Why do you 90 percent of you guys act so stuck up? Slipknot revolutionized metal in so many ways it's ridiculous. Slipknot was the Muse of metal for a long time. They were the one band that could have a show where no one else would play, and yet could draw in crowds that GROUPS of bands could only dream of. As far as live experiences go, I have yet to see a band bring in the energy and spirit that Slipknot brings to the stage, and they will go down in history for being one of the best of all time in stage presence.
Maybe it's just because I've always been a drum guy at heart, and between one of the greatest drum part writers ever in Joey Jordison, whos influences can be seen in almost every metal band of the day, and a unique percussionist who adds different drums and beats to songs that no other band has ever brought to the table, and to have been constantly revolutionizing their sound for as long as they have, to me, demands respect. In Psychosocial, in the last breakdown, the percussionist puts on a high quality marching snare and really drives along with the rhythm and the whole thing sounds amazing. Ten years after they first started doing it, and they're still coming up with unique ways to incorporate different types of drumming into their music that other bands have never even considered previously.
A lot of the fan bases for a lot of the different genres of metal have come from huge bands like Slipknot opening peoples eyes. You guys can act all high and mighty and continue your "Oh Hotelcore is way better than Golf Metal" crap and spend more time putting labels on bands than actually listening to the music, but the fact is that the wide ranges and diversity of Metal as it is today is HUGELY influenced by Slipknots actions over the last 10 years. Paul Gray played a huge part in that, and it's a shame he has passed on. My thoughts are with the families and friends, and hopefully we'll see the band bounce back from it stronger than ever. I'm sure that's what Paul would have wanted.
Now I'm going to disappear again because you're all a bunch of know-it-all cunts who want to bitch and moan about which bands qualify as what genre and blah blah blah instead of just enjoying good music, and respecting people who have carved the way for metal as it is today, evidenced by your reaction to Paul Grays death. I knew you'd all be loling about it since he doesn't play for Opeth as soon as I heard the news though, so I figured I'd swing by and try and slap some sense into your dumbass heads. We'll see how that goes though. Not trying to judge on all of you, I know there's some good guys in here. The attitude in this place just bothers me.
