Seriously, though. Earth.

I said Drone.
But I didn't think SMS was into it so I didn't bother going into specifics.

I'll listen to some of those 'Noise Rock' bands or whatever the genre is called. But the Rock description is turning me off it already.

I don't know any that aren't most likely already known to you but I'll have a go anyway :)

Sleep Terror
Apocalyptica (Mostly)

Apocalyptica kind of sold out with their last album... they tried to find some american celebrities to get to sell more albums in the United States.

Yngwie J. Malmsteen (Mostly)

Far Beyong The Sun, ftw.

But if your still looking for good instrumental bands

Liquid Tension Experiment
Blotted Science
Spastic Ink

I also really like the instrumental titles played by Nightrage :

A New Disease Is Born
The Howls Of The Wolves
Solus

Listenning to right now : Evil In You by Kalmah

Srsly you guys, the prog rock and avant-garde fans in here really owe it to themselves to listen to The Girl Who Was ... Death by Devil Doll. Clips don't do it justice. The whole song together is simply amazing. Most everything about the music is weird but in a great way.

Can I join the metal club?

I mostly like black metal. My favs are The Ruins of Beverast, Paysage D'Hiver, Ulver, Blut Aus Nord, Profanatica, Mjolnir, Belketre, Moonblood, Maniac Butcher, Master's Hammer, Gontyna Kry, etc.. i dont like the punkish stuff like Celtic Frost, or Darkthrone, or Absurd, though.

I dont listen to a lot of Death Metal, but i do like Necrvore, Morbid Angel's first album, Demilich, Nocturnus, and Possessed.

I also like the heavierthrash bands, like dark angel, morbid saint, gammacide, morbid scream...

NWOBHM is also good for me. I like Iron Maide, Helloween, Satan, Witchfinder General, Pagan Alter, you know, NWOBHMy stuff.

They're just people whos job it is to tell -core fans to fuck off with a degree of official power and just not opinionated biogtry.

You guys remember Michael Kiske from Helloween in 1993 and earlier I assume.

Well according to Wikipedia, several metal sites and many Michael Kiske he is in a band now as the lead singer and the keyboardist/Keytarist and late this year or earlier next year they are going to release their first album which is a bunch of remakes of all the most famous Helloween songs from both his time and Andi's time.

Apparently the tracks we can expect: I want out, Future world, I'm alive, Dr. Stein, Halloween, Keeper of the Seven Key and ride the sky along with two newer Helloween songs: Perfect Gentleman and As long as I fall

This album is supposed to give both Kiske fans the nostalgia they are craving and to be the foundation of their instrumental and Kiske's older voice before they start making orignal music.

A lot of sites are saying this, and so if its true that album will kick ass.

All though their is still a possibility it's a myth/rumor.

Opinions?

A lot of it's not very rock-y. Like Lightning Bolt. Most noise rock bands are just called noise rock because their songs have a definite song structure (or some semblance thereof). Sonic Youth sound a lot like indie, though.

1. Is that Mike Myers back in the Wayne's World days?
2. He has pretty good hair.
3. He could probably pass as an average Sludge singer, his screaming isn't that lame. Its pretty gutteral.
4. Seriously, he looks like Mike Myers.

Did anyone else know that Bullet for my Valentine ripped of Burzum? It's true.

Listen to the opening riff for BFMV's "Hand of Blood" and Burzum's "War"

also i got around to listening to Immortal's "Pure Holocaust" and it's pretty good. Nothing special about it, it's standard Norwegian black metal, but there's not a lot else to expect from Immortal. Drums are good though. And Abbath has a good voice.

I highly doubt that the guys from BFMV even listen to black metal. They probably just wrote a riff based on the same chord procession (em... I don't know if thats write... we call it "accord" in french)
But your right... its pretty much identical...
You may be right, but em... it sounds weird to me... BFMV ripping Burzum' riffs?

I dunno, Matt Heafy wanted to start a black metal side project or something. And if he listens to black metal, BFMV could too. It's also possible that one of them heard "war" a long time ago and he remembered the riff and thought it was his. I've had that happen to me before, but not when I write songs haha

Yeah but I wouldn't compare Trivium to BFMV. When some guys said that Trivium ripped off some riffs from metal bands, I wasn't even surprised, cause I know what Trivium is. And the big difference between Trivium and BFMV is that Trivium is a kind of Thrashcore band that's trying to sound metal... and BFMV are straight down Metalcore, they do not try to sound like anything else than their own stuff.

But these two riffs really are too similar for it to be a coincidence...
