That and Vain Glory Opera.
But I doubt I'll ever get them. There are far more important Power Metals whos albums I don't have.
Funny, I've still yet to get power metal albums I should own such as Rhapsody's Dawn of Victory, HammerFall's Renegade, Sonata Arctica's Winterhearts Guild and more. Oh well, at least I have all the Blind Guardian and Helloween studio albums.

It sucks that they don't plan on releasing a new album till late 2010 and don't plan on going on tour till mid 2011.
It is a shame, but we need to give them enough time to get another album done. I feel 4 years is enough time for them to make another album. Infact, we should be getting two albums from them next year depending what's happening with their orchestral project.
Iron Savior, and Grave Digger,Amazing bands, i'm happy someone here knows who they are other than me and maybe Rokuro.
Did you overlook one of my posts from the other day? I said I had a look at Iron Savior and was impressed at their music. Also, I've known Grave Digger for a while now, but I need to get more of their albums. All I have right now is Excalibur.

You should play the sax in a band.
Seriously.
I can just imagine a progressive or stoner metal band with a sax player in it.
Also I doubt you guys could even play power metal, so stop the all high and mighty act Duff, you're still a dumbass.
Alice copper?
MORE LIKE ALICE POOPER.

Pretty impressive line-up, however the only way i´m going to any festival is if all the bands are really good, and there was some mediocre stuff and some bands i´ve not even heard of.

I play alto.
I learned in school and took a few private lessons. But I didn't had any money to by myself one.
So I have not played saxophone for something like 3 years... that's really sad cause I really like that instrument. Now that I have some money in my bank account, I could consider buying myself a saxophone or a good amp for my microphone.

In fact, black metal musicians started to use makeup when former vocalist of Mayhem, "Dead" started to use any kind of stuff (including makeup) to paint his own body to look like a corpse. The whole purpose of the corpse paint in black metal, back in these days was to look like a rotting body, or it was the case at least for "Dead".

Aaahhh.
Its fucking easy >:(!
So I just got:
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. 1
Atheist - Piece of Time
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
i fucking love atheist, and Helloween are pretty good too. I want more power and more tech/prog death, any recommendations? Bands already on my to-get list;
More Helloween
Gamma Ray
More Blind Guardian (I only have Follow the Blind)
Atheist's final album
Death
Cynic
Any album recommendations for these bands? And any other artists that I should add to the list?
in a somewhat related story, i'm also getting more into the first heavy metal bands, like judas priest, maiden, and dio.

Sick. I play tenor mostly, but I've wanted to play alto again because there's a lot of good avant-garde alto saxophonists (Zorn, James Chance). I've been playing for about a year and a half, and i took lessons for about a year. Recently I've had too much time to take lessons, but since I've been playing clarinet for six and a half years, I can teach myself sax pretty well.

It's always been a fantasy of mine to play sax in a metal band. The sax works really well with the sound, in my opinion; Sigh and Solefald have both used sax in songs that are also really good. All the different genres I've thought of playing sax with:
tech death
avant-garde black
avant-garde tech death
avant-garde black/doom
avant-garde progressive sludge
...
you know what? just technical/progressive/avant-garde anything.
At 2/22/09 01:36 PM, D3NTATUS wrote: More Blind Guardian (I only have Follow the Blind)
Nightfall in Middle-Earth is essential :D.
Death
The Sound of Perseverance is my favourite, its the more Proggier of their albums.
Cynic
Focus.

Psycroptic - The Scepter of the Ancients
Decapitated
Sleep Terror
you know what? just technical/progressive/avant-garde anything.
I wanna be in an Avant-Garde/Tech/Prog band too :(.
At 2/22/09 01:27 PM, Nev wrote: Its fucking easy >:(!
Avant-garde and Technical are the only genres harder than power.

A night a the Opera.
A lot better than Nightfall.
On another note
I bought Defiant Imagination by Quo Vadis
and the newest Darkane album, Demonic Art

uh death metal

Depends on the death metal band really.
Some Death metal bands are incredibly simple while others are amazingly complex.

I think that goes for just about every genre, power metal included.

No!
You know nothing.
Power Metal in general is easy. Its basic rhythms you can pick up without thinking.
Its one of the easiest genres of Metal. There are exceptions, yes, like Angra and Symphony X, they've more complex than most Metal bands. But in general, its easy as fuck.

Plus it's really simple, structurally. It usually follows an AABA format or some other such structure, and it's in a major key. On top of that, chord changes come relatively slow.
