Nothing is repetitive about that song at all.

What are you on?

Aww, don't say that, I'm listening to it right now, and I enjoy it thoroughly, even though it is lengthy. I don't care much for the whispering parts though. The instrumentation is top notch, and the acoustic guitars have that distinct dark folk sound going on. I do like Orchid better though.

Opeth really push the amount of times they repeat their riffs to the limit.
They do it on pretty much every song, but its all the more unbearable on Morningrise due to the length of those songs.

Essential black metal song:
Ambient sounds at beginning
Driving and swift high gain chord progression
Screaming, of course
Incredibly low sounding toms that shake speakers
Some sort of part where the guitar stops and it's screaming
More chords, different progression

The only opeth song that really does that a ton is The Grand Conjuration.

Besides that, their riffs change slightly every time/=.

They do it on pretty much every song, but its all the more unbearable on Morningrise due to the length of those songs.

The only song on Morning Rise I don't think was amazing is Advent.

Holy shit, if there's another discussion about Pantera on here I'm going to vomit.

Anyway, I just got Vader's album Necropolis in the mail today, immediately I ripped the music onto my computer. All the songs are great, except for "The Seal" and "Summoning the Futura". Those are just shit.

I don't know if there are anyone which like Shadows Fall but I am loving this new album... fuck yes they sound so fucking mature on this album, they're more like Melo-death and this change is making me say... fuck yes I love this band, they never made me say "this an excelent band" before, but this album fuckin' rule. Look at their myspace and listen to their new songs, just awesome.

Good thing we have Amazon and eBay. Otherwise, I would have had a really hard time getting half of the albums I own right now. Infact, if I was getting into all these bands before I even heard of the internet, I would have had to rely on luck to finding them in the shops.

Despite those sites, there are still some albums that are hard as fuck to get. :(

Most regular stores do lack a good collection of metal albums. Over here there's a metalzone chain store, which do have a decent collection, but sometimes it's a bit overpriced, and an independent one which has a collection which includes most less popular genres of rock, but it specializes in hardcore and other -core's, unfortunately. The guy who decides the prices doesn't know much about metal, though, so there's always a possibility to find something cheap. A friend of mine once found a new anathema (I think) LP for EU3 there.

But what I don't understand is that people prefer amazon or ebay above regular mailorders. Most of the time, they're cheaper, they have a more direct contact with labels (or are labels themselves) and bands and there are plenty that are run by people who do it only out of dedication, obviously mostly the smaller ones.
There is a possibility that their packages aren't safe for the cd's/lp's so cases might break, so you should ask around before trying a new one.

Unrelated, I love The Devils Blood. They're not metal, but some sort of psychedelic doomrock (or something) with a satanic theme, and it's bloody addictive. Fenriz from Darkthrone, Watain and Satyricon are fans, so I think people here might be interested.

Thanks for finding a different black metal band. I'm trying to listen to more black metal, and I will definitely give these guys a listen. They seem pretty epic. Even the name is ancient and kvlt.

To be very honest, I actually find a lot of Devin's stuff kinda hard to be interested in for the duration of a full hour (give or take).

The only album I enjoy listening to from start to finish without it feeling like a chore is Ziltoid.
