Well, black metal is pretty much the most extreme form of heavy metal. It is definitely an acquired taste though.

Actually from what I understand, the two bands DO hate each other.

They played some fest in the 90's together and they tried sabotaging each other sets. (I've heard this before, not sure if it's accurate)

Also, according to several articles i've read about early Megadeth is that they formed with the promise that they would one day completely outshine metallica.

After how fucking long?

Also, Black Metal isn't about being "extreme" or whatever. The whole genre as we know it today, originated by Norwegians by the way (I defy you to list another scene that influenced the genre as much as them), came about to be different than what was out there. They didn't want to be "Black Metal" per-se. It was just them making music that they felt was different and unique. Hence why a lot of older black metal bands dislike a lot of the new ones. There are just too many bands that steal ideas and sounds from other bands, i.e. Dimmu Borgir. The whole idea of the music in the first place was to make something unique on a band by band basis. Hence why Immortal sounds nothing like, say, Enslaved or Darkthrone.

Hello, Mr. Metal-archives. Norway wasn't the start of BM, most of them were wankin off INRI. Also, ever hear of bands like Beherit, Blasphemy, Bathory, and Hellhammer? Now I know there's more bands, but you can find them for yourself.
Saying shit like that is like saying Slayer was the first death metal band. Ridiculous.

M.A., huh?

Don't fucking presume to be able to argue with me on this you little shit. You don't know anything about what you're talking about. You don't even understand my fucking argument. Black Metal as we know it today came about in Norway. I'm the first person here to argue the fucking beginnings of the genre, since the genre itself came about elsewhere, but the sound of Black Metal as we know it formed in Norway. I never said that they fucking invented the genre. I said they were tired of listening to cookie cutter death metal bullshit and came up with the sound we hear today. They had no influences. Ask the fucking people who made the music. So there goes your dopey ass Sarcófago argument. I've been arguing since before you fucking came to this site in this group that Norway didn't invent the genre. The one thing I can't argue is that they defined the sound. I'm one of the biggest elitists here and I despise Black Metal from Norway, but I cannot deny that fact.

Also, ever hear of bands like Beherit, Blasphemy, Bathory, and Hellhammer?

Also, I've listened to those bands and the genre a lot longer than you have, sport.

You've pissed off how many people in your short little time here? Fuck off you leech. I'm done with you.

I've realized a while ago that the anonymity of the Internet is one of its flaws and here's a prime example. Mr. Tough Shit here thinks he can argue with the senior members about a really fucking INSIGNIFICANT detail of metal's HISTORY. While I do realize most of history is interpretation, there are some basic facts that everyone can agree on, and this particular one, black metal's refinement in Norway, is one of those basic facts. Dalnaki, I would suggest you take your deformed foot out of your ass and shove it in your mouth for a while before this threat becomes more than a threat.

I don't really see what the problem is here, I mean, yeah, I probably misunderstood what he was trying to say in the beginning, but that doesn't change the fact that it's pretty ridiculous to say that Norway set the mold for a particular style of music when other bands were playing it around the world too, at the same time, and before this style shift happened with the Norgay BM bands. I mean a good example of this would be Master's Hammer, who were playing the norwegian brand of BM before it even existed, even though they were Czech.

That's like saying that every DM band is influenced by the Swedish sound, when there were other scenes around the world at the same time. Of course, feel free to ignore what I said Mr. Internet Tough Guy and fling insults my way while insisting that Norwegian BM is tr00 and frostbitten.

Though, that being said, I have a question to ask. Why do you guys treat me like I know nothing, just because you've been a Metal Hell regular longer than I have? Metal Hell isn't the be-all end all of metal, and neither is Metal-Archives.

The Norwegian brand of black metal has been incredibly influential, and you know that. Look at any black metal band and ask them about their influences and they're bound to say stuff like Immortal, Burzum, Mayhem, etc. That's not to say that Norway is the greatest black metal spawning country (far from true actually. Greeks do it better), but the influence is still there.

Death metal is not black metal. Things evolve differently. Death metal has roots and influences from every country. England created grindcore, the US added progressive influences to death metal (think Death, Cynic, Atheist), and the Swedes added more melody. Black metal has been traditionally more bit more confined to a certain sound until very recently. Black metal's evolution is really just beginning actually.

Though, that being said, I have a question to ask. Why do you guys treat me like I know nothing, just because you've been a Metal Hell regular longer than I have? Metal Hell isn't the be-all end all of metal, and neither is Metal-Archives.

Because you're a huge cunt that's why. We know that MA is not the ultimate source on metal, but a guide is a guide nevertheless. If we didn't use MA then any old band is metal in one way or another. Not to mention, YOU'RE not the end all of all metal knowledge either. Your opinions aren't fact.
