That's like saying "Tankard is thrash? Their name sounds much more alcohol-ish". as if pirate metal were ever a genre.

It's about as real as hillbillycore or post indie.

That'd be Motorhead, an infinitely better/more metal band.
I enjoy Machine Head. They put on a great live show when i went and saw them.
Still need more thrash pl0x guys :3

For some reason I always call Motorhead Motormouth. I don't know why.....................................
............
Speaking of Swashbuckle, they're the best band of the new wave of american thrash right now. their albums are really fun and thrashy and boozy and all around hilarity with riffs to boot. not to mention that they're a power trio, which is really unheard of in thrash.
Here I am, bored with everything.

Destruction...?
Swashbuckle are pretty good, but I prefer Mantic Ritual, Thrash Or Die and Warpath.
But Swashbuckle take the cake for best new aged thrash metal band to see live.
Ok I forgot about Destruction but those are the only two, wait no Sodom too. Fuck those three.

I've posted this before but seriously:

Yeah but the black metal that is satanic seems to have the most emotion to it for me. Also, I think Gorgoroth is hilarious. Am I a bad person?
Enslaved
Unleashed
Ragnarok
Mirror Throne
Carpathein Forest
Dark Forest
Dark Fortress
Meh, thanks for the list man, I liked the bands, but Dark Fortress is probably the only one I would bother listening to.
And correct me if I'm wrong, Unleashed's song "underoath" kind of sounds like core. Amirite?
Why have I only listened to Metal Church just now? This band has been mentioned many times in the metal community yet I never even checked them out until now when I was looking at my "To listen to" list. It's a damn shame I overlooked them all this time since the one song I heard called Beyond the Black is awesome! Their debut album is definitely one to get sometime soon. Hopefully I'll see it when I go to London next week.

For all people looking into thrash metal look at this picture, mostly everything is gold. (Click on the picture again to zoom in larger, then scroll up and down)
Other bands not on pic(I think):
Bonded By Blood, Pro-Pain, Violator, Evile, Warbringer, Mantic Ritual, Gama Bomb, Warpath, Thrash or Die, Swashbuckle and Exorcist.
Then if you browse through this thread i'm sure you could find another five or six thrash metal bands.
I recently checked out Swashbuckle, and I love them. They don't take themselves seriously at all, which I love.

Just found this amazing little gem.
Has the now ex-vocalist of Scar Symmetry, using only his growls.
They sing about Christianity for anyone who might care, but this doesn't phase me for once cos they are THAT good.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Let's not start predicting how those years will handle metal until they're close. Hardly anything has been scheduled for a 2011 release. The most I know that's coming out in 2011 so far is DragonForce...I'm just saying, 2011 is such an ugly year though as opposed to 2012.
On second thought, after seeing what we're getting in 2010, 2011 may look rather empty. I mean, we're to get new albums by the following artists:
Accept
Angra
Anthrax
Blind Guardian
Burzum
Elvenking
Fear Factory
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Manowar
Motörhead
Rhapsody (yes, they're back!)
Symphony X
That just makes 2010 one hell of a year for heavy metal. Still, we should wait and see what 2011 has to offer before truly judging it.

I sure hope not. I already pity those who are stupid enough to believe the world's truly ending in 2012.

I'd much rather hear recommendations in this thread than elsewhere but I'll have a look through and see what I find. Another band I listened to last night was Agent Steel. I heard some good stuff from them.

Actually, they should stop making any songs about war at all.
I discovered this yesterdar, The Archaist, they're Progressive Death Metal in my opinion and giving some way to black, I think they sound pretty good. I love too see how metal is evolving in my country... They would be great live, I'm really interested in see them live...
And about Machine Head, Flynn has a terrible voice I can't deny, but in my opinion it fits well on the music they play, so I don't have reason to argue about his voice, the drums are pretty cool, the bass well... I just can have an opinion about the bass if I see them playing, the guitars are pretty cool, in my opinion talented riffs and some riffs I can call it epic, like in the music "Halo", that music is just sex for my ears, I love how harmonized he is... When Flynn sings: "You, know I won't pray for you..." and then pause and starts a riff, which in my opinion is just perfect, and they sing: "Halooo... Follooow... Shallooow... Swallooow..." and then they sing it again but after "Halooo..." Flynn sing like in the chorus "Over our demise!", "Following a God so blind!", "Shallow, in their sickening!" and "Swallow not, the shit they feed!". I just love it...

Sorry for the double post but I can't live seeing "I discovered this yesterdar", I mean "I discovered yesterday"... I am really tired...

In art today I found a slew of awesome extreme metal logos and I'm going to sketch them out, which got me to thinking, what are your guys' favorite band logos? I included Behemoth, Death, Atheist, Obituary, Opeth, Forest of Shadows, Necrophagist, and Deicide in my project, and my number one favorite is the Death logo. The details are sinister and I love the design.

Electric Wizard, Dystopia, Helloween, Spastic Ink, Demilich, Municipal Waste... Death of course.
They trashed a hotel room.
Pussies, Varg would have at least set someone on fire.

Agh, I forgot Municipal Waste! I'm going to have to fit it in there somewhere. A general rule of thumb when it comes to metal logos is that the harder to read, the more metal and underground. Just Google Xasthur's logo and Dying Fetus as well. It's crazy.

Not really.
Pretty much every Doom and Sludge band have easily readable logos and they're far more tr00 than your average Grindcore band.

haha no, I wish!
I saw Vader and they had a bunch of pumpkins with bands names carved into them on stage!
Oh yeah, I saw:
Obituary
Goatwhore
Krisiun
The Berserker
Warbringer on September 30th
and:
Vader
Decrepit Birth
Warbringer
The Amentia
Augury
Swashbuckle on November 5th.
I wanted to go to Heathenfest on the 3rd of this month but I didn't feel like going last minute, I heard the show sucked though so all is good!
Marduk, Nachtmystium, Mantic Ritual, Black Anvil and Merrimack all on friday! :D

I think they look rather spiffing :3
i have to go in a few, but i will say this: Death has such a badass logo, holy god. I got a shirt on saturday that's just their logo, all huge and in silver. I like their new logo a lot more (the one without all the little details like the cobwebs and blood drips and the grim reaper and such), but it's all cool.
I'll list my favorites when i return.

I'm going to get a Death shirt soon. It'll probably be the red logo, with details if I can get it, I like that one better. I wouldn't mind donning a Leprosy shirt though. On the back it says, "ROTTING WHILE THEY BREATHE, DEATH COMES SLOW." Great lyric, completes the epic shirt.
I bought an Individual Thought Patterns shirt that was tits but it was out of stock so I was refunded. And I've since been unable to afford one :(.
