Stormwarrior, early Helloween, Manowar, Virgin Steele, Sabaton, early Fates Warning, Rage, Iron Fire, Blind Guardian, Grave Digger, Gamma Ray, etc.

All good power metal bands with balls.

ALSO, EVERYONE READ THIS:

If you want a GOOD new age thrash metal band with power metal influences listen to these guys: Razormaze

Their album is fucking great, I recommend it to everyone who likes more speedy and melodic thrash metal.

Also they're going on their first US tour - all American users should go see them as the shows re only 5-10 bucks each!

YES! Myself and Duff have mentioned them a few times.
Maybe Kiddi too.

Their LP is really great too.

You absolutely need to check out Hour of Penance then. They have close ties to Fleshgod.

Just got back from the Fates Warning show in CT last night! And all I can say is this: AMAZING.

For starters: All the bands opening were great - Vengeance, Myopia, Infinite Descent, Legion and Shadows Sanctuary. (Myopia and SS are power metal, Legion and Vengeance are traditional metal and Infinite Descent is like Arch Enemy only GOOD.)

The show was sold out and jam packed - so roughly 3,000 people.

And there wasn't any AC or fans and they ran out of water quick - so needless to say it was about 100 degrees in there, if not more.

Then fates came on....GOD - jizz in my pants!

They played for two fucking hours and in that time they played the album Parallels in it's entirety!

Needless to say, i'm beat.

I downloaded Fleshgod Apocalypse's EP and LP. That was fucking sick.

Also, I know that Andrew W.K. isn't metal, but the kid at 2:19 in this video is my friend Luc. This video is, as he described it, the "apex of his life."

My favorite by Fleshgod Apocalypse is still Retrieving My Carcass. At 1:19 they start playing a classical lead riff over the badass rhythm section. This is one of the biggest eargasm I ever had :P

No kidding, I'm so jealous. When I saw the Aquabats!, some of my friends and I went onstage to fight a giant tortilla monster, but that comes nowhere close to actually playing with Andrew W.K.

Still rad! But I like how he just owned the stage :) That was epic :)

Upcoming shows I could probably see in Montreal. What do you guys say?
Immolation, Abigail Williams, Pathology and Lecherous Nocturne
Cynic, Intronaut and Dysrhythmia
Nevermore, Hatesphere, Warbringer and Mutiny Within

I showed a metalhead friend of mine Fleshgod Apocalypse. Keep in mind that he's a drummer, and a very good one. When he was listening to Abyssal, he said "dude... is that a drum machine, or a real drummer?" When I told him he was real, he was like "shit... that guy is a fucking MONSTER"

I found this band, they're called Psychotic Waltz. They are a prog metal band from the 90s with lots of funk and jazz influence. They are interesting to the say the least. I suggest checking them out.

Hey, I only joined about a year ago, so I really don't know past conversations. I never saw them brought up, so I thought I'd suggest them.

It's hard to get these conversations to lift up when Oppugnant is not really active. But I'd like to know what you guys think of the album Affiliated With The Suffering by the band Blood Red Throne. Well... no... not really... I don't want opinions from random people. I'd like to know what fans of BRT think of this album. Cause I think it's an amazing album. Oppugnant and I have been sharing our thoughts on some of their albums a few times in the past already, but we never had the chance to discuss this album. So... yeah... Go! :)

I found a band with songs over six hours long.
I'm scared to listen to these guys alone - so you guys should all download some of their songs with me.

This will be....interesting.

It's not metal, but man, it's so epic.

Pendulum ABC theme song remix

Original ABC theme song

It's that epic it SHOULD be classified as metal (the original, the remix is just out of this world)

yeah, I've been listening to more Pendulum than metal this past week.

I do try =( Not a lot of conversation revolving around Brutal/Tech Death Metal these days which is basically all I listen to for metal at the moment. Been exploring other genres pretty heavily

But I'd like to know what you guys think of the album Affiliated With The Suffering by the band Blood Red Throne.

The intro sample for the opening track is really something, sets such a evil mood for the whole album.
The overall sound is raw and very powerful and the production is just right. As for vocals it has Mr. Hustler, nuff said ;p

Overall I agree it's a fantastic album I think I like it more than their newest and my favourite track being Razor Jack; such a catchy tune. :D

I've already listen to the first two songs on the album "Ultimate Fate Of The Universe"

needless to say, it was disappointing. I still liked it, it was just not anywhere nearly as awesome as I had hoped.

I made a thread about them for great justice btw.

I love Blood Red Throne, and I think Affiliated With The Suffering is their best album yet. Highly technical and enjoyable, and listened to it for about 17 hours until I finally decided to listen to other stuff. Still really can't find a major fault with it.

At this point, I'm not impressed with uber long track lengths, I just sigh at how ridiculously long they are. If we're talking about the most ridiculous track lengths of ANYTHING, look no further than Longplayer. They expect to play that shit for a fucking millennium!
