I think we all know one thing for sure. Metalocalypse would try and whore the shit out of it.

Also, Chainsaw gutsfuck.

I listen to most Norwegian, Swedish, French and American black metal. But I need some more, and if there is another Norwegian black metal band that sounds very clean, I would like to know. If not, anything else would be great.

At 3/5/10 09:07 PM, TheSporkLord wrote: Yep currently listening to Limbs by agalloch. Sounds pretty cool so far. Also apparently meshuggah is avant-garde.

I don't think Meshuggah are avant-garde. And if they are, I like the genre much more than I expected. But I think they are Experimental metal.

I'm not a big fan of Meshuggah (although I keep listening to Bleed for some reason) nor Avant-Garde Metal but I don't really see them as Avant-Garde Metal either. Man, I like the song Bleed so much that I might just buy it separate from the rest of the album. I've tried a few other tracks from ObZen but I just can't get into them.

I liked ObZen. Messhugah is quite a strange band, but they have many interesting sounds. I still have Chaosphere, which I listen to frequently.

So I think Mayhem is my favorite 2nd wave(?) black metal band. I find them to be unique. Their vocals mainly. They just seem different from other black metal like Immortal, Emperor, or DarkThrone.

Im prettty sure Mayhem IS the first wave of black metal. I mean they are the first black metal band to exsist. Venom and king diamond were the influence to black metal.

Yeah, I REALLY don't consider stuff like Venom black metal.

I'm sorry, but I just can't.

It's thrash metal, and shittie thrash metal at that.

Anyway I saw Kreator last night!

Kreator played: Hordes Of Chaos, Demon Prince, Enemy Of God, Impossible Brutality, Violent Revolution, Servant in heaven king in hell, Phobia, When the sun burns black, Coma Of Souls, Terrible Certainty, Extreme Aggressions, Pleasure To Kill, Endless Pain, Flag Of Hate and Tormentor.

Voivod played: Voivod, Overreaction, Astronomy Domine, Brain Scan, Experiment and three other songs.

Nachtmystium played god knows what.

Evile played: Infected Nations and one other song off that album, Bathe In Blood, We Who are about to die, Thrasher and Enter The Grave.

Lazarus A.D. played a 25 medley of all there songs. haha

Kataklysm didn't play this show for some odd reason. :'(

TONIGHT i'm seeing Hammerfall, Powerglove, Frozen and Infinite Descent!

All of which are great bands, except Frozen whom I haven't heard of before.

Make war, not love.

Even if Lande and Allen are quite into power metal, I think their work together sounds more like traditionnal heavy metal with a power metal touch.

But I would have totally picked that song if you asked me which of their songs is the best.

as if experimental metal were a genre anyway, that basically means the same as avant-garde metal. and they're basically thrash metal. or "post-thrash". whatever.

I'd start throwing out avant-garde recommendations, but, like, fuck it.

Well, that depends on what your definition of a "real" band is. They come out with actual music, so in that sense, they're real, but the music isn't made by the characters on the show or anything.
