Agreed. It seems every new guy with an excellent list forgets about li'l ol' metal hell.

Also, I would have thought more people here would know Pelican already.

I knew of them, but I hadn't listened before. And I still haven't! I'll get on that when I'm not busy with homework, black metal, and morrowind.

They're really good instrumental sludge. They may have been the first sludge band I liked.

I remember someone showing me a Carpathian Forest riff that Trivium stole on their new album.

I don't know any that aren't most likely already known to you but I'll have a go anyway :)

Sleep Terror

Already heard, quite awesome.

Apocalyptica (Mostly)

Heard them, not to bad, but not really what im looking for, good to listen to when im bored though.

Yngwie J. Malmsteen (Mostly)

He's awesome to, but already have a few songs of his.

Thanks anyway dude.

Seriously, though. Earth.
I said Drone.
But I didn't think SMS was into it so I didn't bother going into specifics.

Im not into Drone, it is true, unless someone finds me a few songs i may like, i may change my mind. But it really doesn't go down well with me.

I'll listen to some of those 'Noise Rock' bands or whatever the genre is called. But the Rock description is turning me off it already.

I think i heard a 'Noise' band lastnight, and i must say it was pretty 'wtf?', unless i was listening to the wrong sort of 'noise'...

Boris and Sunn O))) - The Sinking Belle
That song is ridiculously beautiful and you'll probably like it because of that, but its a good accessable Drone song.

Clips don't do it justice. The whole song together is simply amazing. Most everything about the music is weird but in a great way.

Devil Doll sounds like random and mediocre ideas rather than music, let alone metal music to me.

Listen to the opening riff for BFMV's "Hand of Blood" and Burzum's "War"

FACEPALM :((((((((((((((9

also i got around to listening to Immortal's "Pure Holocaust" and it's pretty good. Nothing special about it, it's standard Norwegian black metal, but there's not a lot else to expect from Immortal. Drums are good though. And Abbath has a good voice.

Not quite a facepalm, but yeah, the album is good, but really, standard Norwegian black metal?

That album is from 93 man, no black metal band were playing like that. Burzum were slow and depressing, Mayhem were basic as fuck, Darkthrone, after their first album I guess, were doing the whole 'lo-fi hypnotic repetition' thing. I do guess Emperor had the same thing going, but, you know. Keyboards. Immortal raped all the competition, and they stand proud to this day as the greatest Norwegian black metal band. \m/

There's so reason the boy can't be introduced to that album though, its fanbabidozee.

Khanate sound good and I've got more Boris stuff to listen to cause I wasn't amazingly impressed with 'Absolutego'. My band mates inform me tha Wormphlegm are great too.
Oh and Earth are sexy :).

New aquisitions:
Summoning - Dol Guldur
Devil Doll - The Girl Who Was... Death
Hooded Menace - Fulfill the Curse

Got Dol Guldur and Fulfill the Curse the other day but didn't mention it... so I am now.

I'll give you that it's not that metal but other than that you should be more specific. You think it's boring apparently but what's random about it? Don't want to seem defensive about it, people have their own opinion's but "it's not music, lol" doesn't tell me much.

Of course I do.

Well according to Wikipedia, several metal sites and many Michael Kiske he is in a band now as the lead singer and the keyboardist/Keytarist and late this year or earlier next year they are going to release their first album which is a bunch of remakes of all the most famous Helloween songs from both his time and Andi's time.

Really? I haven't heard anything about this, but now that I know, I'm curious to hear what this new band sounds like. To be honest, I've never been too bothered with post-Helloween Kiske with the exception of guest appearances, but I should give this new album a try.

Yeah, standard was definitely the wrong word to use. I meant to say something along the lines of quintessential or definitive. standard makes it sound mediocre.

I actually find a lot of similarity between the style that Immortal has consitantly shown throughout thier discography, and De Mysteriis. Hell, Battle in the North has almost the same production!

:Immortal raped all the competition, and they stand proud to this day as the greatest Norwegian black metal band. \m/

I think Sort Vokter and Ulver outdid them in thier short discographys. But immortal is consistant.
