Can anybody here give me a comprehensive list of the good bands from the NWOBHM and their best albums?
I'd like more NWOBHM in my library, or Metal bands that are similar to NWOBHM. As long as there's no growling.
Thanks in advance!

Heck yes! Thank you, Finally some concrete dates.

If anyone just focuses on the basic ones and not expand their horizons in metal, their loss.Sadly that is something that happens quite often.
Again, if it happens, their loss. They'll be the ones missing out on a lot of great stuff. We can easily forget them.
Naming ten metal bands may be quite a challenge but if one doesn't provide enough metal bands they know, we can show them the second list of metal bands and see what they'll enjoy from there. For anyone who comes in and isn't able to name a single metal band, they should have a look at our gateway list.So two lists? Alright dude :P
Did you even read my initial post about this?
Even the earlier stuff by In Flames has a poppish song structure.
*heads his head repeatedly against a wall* Seriously, I get sick of these stupid comments about a particular subgenre of metal. I'm not a big fan of melodeath but throwing the term pop around is downright retarded.

What are you agreeing with exactly? Idio didn't even understand the basic concept. Duff's arguing has nothing to do with the idea that I initially proposed. What the fuck does some kind of agreed list of introductory Metal bands for newbs with fail entry lists have to do with being tr00 and any kind of snobbery whatsoever. It's the opposite if anything.

Venom - Welcome to hell
Saxon - Denim and leather
Tygers of pan tang - Wild cats
Angel Witch - Angel witch
Praying mantis . Time tells no lies
Diamond head - Diamond head
Demon - Unexpected guest
Since i have not listened to NWOBHM lately, the more obscure bands aren't fresh in my memory. The albums and bands above are what i think are some of the best of NWOBHM, if you went on youtube you'd find a lot more.

You're missing the best death metal bands from that list anyway.

Love it. But like, I think Gorod is better than all of those bands. They're my absolute favourite death metal band at the moment.
I mean... I know a few death metal bands... but I don't think death metal is the best genre to start with. It's very complexe, progression is really fast, time signatures are confusing and that's just a few reasons why it's hard to start with Death Metal.
Some people are musicians and understand shit. The only people who don't like death metal are the people who don't get real music. I am a real prick aren't I.

I should go to the Sydney gig to meet up with you bro. Although the odds of that are pretty shit. I'm going to Sydney at christmas already, so I'll probably go see them in Adelaide.
Oh god, after these, I WILL HAVE SEEN EVERY BAND IN THE BIG FOUR OF THRASH.
A very metal accomplishment. Anthrax's mosh pit was my favourite ever.

I assume you're talking about the MP3 downloads. I've only downloaded a few songs but the quality is satisfying for me. I'm not sure what others think but if you're not too picky, there should be nothing to worry about.

Here are my recommendations. I'm including Iron Maiden, simply because they are NWOBHM, but everyone does know them.
Diamond Head- Lightning to the Nations
Witchfynde- Cloak & Dagger
Iron Maiden- Piece of Minde
Tygers of Pan Tang- Spellbound
Angel Witch- Angel Witch
Venom- Black Metal
Raven- All For One
Saxon- Denim and Leather
Grim Reaper- See You In Hell
Pagan Altar- Mythical And Magical
Yeah, those are mine, some of the more basic ones, but are still good.

A few days ago I realized I have no metal bands that start with U. It's been bothering me, because it looks weird that I have some for every letter of the alphabet and I don't have any U's. So, to fix this crisis, I ask for good metal bands that start with the letter U. Don't say Ulver, cause I've checked them out and I don't care for them.

Melodic Death Metal as poppish song structures. With catchy chorus, catchy lead melodies, sing along parts, clean vocals with easy words to remember. No, they are not all the same. But melodic death metal is wayyy easier to understand than actual death metal. Stop calling me a retard for stating obvious facts.
I do like melodic death metal, sadly, a lot of people get stuck on that fucking level PERIOD

It sucks that I don't have uTorrent anymore. I need to have these bands on my iPod to truly enjoy them. Listenning to them on YouTube is frustrating cause I can't bring that awesome music with me.
Some people are musicians and understand shit. The only people who don't like death metal are the people who don't get real music. I am a real prick aren't I.
Right :)
Death Metal is great, I don't have enough old-school stuff on my playlist though...
Need some Death, some Atheist and some Morbid Angel :)

That's what I thought also... but I didn't list my favorite death metal bands to be tr00... I listed them because the guy said he thought he knew more about death metal than us, so that was just a list to tell the guy he was wrong...
At 4/28/10 08:38 PM, Nev wrote: Not caring about Ulver makes you wrong :P.
True :)
Btw, I see there is a lot of bands and albums list on this page...
But what are these lists for? Are we still trying to make a list for new members?
About that list thingy...
I see I have posted two lists on the same page. One with my favorite death metal bands and one list of bands I thought should be on a list for new members.
Anyway... I don't know why you were complainning about it Idio, cause in both case, I was not trying to proove I was true, I was in fact, trying to help those who are interrested in metal finding bands to start with.
Anyway, sorry for that double-post. I just think it's annoying to get flammed for no reason.

Ulver's first two albums are among the finest black metal albums that will ever exist, and their third album is one of the most beautiful albums to ever be created, so really the jokes on you.
My favourite that starts with a U is Ufomammut. They're great tripping metal, get Snailking.

At 4/28/10 10:02 PM, MudkipsPiano wrote: Nah man, I mean, like buying the actual album off amazon. It says New, but is amazon trustworthy? I've never used it before.
Amazon themselves are good but don't offer the cheapest prices. Plus, it can take time for them to ship out certain albums. As for the Amazon sellers, it's a matter of taking risks. Only a minority have 99/100% positive feedback while most are around 90 - 96. Sure, it's still high but there's a good chance of something bad happening to your order. I've had some bad experiences before.

God. Fucking. Dammit. If you're just going to throw that stupid term around, you may as well call other parts of metal pop and compare them to Britney Spears. I hear catchy choruses, catchy lead melodies and sing along parts in many other metal bands who aren't melodeath in the slightest.
With catchy chorus, catchy lead melodies, sing along parts, clean vocals with easy words to remember.
In that case, you may as well call Iron Maiden pop. That's why your logic fails and why the term pop should never be thrown around in heavy metal.
Stop calling me a retard for stating obvious facts.
Obvious facts? Give me a break.
