and Show No Mercy.

Reign In Blood, Hell Awaits and South Of Heaven all suck cock.

They definitely are a big part of the origin of heavy metal, and helped start off NWOBHM, but they are not metal.

So, you're saying Motörhead is Rock N' Roll, not Heavy Metal... nice...

I think the bass, guitars and vocals all sound good. Vocals may be a touch overpowering but I couldn't make up my mind whether they were or not as my thoughts seemed to change constantly :P.
I can't hear the kick at all, and the rest of the drums seem far too back in the mix. I like the sound of it though, I likes me a raw-y drum kit :).

I think pretty much the same. Bass and guitar sounds great. I only disagree for the vocals and drums. The drums are pretty damn good the way they are, and I can't say why Nev doesn't hear the kick, cause I can. The part that isn't doing it for me are the vocals. They still fit with the music, but they really just aren't my style.

I seriously can't. I've had my head right next to both my speakers and my sub and its not coming through at all. I can sort of hear a low hum where the kick should be but no clarity or definition whatsoever.

How can you possibly get something as simple as heavy metal wrong? You compare Sabbath to Zeppelin and say Sabbath is heavier ( even though they had a tremendous blues influence ) than Zeppelin. Well I think I'll compare Demilich to Sabbath now. They're both heavy metal, but Demilich is a lot heavier. You guys act as if you have to play an exact scale or progression to be heavy metal and this is not the case. Heavy metal is based off of sound, not what you play.

sporklord, shut up. The reason Zep isn't metal isn't because they have a blues influence it's because THEY ARE BLUES ROCK. There's plenty of metal with blues influence, but Zep isn't that. It's blues rock.

BLUES

Ponos:

I dig it, but it sounds a little muddy. That may be intentional, since it's pretty stony, but the bass especially is a little muddy. That could just be a microphone issue. Also I think I'm having Nev's issue with the bass drum; I may be hearing it, but I'm not sure. I can't hear it very well at all. The song itself is pretty sick, so props on that!

Basically what I'm getting at:

- Low frequencies need a little more clarity, 'cause it's kind of muddy as is
- Vocals are maybe a little too high in the mix?
- Bass and guitar kind of blend together
- More bong loads
- Kick drum needs to be loudah 'cause I can barely hear it
- The bass intro in the beginning actually sounds really good and not muddy, so I'm thinking it may be the guitar that's muddy?
- Hearing a lot of Kyuss influence, and that's dope
- Great job

From my initial listening of the song, I was pretty blown away by the overwhelming Kyuss influence. The riffs are really cool and you've captured the stoner sound perfectly (what tuning are you in?). The only thing is that the vocals are way too high in the mix and you don't have the perfect voice. Sorry to be harsh, but we only want truthful criticism right? The drums are just played adequately, but I think that you need to find your perfect groove. I think part of that stems from the shitty drum quality.

Overall, it's catchy and while it's Kyuss-like, it's not a ripoff by any means. Keep it up.

Here I am, bored with everything.

About this, Ponos, did you put a high pass filter on the guitars? If you do that (up to around 200hzish give or take) then you clear up all the noisy, rumbly, muddy bits on the electrics so that the low frequencies are free for the bass and kick to "breathe".

Great argument guys

" Led Zeppelin isnt metal "
" how? "
" they're just not "

This is one of the reasons I hate it here, you guys get so fucking technical with everything that you overlook the simplest shit.

Clearly we don't as that argument is pretty damn simple.
And is really the only reasoning you need. Listen to the music, and then listen to early Maiden or Sabbath, there is a huge difference in the sound and the feeling of the music. There is something more dark and aggressive in there that there isn't in Led Zeppelins music. In Led Zeppelin you've got a shit load of songs full of iconic Rock riffs and lyrics about 'my baby'.

I don't know what sort of answer you're looking for here. First you criticize us for not having reasons for Zeppelin being metal. Now you're saying that we're being too technical. You're speaking out of both sides of your mouth, even in this post I've quoted; are we being too technical or are our arguments too simple?

Like I said, if you have to ask why Zeppelin aren't metal, you're never going to know. Zeppelin don't sound like any other metal bands. They do, however, sound like a ton of blues rock and hard rock bands. I don't know what sort of answer you're looking for. Actually, I do know-sort of. You're not looking for an answer at all, you just want us to concede and say "yeah, you're right, Zeppelin is metal, how wrong of us." Don't hold your breath.

As for your arguments... they're not exactly a Swiss army knife, either. "Zeppelin are metal!" "How?" "They're heavy!"

Speaking of Led Zep, I wanna check out some more blues rock stuff. I already have everything Zep did from Led Zeppelin I to and including Houses of the Holy. I'll probably start with Mountain, especially since Clutch sure seems to like covering them and Leslie West, and I love Clutch.

So don't come back?

If you want to find a place to discuss Led Zep and whatnot, either find a club for 'rock' or 'blues rock/hard rock' or make one yourself, and leave this place to the discussion of metal.

I love classic rock, especially the dirty blues sound. Try Cream, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, and The Doors for more of that great music if you're interested.

Hey guys, listen to this.

Composed, performed, recorded and engineered by me.

Well, except for that bong hit at the beginning. That was performed by Mr. Huggy Bear.

Pretty dope... Except for the guitar. I had no problem with the chords, those sounded good, but the fact that the whole time it was just DUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUH. No sustain... I like that kind of melodic-chugging (for want of a better term...) when it's stupid fast, but I don't think it fit the speed of this song.

Everything else sounded good for doing it all yourself though.
Good show ol' bean.
