Megadeth is alright, Marty Friedman is the only good thing about them, and Rust in Peace is their only good album.

Friedman was a genius in Megadeth, but I think that Mustaine was close to his league. Rust in Peace is their best, but I also enjoy Countdown to Extinction and every album before R.I.P. Even The System Has Failed has it's great moments(Kick the Chair, Blackmail the Universe, Back in the Day).

Ghoul, War by Burzum is NOT a cover from Bathory. Both have songs called "War" but they are different.

Borknagar isn't death metal. Their earlier stuff is a sub set of Black metal called Viking Metal, and their later stuff is Avante Garde.

As I've found out lately, Soufly sucks. I only thought it was good because I heard about five of their songs which were pretty good. Apparently the rest of their stuff sucks beyond what words can relate. I guess that suits Max a lot.

Soulfly does suck, indeed. I really tried to get into them but it seems impossible. It's so sad when you compare Sepultura's "Beneath the Remains" and "Arise" to any Soulfly album...I don't know what drugs Max is taking.

Apparently, there is one band with a slightly similar style to Soulfly which doesn't suck: Ektomorf. They are from Hungary and use Gypsy influences in their music. Not too bad. Oh, and they have guitar solos.

It's also sad that Sepultura ended up sounding like Soulfly from about 1994 or 1995 on. It was like a heavier version of Soulfly. The only good songs by Soulfly, in my opinion, are Tree of Pain and Eye For An Eye. The rest are shitty nu metal. I quit listening to anything more mainstream than Cradle Of Filth a while back, so I might be a bit skewed on my thinking.

Max Cavalera wasn't taking drugs, he was just trying to get in the spotlight. He's been around a while, and Soulfly was basically a sad attempt to ride the nu metal bandwagon (get it, BAND wagon?) But yes, it is sad how Sepultura changed from death to thrash and then to nu metal and how Max Cavalera changed from a respectable Death metal musician to a nu metal hack. :(

I agree with everything you guys said...it's just so sad. My favourite Sepultura album is "Arise". It's just fucking lethal.

I do love their old death/thrash as well(Bestial Devastation/Morbid Visions), it's just a lot of great fun. Max's accent in these is damn funny :)

Anyways, is there anyone here who likes Entombed or Amorphis? I've heard only one good song by each, the rest of their stuff, in my opinion, sucks balls. I just can't understand how the hell they could make songs as awesome songs as "Night of the Vampire" and "Black Winter Day" and still suck.

Also, Amon Amarth are beyond words. It's the first Black Metal band I've heard that is actualy really good. They don't go over the top with the drumming, the recording is clean, the vocals are not screamish. In other words, they are what all Black should sound like.

I like Amon Amarth, too, but there are black metal bands that have clean production and non-screamish vocals. Latter day Immortal features vocals that are deeper and more scratchier, and Borknagar is in a different class of themselves. Dissection features more ambient vocals, and Emperor features some of the best vocals I have ever heard on "Prometheus: discipline of fire and demise" but I'd have to say Borknagar's are consistently the best. And Arcturus and Tartaros are the best trip out bands, with all their keyboards and clean vocals and trippy melodies. :)

And don't get me started on ozzy. >:(
