not all the time, of course i know they are not metal, as people have said, but i dont think RATM go swearing to look hardcore, and they swear alot in their songs, in fact, it sounds fucking (pardon the unfunny funny) good :D

Swearing just to swear is lame.

very true, swearing can also add a punch to music, like, at the end of the song killing in the name of, what if zack screamed IDIOT (or something which fits) instead of MOTHERFUCKER?

Just get Among the Living. Also, if you don't hate hip-hop like pretty much every self-proclaimed metalhead does, their collab with Public Enemy is fucking great.

New Misery Index is some gooood Deathgrind.

Unless it's for comedic purposes like Mikael who joked about being the first person to say cunt in the Royal Albert Hall. And yes, swearing in a song is perfectly fine since there are artists who can get it right. Take that NCC!

Katatonia - Ghost of the sun

Good example of a song where the swearing improves the lyrics.
It adds a feeling of honesty.

Notice how he doesn't mention any Metallica albums?

Even though they're who they blatantly stole from for 'inspiration'.

Can you guess the band without clicking the link?

Response to Metal Hell 2010-05-12 13:58:22

I guess its because Matt already hypes up Metallica enough as it is.
The albums on that list were also pretty good.

What...

The Sound Of Perseverance
Blackwater Park
Dead Heart in a Dead World

Are far from generic, some of the albums were meh. But not them.

Opinions on this?

And on the fact that they are playing at the Mayhem Festival...

Suicide Silence? Mayhem? What the fuck? Aren't Mayhem one of those ridiculous Norwegian bands who think black metal is about being frosty, atmospheric, and gay? Instead of like, you know, raw, evil, filthy and primitive.

So what's a scene band doing at a norgay festival?

Response to Metal Hell 2010-05-12 16:04:55

I think it is time you go read about both the Mayhem Festival and the band Mayhem...

I'm sorry did you just slander mayhem? You need to go suck a fatty and then listen to mayhem.

You can dislike Mayhem... but saying they don't have anything agressive and raw in their material is kind of silly...

I wouldn't know, I don't listen to Norgaygian BM.

Yeah, I just meant that they basically started the whole norwegian black metal scene. All of their albums have been evil and completely aggressive. Although they are atmospheric, but in a good way.

Maybe I'm just not much of a black metal fan but not once have I listened to Mayhem. Strange how I've been listening to metal for four years now yet I haven't listened to some well known artists. Black Label Society, whether they're good or not, I actually haven't heard a single song of theirs and quite often I hear about them.

I may not like the guy but I'll give him credit for having some originality with his top 10 metal albums, even if the lack of Metallica is rather suspicious.

At 5/12/10 02:17 PM, Dalnaki wrote: Good? More like generic as fuck.

What would be generic as fuck is having Paranoid, The Number of the Beast, Master of Puppets, Painkiller and Rust in Peace in the top 5. I love these albums but those would be the most obvious choices for a top 10 metal list and Heafy didn't mention ANY of them.

For Norway is the place of birth of Black Metal... even if you dont like Norwegian BM... you still have to give them credits for all they did !!!

Dave Mustache was the first lead guitarist of metallica, but he was kicked out of the band due to alcohol abuse. Later he started Megadeth.
The 'hate' between the two bands (that is actually not existing) is the song 'Mechanix' (by megadeth) and 'The four horsemen' (by metallica), wich is the same song.
