Christ Duff, you make it sound like people who listen to Death Metal do so whilst sipping brandy and smoking very, very fine cigars. Hardly the case.
I lol'd at the mental image. Usually that's associated with atmospheric black metal. A lot of the atmospheric black metal fans I know are trendy pretentious Starbuck coffee sipping hipsters.

The band Dalnaki was talking about... Dream Death... is not really a Death Metal band.
Dream Death is death metal, HeavenDuff. Death/doom to be exacty. I know using some kind of guttural vocals would solidify their position as a DM band, but you have to keep in mind vocals don't make the music. I know it's not legit DM in the modern sense, but mind you, it was the 80s. Plus, they're a good representation of what early death/doom sounded like.
Also, guy who doesn't like gutturals. Try some Cancer. I don't think their vocals will grate you too much, as they're super raspy, as opposed to the guttural ones commonly used in DM. Or even some Leukemia if you want to hear what glam sounds like if combined with DM. Ha, I kid, they're not really like that. You should just hear all of Suck My Heaven. I have a few more, but I don't know if you'll like them.
If you want more DM with vocals that aren't super guttural or anything, and if you have Facebook, add my friend. He knows a fucking lot about DM, even more than I do. Metal in general, too. Also, don't worry, he's easy to approach and a pretty nice guy. So yeah, basically anyone who wants to learn more metal stuff should add him.
Also, who's with me on that this is a beautiful song?
