also, The Sword.

The Sword just make me feel so disappointed, I really had faith in this place and its recommendations; and of course I still do, but The Sword totally shook that.

solution: your opinions are wrong

i think the deal here is that you just had a different idea for what they sounded like. it seems we always describe them as super stonery, but they really aren't. also didn't you only listen to Freya, or am I just imagining things?

Being less stonery wouldn't bother me at all, I'm not all that fond of Stoner.

You aren't.

Eh, I sometimes check out random recommendations, so I'll see how I go with Portal.

I haven't seen the film just yet and there's a good chance I won't even see it until the DVD comes out. My dad has this intention to wait a month or two until after its release so there wouldn't be as many people watching it in the cinemas and he often leaves it too late by doing that. Soon, I'll see about watching more films at the cinemas with my friends.

I've been listening to it for months, maybe even years now. It's most of the reason Trans-Siberian Orchestra are in my top artists but shit if it isn't sounding extra amazing right now. 22 tracks, fucking Flight of the Bumblebee on guitar, awesome melodramatic vocals Meatloaf can fuck himself THIS is rock opera. Savatage too while I'm at it. I love Hall of the Mountain King. What of theirs should I check out next?

FUCK YEAH, MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY. Now get Maniacal Renderings by Jon Oliva's Pain. It's by the same songwriter (Jon Oliva) and features a blend between olskool Sava and new school TSO

Anyone knows about the band Forefather?

Seems like a good band to me.

thoughts?

Can I join this club? (10 bands below) I tried to join this club sometime last year, but was denied because the music I listened to wasn't metal enough. I'm thinking this list will make it though.

Metallica
Scar Symmetry
Opeth
Necrophagist
The Absence
Soilwork
Becoming The Archetype
Dark Tranquillity
Arsis
The Faceless
Children of Bodom

This isn't all of them, just the ones I could think of right now.

Cool, thanks.

So I'm going to see Opeth and Enslaved on May 15th. Only $25, and Opeth should have a long set, so it'll be awesome. Also, what do people think of Enslaved. I listened to their first album (it was the only one I could find) and to me it sounded kinda dull.

I was in HMV today and stumbled across an Opeth compilation album called "The Candlelight Years", which consisted of their first three albums. This was good for me since I've yet to get their first three albums, but I decided to leave it be for the time being since I was after other stuff today. My main concerns about the compilation box set are the poor quality of the package and the fact that the booklet inside is Japanese! However, as long as I get the albums, I shouldn't complain, but still...

So I ask this: Is it worth getting that compilation box set or am I better off getting the albums separately?

Personally I'd get the albums seperately so I had the proper CDs/artwork/booklets etc.

I had this one Alchemist CD I listened to every now and then... they had some neat ideas I guess.

Damn it Nev, now I had to go and play goddamn Reek of Putrefaction! Those quick power chords, the churning, grinding riffs and cobwebby leads. It's goddamn awesome is what it is.

Do you have Necroticism as well? I think that's their absolute best. Tragically under-recognized album.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-03-12 21:21:04

I should have written that I listened to Reek of Putrefaction, the song off of Symphonies of Sickness and not the titular album. I don't like their first CD all that much, heh.

I came back from seeing Watchmen. I'm a huge fan of the graphic novel (I've read it a few times, along with Sandman, one of my favorite comics) and I have to say it's pretty good. A bunch of people walked out because it was so long, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Here I am, bored with everything.
