No one can be as black as Michael Jackson. He's probably the blackest of them all.

(they aren't black metal).

Partly they are. Have you heard anything from "Fate of Norns"? That's pure black right there.

If words were wisdom, I'd be talking even more.

Please tell me where, I'd REALLY like to know :)

Response to Metal Hell 2005-06-06 17:49:56

Yeah, Amon Amarth aren't as black as, say, Darkthrone. But they do have traces of black. Then again, most modern stuff isn't tr00 or kvlt, so yeah. I try to do something different with my music, so while mine might be really kvlt, at least it's different. Yeah, now that I think about it, Amon Amarth aren't really black, but they are super death. Whatever, I just killed my brain.

as I see it, black metal died when Mayhem and Burzum disappeared, Darkthrone followed soon after and Immortal lost its way, black metal these days doesn't exist, it's all show and no true feeling....

You know, close minded people like you annoy me. It continued to flourish, it just wasn't olskool anymore. It just sounded different. And by the way, Immortal didn't lose their way, they just did something different. After Blizzard Beasts, they decided that they had to try something new if their material would be fresh and new. And ever heard Chimera by Mayhem, or Sheol by Nagflar, or Destroyer by Gorgoroth? 100% black ruckus. And Marduk and Dark Funeral kept at it, along with a few others. Think before u talk.

dude, I didn't come here to get criticized so quickly, so if I've offended you then I'm sorry, geez.. anyway yeah, I've heard all those albums, but they just don't express the hatred that I feel with stuff like Mayhem's "Deathcrush", or Immortal's "Sons of Northern Darkness".. and if you haven't noticed, black metal is just talk now, no action like when Euronymous and Dead were alive..

One thing, SOND was made in 2002, just to let you know. And Deathcrush is a joke. I own it (maniac was singing on deathcrush, btw) and I have "Tribute to the black Emperors" which is a tribute to euro and dead. I'm just saying, your logic fails. I'm not chastising you, you haven't offended me. And the reason it's all talk is because... When you burn churches, you don't accomplish much except for an arson sentance. And all the cool shit didn't happen until dead was, well, dead. And Euro was killed in1993, right before De Mysteriis was released. Sorry for getting mad, but it seems you don't know what you're talking about.

maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.. perhaps cuz I'm not as experienced in it as you seem to be, but I just don't feel like black metal had to change it's style to keep up with the other genres, death and thrash survived with no change, why did black have to go and give up its ideals? and sure, burning churches and stuff like Euronymous' brain cooking only gets you a sentence and a sick rep, but don't you feel like the music back then really expressed what they wanted? instead of just focusing on harder riffs I felt like the OLD Mayhem was better than it is now... oh, and yes I know who sang in Deathcrush, but have you heard "Live in Leipzig"? mostly the same songs and with Dead singing.

Response to Metal Hell 2005-06-07 13:22:50

well i am still a noob when it comes to metal
i loved rap until like september when i heard "goodies" that was it
rap sucks now to me

Now that's a better way of putting it. Instead of making irritating blanket statements, you explain your argument. :) I just say if you do the same thing for ever and ever, it will get boring after a while because nobody did anything new. And btw, death and thrash have changed a lot.

hmm... could you explain there? cuz let's say.. Cannibal Corpse.. I don't think their style (death) has changed, and Slayer (I dunno how you think of them, but I see them as thrash) still have the punch and speed they did in the old days. Maybe you could enlighten me with some examples dude.. I feel kinda ignorant.. but oh well, it's never too late to learn eh?

Slayer DID change in my opinion, and and another example is carcass. Their sound went so much softer than it was in the beginning. And CC did change. They used to make stuff with a bit sloppier production, but now it's a lot more clear and crisp. And Morbid Angel changed.

However, I don't listen to death or thrash that much, so excuse me.

Depends what you want.
For pure violent music you can't go wrong with Napalm Death, Terrorizor, (GoreBastard!) and any other Grindcore band out there.
If you wan't brutal death metal go for Cannibal Corpse, Deeds of Flesh, Suffocation, Dying Fetus....
And for pure awesomeness, Anthrax, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth, Death, MotorHead, Dark Angel... shit the list goes on forever!

And if you want some awesome homegrown black metal, check out the shit I submitted to the AP, Manmetal. I must warn, my music does have a rather bad production, so it will take some time to get used to, but I am pure fucking black metal!!!!!! And check out some of my higher rated experimental stuff, too.

If you want total brutality, check a tune out that I just made called Brutal Fucking Torture
It is nice and heavy!

Hahahaha!!!

But if you are into Thrash I highly reccomend:
Overkill, Destruction, Kreator, Death Angel, Megadeth, and Slayer, as with others I cannot think of right this moment.

And there is always some of my personal favorites:
Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Dream Theater, In Flames, Soilwork, and many, many other bands.

And then there is Power Metal:
Blind Guardian, Iced Earth(Power/Thrash), DRagonForce, Children Of Bodom(Power/Speed), Primal Fear(Power/Speed), Helloween(Of Course), Hammerfall, Stratovaruis, Masterplan, and Mystic Prophecy (Power/Speed/Thrash)

not forgetting Rhapsody, Power Quest, Dream Evil, Edguy, Evergrey, Falconer, Kamelot, Lost Horizon, Sonata Arctica, and Symphony X

some of those could be classed differently but power is close enough for most of them :D

Well, their early stuff (1992-1997) is romantic black metal. Their later stuff is heavy goth metal. End of story.

Also, manmetal, check out Emperor, Darkthrone (Under A Funeral Moon), Dissection (preferably Storm of the Light's Bane), Mayhem (Preferably Wolf's Lair Abyss, Chimera, or De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas), Borknagar, or Gorgoroth for black metal.

They are not bad, but they are sometimes too hardcorish to me. I love the Gypsy influences, though.

BTW, guys, if anyone of you wants to hear the guy who's currently working with The_Ghoul, check out my blackmetal stuff, in my sig. You can download my demo there. Production is a little dodgy, but everything can be heard :)

well, you don't have to go directly to black metal, you can listen to death metal like Cannibal Corpse.. nothing to do with religion...

and I won't say fuck you for what u like, however those u mentioned are nu-metal, and I think some guys 'round here would agree with me when I say that they aren't REAL metal
