I still can't believe how anybody who listens to metal can say anything bad about Meshuggah. I couldn't understand in any way how someone wouldn't like them, I find them great in almost every way.

Alright then, if you want me to talk about a band that isn't mainstream, here's a black metal band I found some time ago that I think deserves more attention. Tell me what you think, I know I liked them a lot.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-12-07 19:58:41

My dad thought I still liked Slipknot and Korn. He was asking where they were in my CD collection and I told him I sold them because I lost interest in them.

I'm lost for words.

Hmm. I'm actually going to check them out.

And Bahamut, I think Korn were respectable back in the 90s. That said, Nu metal is shit.

Last year, for Christmas, my parents got me a System of a Down shirt, thinking they were still one of my favorite bands.

i also got my wu-tang clan shirt, though. so that makes up for it

Go see Auschwitz. I dunno, that'd be pretty metal. Germany has some cool castles too.

I've never been farther east than Chicago though so what do I know?

Used to listen to Finntroll and Ensiferum a lot. Never knew what Finntroll was saying, but it was good.
But after I ran out of good Folk bands (you can only listen to so much Korpiklaani) I just fell back on Power.

I usually listen to some folk and melodic death.

Folk Metal - What i've heard is good stuff, bands like Tyr, Primordial, Moonsorrow, Agalloch, Equilibrium and Eluveitie are all just win to me. But like DrMajesto said: I too run out of bands a lot, it's hard to find new folk metal bands. Also, even though everyone in this club hates Korpiklaani I think they are a VERY fun band to listen to(However I would never waste money on one of there albums) CAN YOU GUYS RECOMMEND ME SOME GREAT FOLK METAL BANDS THAT ARE UNDERGROUND-ISH?

Melodic Death Metal - I used to listen to a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of melodic Death Metal back in the day, this was, initially, the only genre of metal with harsh vocals I listened to.(That's right, I didn't even listen to thrash metal then! :O) Bands like At The Gates, In Flames and Soilwork used to all make me jizz my pants. These days I scarcly listen to Melodic Death metal, and what I do it's usually always Arsis, Darkane and Insomnium. CAN YOU GUYS RECOMMEND ME SOME GREAT MELODIC DEATH METAL BANDS THAT ARE UNDERGROUND-ISH?

Power Metal - The first genre of metal I ever listened, the genre of metal I listen to the most in my life, and Progressive/Power Metal are my favorite genres. if anyone can list a single power metal band I haven't listened to blow jobs to them, if anyone here can list a progressive metal band I haven't listened to it would also be greatly apprciated.

SO YEAH GUYS.

Metal Archives lists them as Melodic Death Metal.

I've never listened to more than one or two songs by them so I wouldn't know if that was accurate.

good folk metal that hasn't been mentioned: asmegin, bathory's later stuff, lord weird slough feg (a little? kind of? they're good anyway), mael mordha (if you're down with the doom), thyrfing, vintersorg, ulver's first album, and windir. and dark forest.

So, here we go...

Copy+Paste

I just bought Katatonia's new record. I've been through the first few tracks a couple times and I think it sounds interresting. I've also read reviews of the album. Some are good and some other are not.

I would be interrested in getting more of their stuff. I've read that Brave Murder Day, was the best one to get. But I'd like to get opinions from the guys in the hell to help me make my choice.

Anyone?

It's okay. Alot of their earlier stuff is better. I'm more partial to their Early Depressive rock stuff, right after Akerfeldt left.

Awesome, I will look into these albums when the time comes.

But with Devin every album is always so different.

Haha, I gathered that from doing a little research on his solo career.

I expect to hear crap like this from Disney Channel, not Helloween. The only song I have a slight interest in is The Keeper Trilogy. The rest of them, shame on you Helloween. BTW, these opinions are coming from someone who actually ENJOYED Pink Bubbles and Chameleon so this is saying a lot.
I think I want to go cry.

I'm still crying at this. :'(

Just because they have an orchestra, doesn't mean they have to use it every second of every song to make it not-metal.

Elvenking
Ensiferum
Finntroll
The Lord Weird Slough Feg
Tyr

Yeah, I fail so much at times. D:

Blackpool? If ya say so. . .
London Eye gets boring once you get past the half way mark as you've been on it for a fair bit by that point.
I'd suggets the best Scare attraction in the country mysel, London Bridge Experience, or if you prefer going to the Tombs go there if you get a chance

Er. I've never found Katatonia to be incredibly good or anything. I enjoy their depressing rock, I like the album Discouraged Ones. I thought the Great Cold Distance was ok, but I guess that's not their latest record anymore. Katatonia are meh. I got their debut and I can remember thinking it was bad, and it put me off ever listening to Brave Murder Day, even though it had Mikael singing. Meh. I don't think I've ever had a thing for death/doom.

Garm doesn't play amazing shows in front of thousands of people. He is lucky to get a couple of hundred at his weirdo electro avant-garde version of Ulver that never really should've happened. He isn't the witty, sexy Swedish man with...... Oh shit, Garm sings better than Mikael. My logic is flawed.

The Drapery Falls is also mad boring, I hate it when people say it's there best song.

Orchid, Damnation and Still Life are by far the three best Opeth albums.

Still Life is really amazing and their best. The first two and their latest are great. Damnation is cool.
