Sorry for the double post, but I seriously never thought that my piece would render so many responses. Thank you all, I just hope that the cut-n-paste functions like I hope it would.

I know you said no speed metal, bu I think you might like Running Wild. And since you mentioned Hammerfall, I can give you some other power metal. Perhaps you'd be interested in Stratovarius, Dark Moor, Falconer, Zandelle, or Helloween (though Helloween's first and, imo, best album is speed metal). And for some awesome progressive power metal, you should check out Symphony X. Maybe not their latest album. What I heard from it disappointed me, but all of their other full lengths are very good. Divine Wings of Tragedy and the Odyssey are often considered their best albums. And for more awesome progressive power metal, check out Angra, especially the albums with Edu Falaschi, which start from their fourth album. It's all good, though. And Savatage is a heavy/power metal/prog rock band you might dig.

Not all of the bands mentioned were recently formed, but if any of the ones I named are bands you have not yet heard, then hey, it's new to you, right?

I cannot say anything more than Thank You! Sincerely, and of all my heart!

I approve of this. Speaking of Dio, we never talk about Dio in here. Why is this?

Last week, I went off campus to a place called Tacos de Mexíco with three of my friends for lunch. On the way there, we listened to the best Dio mix CD ever, and I had Rainbow in the Dark stuck in my head for the rest of the week.

Also I listened to some Death and Atheist and I think i'm going to get stuff by them. And before anyone says it, I'm going to check out Cynic too :P

I think it's time I got into death metal, anyways.

I'm not as pissed as everyone else but I will say this. If Ponos feels like taking the condescending dick route it would probably be in his best interest to figure out some way to better articulate his points. There's been a lot of things he's said that I agree with but when you say it like "that's shit don't listen to it lol" it doesn't work as well. Ghoul was a dick but he was also very funny about it.

Im sure at one point in time we all sang 'Holy Diver', but yeah, we never do discuss Dio in great detail :/

Also I listened to some Death

Good. A great band they were indeed, check out Control Denied if you're interested, its basically Death with power metal vocals as nearly everybody puts it.

Yeah Control Denied is awesome. I wouldn't call them power metal vocals myself but I see where people are coming from with that.

Well I'm Idiosyncratic (Idio for short) and I'm one of the Horsemen of this fine establishment. Doom and Stoner is my specialty.

In addition to what Bill mentioned, vedraldviking, check these bands out

Mendoza
High on Fire
OM
Baroness
Viking Skull
Melvins (specifically the Maggot, Houdini, and Stoner Witch)
Black Label Society
Clutch (not metal, but fucking amazing. They're my favorite band)
Grand Magus (very much like Iron Maiden. Considering your tastes, Grand Magus should be a perfect match)
Spiritual Beggars (very similar to Grand Magus)

There's a short list, Ch-ch-ch-check 'em.

Oh, I ain't dumb you know.
In fact I do consider myself as really brilliant when it comes to music. I'm really open to every form of music.

When I first started to listen to metal music, I was really just into Power Metal bands... Edguy, Stratovarius and Nightwish being my favorites at the time.
Then I tried finding some more Power Metal bands. Back in the days I really wasn't into growls and screams, but then I started listenning to Children Of Bodom, Kalmah, Arch Enemy and all the "pop" Melodic Death bands.

I then joinned the Metal Hell. At first I really didn't like this place, I was just not fitting in, and I was just no getting why everyone was constantly bashing Metalcore...

But then, after a year of exploring the metal universe, I realised that there was way too many bands that were just fucking awesome and that I just didn't knew shit about. And I remembered some of you guys were always talking about bands and musicians that I just didn't knew at all.

Can't remember who introduced me to Brutal Death, but when I started listenning to Benighted, some one in here referred me to Kronos and I really fell in love with he genre. I bought myself None So Vile by Cryptopsy and I started listenning to Cannibal Corpse.

Then I heard of very good Black Metal bands, and I learned how to get used to the raw sound of bands like Xasthur and Gorgoroth and even learned how to like it.

Then Ponos mentionned a band named Agalloch, I started listenning to it a little, Falling Snow and Kneel To The Cross were my two favorite songs by them at the beginning.

That's a very short story of my progression into metal, but today I can say that I listen to more than 200 metal bands and that I hope to learn even more.

I didn't like Worm at first, I thought he sounded like he was loosing his breath or something, but on Slit Your Guts, Lichmistress and in fact every single track on None So Vile he brings very interresting elements to the music. Something that the other vocalists of Cryptopsy just couldn't find...

Cryptopsy his awesome... or at least it was before...

And em... Kiddmeizter, thanks for your post, you did something great, not just for me, but for the Metal Hell. You are right about all those random fights we had in here. You said Ponos should leave, but even if he's acting like a dick, he does know some stuff about metal music, the problem being his behavior... if he could fix it, I really do not see any problem with him staying here.

Listenning to right now : God Seed (Twilight Of The Idols) by Gorgoroth

Dio isn´t a very good band, great singer, can´t really write songs. Has made some awesome stuff like Holy diver but most of his albums are pretty mediocre.

No, major arse hangover.

And Holy Diver is mediocre. That little idiot is making music because he needs to get money together to buy blow jobs or something. Not for love and passion of creating music. Blurgh.
