Hey guys, anyone in here knows about Keith Merrow?

The guy is fucking awesome! He makes that music all alone and you can download some of his stuff on last.fm. I think it's amazing. You guys need to listen to his stuff, it's brilliant !!!

I listen to Hoobastank, Skillet and Our Lady Peace with some Metallica on the side.
Do I qualify as a medal head?

Not everybody knows all the underground/not so well known but still awesome bands when they first start out. Hell I bet you never even heard of Destruction or Warbringer when you first started listening to metal.

That's why people come here, so we can expand their metal tastes.

and now the standard tunnel view of 'RAHRAHYOU'REGAYANDNOTKVLTENUF' part of the post: LISTEN TO MORE BANDS BEFORE YOU RE-APPLY >:(

I googled Drist and the first thing that comes up is saying they're a punk band. We'll provide you with recommendations if you need them.

I started with Nightwish, Wintersun, Ensiferum, and some other metal band. I think it may have been Tyr or something.

I know it's a shame, but I started listening to Metal with System of a Down, even if it's not Metal for you, but the first real metal band I've ever heard is Metallica. I don't know if it could happen with another band, but I started playing guitar because of System of a Down, but they don't influence me anymore, and I think they never did at all...

Also, I remember that Slipknot was my favourite band some months ago, I am ashamed. I hate them now...

When i first started listening to metal i listened to classic metal exclusively(including hair metal).
Then i became less closeminded and realised that modern metal is good too, and began listening to more progressive and extreme bands.
Eventually i also discovered metalcore bands, as i grew detached from my elitist mentality.

I wouldn't say so...

A lot of metalheads have way tooooo much self-confindence and see their tastes as the bests...
It's sad to say... but not a lot of the people who join this play at first come here to learn... a lot of them probably think they will be the one teaching in fact...

May I join here? I'm pretty into metal/harcore music and I think this club would be cool to join.

If it matters, my favorite metal band is either Static-X, The Dillinger Escape Plan or Rammstein.
My favorite hardcore band is Korn, but another I like a good bit is System of a Down.

I like metal too, not just hardcore, I'll check that one out as well. Thanks for the link.

Can I join?
I'm basically a metalhead, just without the constant headbanging.
...
When music isn't playing.
I listen to Metallica, Fozzy, Disturbed, Aerosmith, Black Sabath, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Jimi Hendrix(can't tell if its metal or not...), KISS, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Rush, Scorpions, Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Motorhead, Killswitch Engage, Bon Jovi, AFI, and all that good stuff.
Do I have teh qualifications?

Not really, no. Theres a few acceptable bands in there, but most is just Rock/Hard Rock (good stuff, we don't consider it Metal). Maybe browse through some pages at random and check at a few bands you see us discussing.

You guys reckon we should perhaps have some kind of starter pack type thing? A list of bands for those interested but not quite tr00 enough. That way we could just quote the same old bands time and time again. I reckon its a clever idea.

'Fraid not. Rammstein perhaps, I'm not sure on our stance on them.

Yeah, Nonpoint's some little band I started listening to, they're kinda small time. I was thinking Godsmack was more Hard Rock, but I wanted to check.

I wouldn't be such a prick towards chirstianity if they diden't force there religon on pagan people. Norway and Sweden should be Pagan still it's land and culture<stroung> deserve to be free from the tyranny of the church.<stroung> Fuck if India can be proudly pagan why can't Norway and Sweden kick the church in the ass and proclaim themself Pagan countrys. Im not saying modern day christians are bad people by no means I have many freind who are catholic (same thing to me) but with the church letting pedophilles run rampant across lands it's rediculious.

On the subject of the bashing the child molesters this man is full of win.

Disregarding genres is pretty much what being elitist is.

I don't see how that's elitist. You like what you like, and you tend to ignore the stuff you don't like.
