Oh, thanks for reminding me.

Also, my death metal covers are awesome, yes/no/maybe?

Funniest shit about it is when you realise it's a loop and that the song beginning comes right after the end and over and over again. Awesome work

Is is a kind of attempt at trolling? Or maybe you are really serious...

Great song. Even better band. I'm actually wearing one of their t-shirts as I type this.

Out of curiosity, are you a fan of this band or are you more aware of the song due to Metallica covering it?

Except they're not.
Start accustoming yourself with some Death Metal and after a while of listening you'll be like 'Whoa, this really wasn't that heavy'.
I've been there and done it.

Sure.

Wintersun
Demoniac
Norther
Something else? :P

I really do hate the "Extreme" term... I just can't see it fitting any musical genre...

Its a fairly new genre. Its just a place to put those bands you look at and mindfuck yourself trying to classify them.

Hey, there's something I've been thinking about for a couple of weeks now.

Do you guys think that a track's place on an album can effect how enjoyable the song is?

Like, on Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy the big, climactic, multi-part Epic is at the very start of the first disc. I think that's a little silly, and the end of the song seems like an anti-climax because of it. Like, who wouldn't want to end an album with "THE KING FOOOR A THOOOOOUUUUUUUSAND YEEEEARS"?

To me, there just seem to be songs that are meant to either start or end an album. Would Reign in Blood have been as good if 'Raining Blood' was the first track and say 'Necrophobic' was the last track?

Tell me what you think.

Of course it does. Thats why people spend a lot of time planning the order of an album to increase the effectiveness of songs.

Yeah, most times I find the single (Great song) is either the first, second, or third song. This is pretty much 90% of the time. I do see some bands that place their "Singles" or great songs toward the middle or random. But you're right. Most of the time you can tell how good a song is based on it's track number.

Also, you can always tell a good band when you find one, because you'll like the entire album, regardless of track. :3

Yes. Just think about Operas or maybe metal opera... if you want to stay on the subject of metal. Normally Opera is a story, with a beginning and an end. In that case and when you make atmospheric records, the order of the tracks if freakin important. Just think about Ashes Against The Grain by Agalloch. It's all about the atmosphere and the order of the tracks... well... along with the fact that the tracks are fucking awesome... but these are just details...

Also, bands writting song that are not related to each others, than to place the songs they think to be the bests at the beginning and sometime the end of the album. It's a basic thing you learn when studying psychology... you always remember the beginning and the end best.

Also, The Black Dahlia Murder is coming soon to the capital. I used to like them a lot, but I think they're pretty average now I guess IMO. It'd be a decent show, I think, would you guys go?

I still like the most brutal stuff a little better. But of course, brutal and technical is the best. Blood Red Throne and Benighted ftw!

Necrophagist will always be bad ass. I myself like Psycroptic. Ob(servant) was totally bad ass. Symbols of failure was also a very good album.

Trains are old school. There's a train station half an hour from here but it only ships stuff back and forth. There's also the tallest train tracks in America a few hours away. No train can take me there, though. I was thinking of getting a friend to drive or something, but I might have to spend the night with a douche.

In the vein of Iron Maiden, I suggest:
The Lord Weird Slough Feg
Angel Witch
Iced Earth
Saxon
Bruce Dickinson's Solo stuff

In the vein of Motorhead, I suggest High on Fire

In the vein of Dethklok, I suggest:
In Flames
Wintersun
Kataklysm
Amon Amarth

And I cannot suggest anything for the Crue because I hate glam metal. Sorry.
