Funny comming from our biggest Nu-Metal fan in here. A lot of core kids look like they are always trying to mess with anyone. Core is way too often... angry music. It's not agressive like death metal, it's agressive because it sounds angry. So maybe the fact that they look angry makes you think of that comparison.
But Limp Bizkit looks more like guys who messes around just to mess around.

The difference between metalcore/nu-metal is mainly the fanbase and influences.

You can also compare the band to a later Alternative band. If you can hear some similarities, than you can assume it's nu-metal or core.

What a shame, Mister Jensen.

I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

When The Last Grave Has Emptied - Unhallowed

I Worship Only What You Bleed - Nocturnal (my favourite song)

And their band pictures :P (FUCKING STRETCHY SHITS)

The only band members I actually like are sexy Trevor (vocalist) and Shannon (drums), I love Trevors voice and Shannon is beasty drummer

All Shall Perish
Bring Me The Horizon (before their ultimate sell-out album they just released)
Parkway Drive? (I'm not sure about this one)
The Agonist

Eh. Metal Archives isnt the emperor of metal, like Jessee Jackson is to black people. And I dont really think a band's image or band name really defines their genre.

Agree to disagree, I guess.

I get Nev's analogy perfectly. They are that kind of fake growling agression that Bring Me The Horizon has. Where it doesnt sound like they are necessarily mean at all. Where you would never directly fuck with the lead singer of Ensiferum. That nagga can have a mean manly scream.

Lol, nu metal is so bad every time I hear it I start crying and laughing at the same time.

Core sucks too, but not as bad. Only 2 core bands are good, and they are the Black Dahlia Murder and Suicide Silence.

Same, after listening to more BMTH especially, you just know if you started on Mr. Sykes that he would simply cower, he may be 6'2 but he's lanky and ridiculously skinny. lol.

ATR's Phill Labonte is still a guy I wouldn't want to fuck with, he seems nice though, and his natural voice is actually quite deep, so the screaming/growling works for him imo.

You guys will love this

I reckon some of you might have already heard them, but fucking hell, is there a band more scene, generic, douchey and simple?

I mean where do you begin? The ridiculous headbanging? the autotuned vocals? the 'crabcore' label? or how about the fact that every member of the band as the exact same haircut.

I also love their musical writing skills, starting the song with a breakdown, genius.

It's nothing to do with violence towards either band. It's about the way the -core bands seem like aggressive pricks who make things uncomfortable and needlessly threatening, whether they're actually capable of fighting or not.

And also, Metal Archives is not a single person choosing randomly how a band should be classified. I have read a lot of their stuff already (reviews, additionnal notes, bands line-up). They are very accurate most of the time and their band classifications are always fitting. Not like the ones from metalstorm :P

Lol so true haha.
ButI think that band name can be linked to his genre. For example:
-Dragonforce....''dragon'' ! Power metal
-Cannibal corpse... ''Cannibal'' ! Death metal: Cuz when you are talking about killing babies...brutal death metal seems to use those lyrical subjects.
-Burzum... --ยป J.J.R tolk...! Black metal lyrical themes.

In this way, I suggest that in some cases, band's name offer a little idea of the genre.

Band names are marketing. You pick the best name to reach your audience.
An acoustic act called Spermswamp wouldn't get far.
A pornogrind band with that name and you'd struck gold.

Somewhat, but not for Tolkien and Black Metal. Black metal may be the genre of music in which you will find most of the Tolkien-influenced bands. But I've seen Heavy, Power, Death, Prog, Folk Metal bands with names taken from Middle Earth.

If not, it's in their lyrical themes that you will find out about it.

6.) Follow The Blind
7.) A Twist In The Myth

I don't know why everyone says Nightfall is there best album, it's a great album with all good songs but it doesn't amount anywhere near the epicness to other stuff Blind Guardian has produced.

Actually, all good songs except for Nightfall.

Nightfall the song is one of the very few songs by Blind Guardian I find boring.

And Then There Was Silence is the best Power Metal song I've ever heard.

More like the best song ever i've heard in general.

Also, I have a new found love for Edguy.

1.) Rocket Ride
2.) Vain Glory Opera
3.) Hellfire Club
4.) The new titanus album thingie
5.) Mandrake

Are there other albums worth getting?

I don't think Nightfall is a cheesey album at all.,, well besides the spoken bits - they're a bit cheesey. But the actual songs I think are a very classy representation of the Tolkien universe. The tone is perfect.

Hey guys, what about R.A.M.P.? In think they're a pretty good band, metal-archives defines them as Thrash Metal, but I think there are other influences, maybe they're a bit Groove IMO, well they still excelent, excelent guitar riffs, brutal vocals, great drums, a well fitted bass, just excelent over all.

The field is lost
Everything is lost
The black one has fallen from the sky and the towers in ruins lie
The enemy is within, everywhere
And with him the light, soon they will be here
Go now, my lord, while there is time
There are places below

In this song they actually make Sauron talk... and he talks like he's some teenage kid writting his first poetry after watching Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.

I don't think they are cheesy all the time. But there really is something that isn't fitting. They make good music and all. But reading Tolkien, I just find that they are too much... too much of everything. Tolkien's fantasy books really aren't similar to what is to be found in other fantasy books.
I'm really not into all this
"The glorious knight of light went up the Mountain of Deep Sorrows to fight the dark beast of eternity at the top of the highest tower of the castle where the light shines the brightest!"

I wouldn't say that Black Metal fits Tolkien's Universe perfectly either... but I think that they at least fit a little with all the Mordor and orcs shits :P
And Black/Folk in my opinion fits Tolkien the best (in terms of metal)

But maybe I am wrong. But what I remember from my previous contacts with Blind Guardian is that I was kind of dissapointed. Especially by their joke albums. I can't remember the exact names... but I really didn't like these.

Well my understanding of The Simarilis (sp?) is that Sauron was only a little helper at that time. So his voice doesn't seem inappropriate to me.

Are you serious? Tom Bombadil is the most awesome caracter of Lord of the Rings.
And according to some guys who studied the whole Tolkien universe and it's deepest corners, Tom Bombadil couldn't be anything else than a kind of God. I don't remember clearly. But I know that in Middle Earth, before there was elves, humans, orcs, dwarves and all these races, there was a few God-like living things on Middle Earth. And according to all the intense guys who read too much about Tolkien, Bombadil couldn't be anything else than one of these.
That could also explain why trees listenned to him when he told them to release the Hobbits and also why he stayed unaffected when he putted the ring on his finger.

And Tom Bombadil isn't cheesy... :'(

Well... not the power metal kind of cheese at least!

On the contrary, if you see a band with the name like ''Middle Earth Force'' :P you'll problably associate this band to Power metal.
