They seem to be accepted by a lot of people. However, I see them as more grunge than metal.

And I've also lost some more respect for Six Feet Under after they shat this out. You're a good band, guys. Really. But stop covering songs, because you're very bad at it.

Nostalgia man. I used to listen to Sonic Firestorm when I started getting into metal, hearing it again.... Nostalgic. And I think it's pretty awesome doing ZP Theart impersonations in mid coitus.

Look, you're stupid. Imagine having sex in time with this song. It cannot be beaten.

your girl is like our yoko ono or something

She likes power metal. That's Yoko Ono enough for me, but I guess AniMetal and Bahamut and stuff like it and they're not Yokos. You'd think I'd just dump a girl who had Sonic Firestorm on her iPod, what's wrong with me?

I have a question regarding power metal actually, hold on guys.

Meh, completely different styles. Brave Murder Day is death doom and has Mikael Akerfeldt singing. Great Cold Distance is like dark modern rock/metal.

Again, my sex albums are Images And Words, Perdition City

Speed metal is really fast heavy metal that isn't violent enough to be thrash or poncy enough to be power. It's a grey area of just really fast traditional. Usually European.

My favourite song right now is Ape Uprising! by Slough Feg.

The first three minutes I could go without. His vocals in the verse are very similar to The Final Gambit from Traveller, a slight change, except, bleh, it's his worst singing I've ever heard. But fuck, it just gets very awesome after that.

Something cool about Slough Feg is that they do that DT thing where they pull riffs from their past. But they do it a lot better. Not just riffs, but lyrics. And not in such a planned way like DT.

The reason why it doesn't work in the first verses of Ape Uprising is because it just sounds bad. I hate it when one of my favourite singers fucking DOES IT WRONG>>>>>>>>>>>

Actually another way of saying that is that they rehash Traveller a lot because they're lazy arseholes who exhausted all their skill into that record and just have to keep stealing it's riffs.

But I don't really believe that.

Slough Feg are great. Fuck. They're so good. They're the closest thing to power metal I listen to. I don't listen to power metal. But is this a mistake? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm.

Dragonforce might be why I don't like power anymore. Because they were my main power band, then when I grew to hate them, I might of associated the genre with them.

Dragonforce are probably the worst power metal band ever anyway.

They're very studio. Everything they do. It has this pop music, recording studio mentality that's more about sounding nice and selling records than making music. But it makes sense that power metal shouldn't be like that.

My favourite DF song. If I was asked what was their best, it would be this.

I actually think it's great. Studio-ish, but good.

Saying Rokuro instead of me makes more sense as he listens to just as much obscure power metal bands as AniMetal does. The least known power metal band I listen to is Savage Circus but they were originally formed by the ex-Blind Guardian drummer. I have no intentions to listen to so many bands from that particular genre. From now on, I'll only get into a power metal band if it sticks out well. Infact, I'm trying to avoid getting into anymore power metal bands for the time being to give bands from other genres a better chance, especially doom metal.

Hell fucking yes! Ever since getting the rest of the Slough Feg albums besides self-titled which is hard as fuck to get, I've been listening to this song the most.

The first three minutes I could go without. His vocals in the verse are very similar to The Final Gambit from Traveller, a slight change, except, bleh, it's his worst singing I've ever heard. But fuck, it just gets very awesome after that.

I notice its similarities with The Final Gambit and Warriors Dawn but that doesn't take away the quality of the song at all. I actually like the first three minutes of Ape Uprising as it builds up for the second half of the song.

Actually another way of saying that is that they rehash Traveller a lot because they're lazy arseholes who exhausted all their skill into that record and just have to keep stealing it's riffs.

But I don't really believe that.

Traveller is definitely the best album of theirs I've heard but the rest are also fantastic. All their albums are so good I keep going back to them when I should be giving most of my dad's music a listen to right now. Well OK, I'm listening to Opeth right now but only because my sister started sending the remaining albums to me on Friday.

Slough Feg are great. Fuck. They're so good. They're the closest thing to power metal I listen to. I don't listen to power metal. But is this a mistake? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm.

You know, I'm still trying to find one song that makes them power metal in the slightest. To me, they're traditional metal with folk elements as well as some doom here and there.

I wouldn't say it's the best album ever, or best power metal album ever either.

It's a classic in the same way as Megadeth's Rust In Peace album - not the best thrash metal ever, but a classic none the less.

I wouldn't know where to start recommending, to be honestly.

Do you want technical power metal like Symphony X and Angra? Do you want really melodic power metal like Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius?

It's like saying "Recommend me ONE thrash metal album" despite the fact you could consider both Evile and Obituary thrash metal and they are both opposites in terms of brutality versus melodiousness.

-------------------

Went to see Arch Enemy, Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within last night.

Mutiny Within = Shittie band, great singer when it comes to clean vocals yet he kept doing those shittie screamo vocals instead - which really irritated me. They played for a half an hour.

Arsis = Fucking amazing, however they played two new songs and they both sucked balls. Makes me not want to get there upcoming album. They played for 45 minutes.

Exodus = like last year when I saw them with Kreator, Belphegor, Warbringer and Epicurean they were MEGA brutal. The current singer does a really good job singing the old stuff live. They played for an hour, and they played Metal Command and I was very happy.

Arch Enemy = Were way better than I thought they'd be. The singer is gross and sucks, but the rest of the band really impressed me. I also enjoyed all their energy as they played for two hours.

------------------

Alright guys, I know you guys are going to hate me for this but...

Drone Metal, Doom Metal, Stoner Metal and Sludge Metal.

What is the differences between all these genres? What are some examples of purely each of thsoe types of metal?

I want to expand my taste into this part of the underground metal scene.

It's nice that you think he's a good singer. He's called Chris I believe. He's a friend of a friend. He moved from here to Jersey just for that band. A pretty big thing to do if you ask me, so you gotta respect that :).

Also, they used to be called With Intent, which is funny cause you could call them Within Tent then.
*Chuckles*.

Drone Metal, Doom Metal, Stoner Metal and Sludge Metal.
What is the differences between all these genres? What are some examples of purely each of thsoe types of metal?

Drone is incredibly, incredibly slow. It's pretty much atmospherical in its sound. And it's not really riff based but just Droney sounds... hence the name, yeah? Sunn O))) are like THE Drone band. But stuff like Wormphlegm, Boris, Khanate, Earth, Nadja are good Droney stuff too.
The album I'd strongly recommend is Sunn O))) and Boris' collaboration 'Altar'. It's fucking fantastic.

Doom is just Doom. It's slow, miserable, very heavy Metal. Think Black Sabbath. Although the genre has gone to new levels of heaviness and misery :P.
The best Doom album in my opinion in Warning's 'Watch from a Distance'. Just because it really is depression in the form of audio. Candlemass and Reverend Bizarre are tits also.

Stoner is Doom with the Bluesy influence and the weed lyrics jacked up and the bleakness removed.
Electric Wizard's 'Dopethrone' is the classic. Sleep's 'Dopesmoker' is too, although I don't like it. So try them and stuff like Weedeater and Bongzilla. Others will recommend High on Fire, but I don't really care for them.

Sludge is Doom mixed with Hardcore/Crust Punk. It's shouty, aggressive, slow and heavy.
Dystopia in my opinion are THE Sludge band. They're amazing. But Accept Death, Rwake, Lazarus Blackstar, Grief, Buried at Sea are all smashing too :).

The Human League - Don't You Want Me (The Very Best Of)
I want to expand my taste into this part of the underground metal scene.

Be slow, heavy, punky and sing about weed.

Sludge, doom and stoner all have common interests that can be spliced up and metamorphasised and combined. Sludge can be stoner doom plus hardcore, stoner can be slow heavy blues, doom just needs slowness and metal. Baaah.

I'm listening to Human = Garbage and it's fucking nice. Good on you Nev for discovering this awesome band. Also, I'm fucking drunk. Even though I'm 16 years old, I just went to this pub and they didn't ask for any ID. They just went with it.

Saw some cunt with a Marylin Manson shirt. It's just sad that people listen to such crappy shit.

I'm really happy. I love this shit. WE ALL LOVE METAL. METAL FUCKING RULES.

Well, a lot of what people call metal just sucks. We know the underground bands that no one listens to. Seriously, no one in real life has ever said, hey, I listen to Dystopia, they fucking rule. Only Nev has given me this gift, over the wonderous interwebs.

Also, I fucking hate Machine Head. GRRRRRRRRRRRR they suck.

So do Trivium. I don't even like Lamb of God. Fuck. BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I shouldn't really post this drunk but I WANT TO BECAUSE I LOVE YOU ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

LIKE SOME KIND OF WHOOOOOOOOOOORE.

Dystopia are sweet, thanks Nev. Nev, I've known you for like, fucking years. YEARS. Where has all this time gone? IT'S GONE. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE.

Saint Vitus, The Hidden Hand, Spirit Caravan, The Obsessed. Go listen, Wino fucking rules.

Fuck, Dystopia are AWESOME.

You suck...
But thanks.

If a band plays doom metal, they're doom metal. If they have a strong heavy blues influence and sing about weed, they're stoner doom. If they're really heavy and contain elements of hardcore like faster tempos and extreme vocals, they become SLUDGE DOOM STONER METAL. But really they should be just classified as stoner sludge. Bongzilla, Weedeater, High on Fire, are stoner sludge bands.

And what about Slam Death? What does it mean? :O

Blah, slamming is a hardcore related term. Slam death isn't a genre.

Agalloch - She Painted Fire Across the Skyline. Pt. 1

SHE PAINTED FIYAAAAAAAAA, ACROSS THE SKYLIIIINE!!!!!

Haha, I love Metalocalypse. Just.... Too drunk. Also, I'm so metal I just bought three Beethoven symphonies.

Oh, and I went with Keeper of the Seven Keys part I instead of Blind Gaurdian's Bla Bla Bla Bla Nightfall in Middle Earth. Nev lost, Bahamut won.

GOOD FOR YOU BAHAMUT. Bahamut, why is Keeper of the Seven Keys better than Nightfall in Middle Earth? I mean, I trusted you, but I've not listened to any of them.

Why am I getting more drunk each minute? This is fucked.

Metal Hell.
