I've taken a liking to this band Nazgul over the years. Ponos probably remembers loling at them a while back but they're great if you like Summoning and other epic black metal with lots of synth. I've also been listening to Austere which have very similar shrieky pigeon-ey vocals. You guys know of any other bands with vocals like this?
:Listen to the link you bastards it's good stuff.

Depends how hard you go. If you headbang(i.e have seizures) like Jens Kidman, then you should be fine and headache free. However if you're going hard out and waving your neck around you're bound to hurt something.
But yeah, I've experienced it. Usually when I'm drunk.

Nazgul don't work for me. They don't come off as epic, they come off as.... Bad.
BIG NO NO NUMBER ONE
Synth trumpets. I don't like them.
BIG NO NO NUMBER TWO
Sounding like Varg Vikernes in 1992 with a sore throat.
I think depressive black metal is a lot more epic than epic black metal just because it lacks the incredibly cheesey.... Everything.
You could argue that black metal as a whole is cheesey. But you'd be wrong.
So you kids here that don't know your Brenoritvrazorkre from your Dimmu Borgir, black metal is an incredibly expansive genre that can sound like a lot of different things.
If you hear one thing and don't like it, don't give up.

Listen and expand your mind. Just like Hector Berlioz when he tripped on opium in 1830 and wrote Symphonie Fantastique.

Then Liszt came up with a piano transcription that is really great too.
Closest thing to stoner piano music you will ever hear. The program (the meaning) of this piece is that this guy is in hell at his own funeral and there's all these witches and shit.

Shame, Death are much better than Cannibal Corpse. However, they have had some media attention so I suppose it only makes sense for them to be the best selling death metal band.

I've seen a fair difference between DVD and blu-ray so I'll get the film on blu-ray if I can. Plus, I could do with more blu-ray films as I only have a few so far ever since Christmas.

They're an acquired taste. True thought that it is one of the weak points. They can get grating if it's not your thing.
I think depressive black metal is a lot more epic than epic black metal just because it lacks the incredibly cheesey.... Everything.
That depends. I've seen quite a few depressive bands that are cheesy as fuck.
So you kids here that don't know your Brenoritvrazorkre from your Dimmu Borgir
I thought you were all about sludge and shit now, youngin'.
Also, Ashdautas is pretty dece. Plus, older Diamatregon is good. I had only heard Crossroads until about a week ago. Echtra is also really good in my opinion. A lot of people would probably find them too monotonous but it gets pretty trance-ey after a while. Sucks you in.
So I opened my email inbox and guess what my newest email was.

No Mayhem, Immortal, Emperor, Darkthrone? There are a shitload of more awesome Black metal bands. Also I'd say that list is much more atmospheric than just straight black metal.
Also talking about Varg, I don't think Burzum should be labeled as just black metal. The only thing that really comes close to black metal from him is a few songs off Filosofem and Belus, everything else is just bad 1 second riffs looped over for 8 minutes.

No, Arcturus, Solefald, Klabautamann, and Rotting Christ are definitely better.

I worded that wrong, I didn't mean more talented better. I meant that the list is mainly atmospheric/ melodic. Add some variety.
My favorite bands are
1) Stemm
2) Symphony in Peril
3) Bleed the Sky
4) As i Lad Dying
Hey guys, I was looking for, I don't know, heavier than average power metal. Do you know any bands like that? Bands that are still power metal, but are heavier than normal power metal.

Out of those bands I only know as i lay dying and they're not metal.
I would suggest re-doing the list with ten bands that are with a doubt metal.

Sludge and doom and stoner, and I front a stoner rock band. But I still appreciate the black metal.

Pffft. Only noobs listen to them =P
And no. Not atmospheric. More complex.
Also talking about Varg, I don't think Burzum should be labeled as just black metal.
Repetition is a key element. Of course, more sophisticated music should incorporate a system of thematic transformation but Burzum have always been about stripped back repetition and trance like black metal. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.
I dig the shit out of the atmosphere in Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Filosofem.

That depends on what you mean by "normal" but I'd just say go with Helstar.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

By normal I mean stuff like Gamma Ray, Helloween, Black Majesty, Dragonland, etc. I've heard of Helstar, but I always thought they were thrash metal.

Early Blind Guardian could fit that description, though they're more speed than anything.
Also, the Lord Weird Slough Feg.

Helstar a classic example of what 80s USPM sounds like. USPM tends to be heavier than their European counterparts.

I should have added more than just atmospheric. Borknagar isn't "atmospheric" like syth and all that shit but more progrssive and melodic.

I didn't say all of filosofem was bad only a few songs. Like Dauði Baldrs and Hliðskjálf. I can't stand listening to this kind of thing, or at least not for 9 minutes.

Yeah I take back darkthrone, but I still stand by my others. And besides that list was for people getting into bm, not black metal bands we all listen to already.
