Yes, black metal screaming may be hard, but to tell you the truth, it's easy as balls. I am practicing singing (actual singing) and it's fukken hard. All you have to do with screaming is belt out like you're an orc. To sing requires control, lung power, and proper technique so you don't shred your vocal cords.

they require two different practices, you cannot compare them...Black metal style screaming and Death metal style screaming are hard, because if you fuck up you can destroy your voice.

Singing is hard because it is hard to change the pitch of your voice, however it doesnt take as long to learn as say becoming an expert drummer/guitarist/basist.

I don't know what you're talking about. Screaming/growling is second nature for me. And it required absolutely no practice. Actual singing is hard as hell, or at least singing well. Having pitch is easy, but having the lung power behind it is hard.

your one of few that say that, most people say that they have a hard time dealing with the scratchyness of grinding the vocal chords together or some other excuse...for me the singing and the screaming are about the same toughness.

ya but the only one I really hate is pantera...and its also the most famous of all his bands (thanks to dimebag...the only reason I can even TALK about pantera)

What I mean is it became more difficult for him to sing normally after becoming addicted to heroin.

still, it doesnt mean that he sang/screamed to fuck up his voice, therefore its not relevent to what I was saying

What's to hate about them anyways?

everything...minus dimebag's guitarwork and Vinnie's drum beats.

Screaming does hurt your voice, but ElGhoulio was saying it's harder to actually sing than scream. If actual singing was easier, Anselmo would have been able to sing on Pantera's later releases after his heroin addiction.

sometimes its easier to sing...Anselmo was singing in a really easy type of singing...I can almost perfectly immitate his voice...I cannot however immitate good singers like King Diamond, Freddy Mercury (call me gay), or even say Eddie Vedder.

on a side note :D

Freddie Mercury was a great singer, his sexual orientation means nothing to me.

he is an amazing singer :D

But there are much worse singers than Anselmo.

this is also true, I mean, hes not SO bad, there is just something about his voice :|

Seen it. But I guess it's fitting because King Diamond is in Guitar Hero Metallica.

ya I just think its funny...and I also mentioned King Diamond earlier...King Diamond's appearance is for the Mercyful Fate song "Evil" in GH:Metallica

None of those singers are really that great. An example of a good singer would be Sir Russell Allen, or Eric Adams, or Tim Ripper Owens, or Piet Sielck, Vintersorg, or Garm/Trickster G./God Head/whatever pseudonym he goes by nowadays. And of the "big 4" of grunge Layne Staley was the best singer.

Cannibal Corpse lyrics are awesome.

She was so beautiful
I had to kill her

Strangulation caused her death
Just like all the others
Raped before and after death
Stripped, naked, tortured

They're all dead, they're all dead
They're all dead, by strangulation

I come alive in the darkness
Left murdered and nameless
Dead unburied and rotten
Half eaten by insects

It felt so good to kill

I took their lives away
7 dead, lying rotten
Unburied victims
their naked bodies putrefy

I think they really are wannabe dark and mysterious piece of crap...

I stand corrected. Necrophagist's lyrics are still awful, especially on Onset of Putrefaction.

Dismembering - to chop her body I begin
Bastard - bastard inside
Disfiguring - abdominal wall is opening
Offal - come to sight

Malintention, to chop the foetus I intent, hateful am I
Vile malodours, rancid odours I perceive
I'm getting high

Hate and repulsion is that
Which strenghtens my intent
Fetal incising causes premature decease
Loathing am I to commit
Infanticide in unborn state
To tear out the foetus, my aggressions do increase

Mutilate the stillborn
Mutilate the stillborn
Mutilate the stillborn
Mutilate the stillborn

Dismanteling - excoriate the dead unborn
Vile waste - vile waste inside is
Festering - prenatal fluids I adore
Offal - come to sight

Mutilation, the stillborn body chopped in half
Hateful am I
Disemboweling,
The torso drained of tepid bowels
I'm getting high

SENTENCE FRAGMENTS ARE TOTALLY METAL
