Clearly you don't go to this school.
Posted that before, but it saves time describing it.

I kind of got the impression that Ryans band was maybe anti religious or offensive, and not power-fail.

I was playing fucking Enter Sandman.

Hardly Anti Religious or Offensive.

I would have played one of my own songs, but it had to be from the 60's-90's.

And your judging that I'm not doing so?
Yes, you did made a judgemental post.
What I was asking is which of these bands is nice to see live. Cause I know which of these bands I like. And I was asking if they are worth it or not.
Have you ever been to a show of a band that you really like on their Studio recording, but that sucks bad live?
That's what I'm trying to avoid.

Enter Sandman.

And before that, Frantic.
And before that, Motorbreath.
And before that, Call of Ktulu.

In order:
1. Released too recently.
2. Drumming too fucked up.
3. Too long.

Yeah, our main problem is that restrictions, both official and down to ourselves, kind of got in the way.

The problem really wouldn't be that Metal isn't cool as you said :P

I've played a song by Megadeth in highscool myself. And some guys from my school playe stuff by both Metallica and Megadeth.

The problem would really be the lack of practice as a band... cause when I auditionned to play She Wolf at a show at my high school, our drummer had never played with us before the auditions... and he messed us up real bad.

Iron Maiden mostly, but with some Metallica and Disturbed thrown in occasionally.

Yeah. We had to stop and start again like 3 times because we fucked up badly.

How it went down;
Me: *plays intro riff. Waits for cue to start the main riff*
Brien: *keeps doing intro drum line*
Me: *looks at him as to say "What the fuck man?*

Me: "Sleep with one eye open! (forgets lyrics) Holding your nah nah nah!"

Me: "I can't do the clean part, though."
Brien: "Just start into the chorus."
*plays until bridge*
Me: *turns volume down on guitar* Now I lay thee down to...
Brien: *is still doing verse drums*

This band is so predictable, I have been listening quite a lot to them.

In every song they have 3+ breakdowns and always have the same distorted pig squealing sound.

Nightwish are OK live but they aren't worth seeing unless they are playing with someone you want to see, they aren't bad live just average.

Duff, even though she isn't right about why Tarja's solo career isn't metal she is still right about the fact she isn't metal.

And artists you play with don't affect your genre.

Michael Kiske has been struggling with his indie rock solo career or some stupid shit for years, he we is in Avantasia and Ayreon each for an album I think.

Doesn't make his solo career any more metal.

In fact, I was not talking about the musicians themselves, but the instruments they are playing. Cause she said there was not guitars... not keyboards... no drums and no bass in her music...
that was just the proof needed to show her she was wrong.

That would be just like saying Nightwish isn't metal and never was. Listen to the song that I posted previously, listen to the whole thing and tell me it's not sounding like Nightwish.

So if your gonna say Tarja didn't write anything that was Metal during her solo career it would be just like saying Nightwish is not metal.

STILL NOT METAL.

I doubt it... even if she's playing mainly for money... she was popular enough to leave the band by herself to start her own project. But she was kicked out.

She would totally write music she hates.

Maybe

So if your gonna say Tarja didn't write anything that was Metal during her solo career it would be just like saying Nightwish is not metal.
She didn't write a single song when she was in Nightwish.

But her solo project sounds kind of like Nightwish.
There is a lot of similar elements in her music. The songs structure is pretty much similar. Guitar riffs are almost identical and the sound of the distortion is pretty similar two. Keys, when she sings are used the same way they were used in Nightwish.

metalheads are annoying... they think they know everything about music and that's annoying...
Cause that isn'y hypocrittical in the slightest.

It's not cause I have opinions that I'm pretending to know everything.

And you really have to admit that she isn't playing straight down Opera. Call it pop metal if you want to, call it anything you like, but at least don't say it's opera.

I'll play devil's advocate and note that Tarja has a classical album and a symphonic metal/goth metal album (according to the metal archives).

also she isn't opera. Opera, to put it in layman's term, is basically a play plus an orchestral score. Which is not what Nightwish is, which is why i hate when people call them "opera metal." Operatic vocals are used in all classical music, not just opera.
