They played Of Sins and Shadows which made me happy enough :D.
The choral bit of that song is so good :).

Besides that though I wasn't all that away of much of their set. I remember they said they were playing Paradise Lost, but my memory of their set is almost non-existant :(.

My high schoolers leavers book made that mistake too.
They asked us all for a little statement to go next to our pictures. So I put 'I Riff, Therefore I Am'.
They misprinted it as 'I Rift, Therefoe I Am'.

I never knew its meaning though... in my head I always imagined it as meaning 'drifting... on a raft'.

I meant to say just as metal, mistake on my part.

Also, you're forgetting Manowar...

Manowar suck so much cock with the exception of a few songs I try not to think of them at all.

Yeah, pretty much.

Everything pisses me off these days, and the fact Sense-Officer bashed on SA pissed me off tremendously considering they are one of my favorite bands and one of my first metal bands.

(The SX thing wasn't really pissing me off, I was just expressing my opinion)

As for SX in show, I really didn't like the set list they played when I saw them in November. :(

They played all ten songs off Paradise Lost, Inferno, King Of Terrors, Church Of The Machine and Of Sins And Shadows.

That's it, only 14 songs. And they were the only band playing, they had no excuse for not playing more. :(

Also Pinnella looked bored out of his skull and Romeo only played four solos, and that also really bummed me out.

Probably the fact there was only 200 or so people there explained it, but even so!

But it was fun. :3

Even though Romeo only played 4 solos, even tohugh Pinnella looked bored out of his skull the whole show, even though Romeo absolutely BUTCHERED Inferno and even though they only played four songs not on Paradise Lost, I had fun.

I mean, there was no barrier and I was right in front of the stage in the center.

There were only two hundred or so people there because it was a Wednesday and there was a huge snow storm going on.

I mean like when they played Revelation:

Lost In The Night,
Wondering Alone
Try as we might to escape the fight
It never lets us ago
I know, and you know, we've got to find a way, a way, a way to rise above it all!

The edited chorus was just so awesome.

Also when they played Paradise Lost, Allen was crawling on the floor with his mic for that one part of the song while every person in the crowd had a lighter in the air. :)

Also, Jason on the drums was excelent the entire show.

Also, Lepond played the most kick ass Bass Solo i've ever seen at a show.

Also, Russel told us that his wife gave birth that morning!

SO basically: Russel, Lepond and Jason were awesome while Romeo, Pinnella and the set list were disappointing.

Very bitter-sweet show.

This post is 100% argument free. :) Also, recently I feel I should look into more industrial metal. I remember Imperium telling me ages ago to look into Ministry but any other suggestions?

I've listened to my first Judas Priest songs today (okay, so I've heard Breaking the Law before, but I've never listened to it at home by my own volition).

They're actually pretty good. Only listened to Breaking the Law and Painkiller so far though, but they've been in heavy circulation on my Spotify playlist.

Get Vaders. That Pop singer that Nergals banging really had an effect on him, he's writing pretty generic music.

Pretty good, I've already pre-ordered their new album so I'm looking forward to it. September is looking good for metal where we have new Ensiferum, Megadeth, Sonata Arctica and a few others. Although not metal but another album I'm looking forward to next month is Muse's new album.

Definitely those but I recommend him to listen to the whole of Stained Class and Painkiller. I assume he only heard the song Painkiller and not the album itself.

Of course... if you forget about Ambient, Atmospheric, a lot of Prog, Stoner, Hair (which really isn't metal) and almost all the power metal bands out there...

I can't name a single band under all those genres(Except poser hair metal) that are less heavy than sonata arctica.

What's heavy? Screams? Growls? Distortion Guitar?

I don't think heavyness can be mesured only by a few things like this...

While Unia and Reckoning Night(And there upcoming album, apparently) are all relatively heavy they have a ton of stuff not heavy at all:

Letter To Dana
Shy
Shamandalie
Broken
Draw Me
The Misery

To name a few.

I could classify a lot of bands as "not heavy" by only naming their softest stuff...

Agalloch : The Misshappen Steed
Dream Theater : Wait For Sleep
Ulver : All Kveldssanger tracks
Nightrage : Solus

I could name a lot of other titles like these, still all these bands made "heavy" stuff.

I do understand why you said Sonata Arctica was not heavy and how you judged of this.
But really... how can we define heavyness in music?
I'd like to thoughts about this by all the MH. Thanks guys :P
