How do you guys feel about the new Cannibal record that just came out- "Evisceration Plague"?
I actually thought it was pretty good, just not as many memorable riffs as past releases.
RIPPING CORPSE!!!! ATTAAAACK!!!!

Since they've been brought up finally, Portal is fucking amazing. You all have to check them out.

I don't really like it.

Indeed :)
Hammer Smashed Face :)
So Belphegor is said to be putting out some new material in autumn sometime. Can't wait.

Manowar - Kings of Metal
Sweet! Out of all the Manowar albums I've listened to so far, that one's my favourite.
Portal - Seepia
The latter is very good Experimental Black/Death :).
You all are discussing about this Portal right now, so maybe I should check them out later. After all, I do like the band name since I enjoy the Portal video game. I know it's a silly reason to check out a band, but whatever.

By discussing you mean Bruce and I recommending them and Duff saying he should check them out.
Thats like three sentences :P.
I doubt it'd be your thing though, its very, very cacophonous and as far as I know you're not big on Noisey and Avant-Gardey stuff.
Though I may be wrong.

Most of the songs are too slow, and they all have the same structure and vocal line. (Bar some)
On the other end of the spectrum, Priests of Sodom is fucking sweet, especially the vocals, and Evisceration Plague is probably the catchiest Death Metal song ever.
Scalding Hail is another nice one, if a little too samey to everything else they've released in the past decade. But hey, it's short.
My big gripe is Skewered From Ear to Eye. After ending Kill with Infinate Misery, this song felt kind of underwhelming.
And they seem to have given up on the overly violent cover art.
Helloween-Rise and Fall

Yeah, that's my first concern. I haven't taken a listen to it yet though.

Do you guys really see me as the guy who's saying he'll "check out" the bands?
that's pretty funny.
what does these guys play? Like which genre and stuff like that.
Does anyone happen to know any good Asian death/black metal bands? If so, could you recommend several to me? I'd really appreciate it. :3

I remember someone telling me I was stupid for classifing Cannibal Corpse as Brutal Death, and that I was probably the only one saying this
And that I was wrong when saying Cryptopsy was Brutal Death. And that they were just Technical Death
I'm not saying that these sources are a 100% right... but that we, the Metal Hell are not the only reference in terms of Metal music.
Elitism in music is just annoying.
Also, I'm interrested in Doom Metal and I was wondering wich sub-genres would be the most interresting to check out first.
I'd go for Epic Doom or Death Doom (wikipedia classifications)
but I'm still willing to ear your opinions on the subject.
Gojira was intensely amazing! It was the first gig I've been to where theres no barrier between the stage and the crowd and I was right at the front. We managed to pull Joe and the drummer in and give them a bit of a fondle :).
And I got Joe's pick :) (plus tshirt, in pic).
The man has fucking enormous forearms. If you combined them with Petrucci's biceps you'd have the perfect arm for killing people... with your arms.

No. Its just you said you'd check them out.

Experimental Black/Tech Death.
I said that and you said 'Ooh Black/Death my favourite... yum, yum, yum... I'll check these out.'

Sigh as Mr Atus said.
And Gonin-Ish (Prog Death)
Gallhammer?

We're not. But this is like a temple, and we may not be right but you abide by the rules of the place and the canon the temple preaches.
And that tends to be based on the Metal-Archives.
Other Metal temples may say different but fuck them, they're inferior and we'll crusade against them... like all good cults good :).
Elitism in music is just annoying.
Its better than having -Core :P.
Don't start an argument, we've been through it all already. Take it with a pinch of salt, please.

I'm not overly fond of either of those two. I prefer Trad, Drone and Sludge. But thats me :).
Here I am, bored with everything.
At 3/10/09 08:24 PM, Idiosyncratic wrote: I never realized how creepy Gojira's shirt was.
There were three. One with the artwork for The Way of All Flesh, a grey one with just Gojira in the middle which I actually wanted (cause it just looked ace in a simple way) and the UK tour one which is the one pictured (and got because I like tour shirts as they feel more personal, and also because the artwork was just weird and kind of unique :)).
I'm actually kind of regretting not getting the grey one, might try and order it in the future :).

Lmfao I had never looked at Petrucci's biceps, so I went on google images and they're huge!

I haven't and probably won't until its on Sky or something but I've heard good things from people who tend to be pretty harsh critics.

All sins are unforgivable. the important thing is that you repent and admit you did wrong. God is full of forgiveness for everyone. Your choice to accept it or not. It is really not hard to get into heaven. People make it seem that way. "
dude im totally in this. There is a band i want everyone to check out, their called Lazarus A.D. They are a local band that just put out their first cd and im trying to get other people to listen to them. If you want to check them out the are touring with Amon Amarth soon, so if you are there check out Lazarus A.D.
Here's a pic of them

look man, we don't have an open door policy here. List ten legitimate metal bands you listen to and one of our group leaders will let you in.
I remember this discussion we had about Guitar Hero and metal bands in their setlist. And there really is a lot of metal stuff in there...
Pantera
Black Sabbath
Motorhead
Lamb Of God
Megadeth
Alice Cooper (metal?)
Iron Maiden
Voivod
Ozzy
Black Label Society (metal?)
Dio
Slayer
Metallica
In Flames
Dream Theater
that's a few bands...

also, The Sword.
Goddamn man. Beethoven's Last Night by Trans-Siberian Orchestra you guys. It's not new to me at all. I've been listening to it for months, maybe even years now. It's most of the reason Trans-Siberian Orchestra are in my top artists but shit if it isn't sounding extra amazing right now. 22 tracks, fucking Flight of the Bumblebee on guitar, awesome melodramatic vocals Meatloaf can fuck himself THIS is rock opera. Savatage too while I'm at it. I love Hall of the Mountain King. What of theirs should I check out next?
Also, Doom fans need to check out Solitude Aeturnus if you haven't already. Been listening to Into the Depths of Sorrow and it at times it's like Candlemass style epic doom but from time to time picks up and gets pretty fast and thrashy. Catchy shit.
?

solution: your opinions are wrong
i think the deal here is that you just had a different idea for what they sounded like. it seems we always describe them as super stonery, but they really aren't. also didn't you only listen to Freya, or am I just imagining things?
