ah that sucks, dont pay for them, you should just a get a friend with a photography interest to be the bands official photography, use them as roadie help as well

in terms of vocalists tis a difficult one for me but i will give a few of the many favs

Peter Steele (ok maybe a little bit of studio magic now but meh) (type o negative)
Ethereal Magnanimus (Daniel Heiman) (lost horizon)
Famine (peste noire)
Aaron Stainthorpe
Julien Truchan (Benighted)

Erotomania, The Dance of Eternity, Stream of Consciousness , The Ytsé Jam all by Dream Theater.
Anything from Spastic Ink's 'Ink Complete'
Liquid Tension Experiment.
Most Drone is instrumental too. Altar by Sunn O)))/Boris is a fantasticallyfuckingbrilliant.

As three vocals is far too little for me to be happy with I'm going to follow Dentatusaugage's suggestion.

In no order other than alphabetical.
Clean Vocals:
1. Michael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)
2. Garm (Arcturus, etc)
3. Patrick Walker (Warning)

Power Metal Vocals:
1. Russell Allen (Symphony X)
2. Daniel Heiman (Lost Horizon)
3. Michael Kiske... obviously (Helloween)

Death Metal Vocals:
1. Michael Åkerfeldt... again (Opeth)
2. Matthew Chalk (Psycroptic)
3. Chuck Schuldiner (Death)

And I don't listen to enough Black Metal to have opinions on their vocalists.

I'd pick Chris Barnes before I'd pick Chuck.

ME NEITHER :D:D:D:D

I can offer this. Gaahl is shit. Varg is shitish. When he's in a good mood I guess it works pretty well. No one ever complains about his vocals on Hvis Lyset Tar Oss or Filosofem. But the earlies, jesus.... War is the worst Burzum song for a number of reasons, mainly poor songwriting, but his bad vocal take just magnifies it.

The proof is in the pudding.

His voice breaks, he starts choking..... Urgh.

im sure we had the whole favourite vocal, bass, guitar, drums, everything topic recently but ah well. in metal no one really stands out for clean vox for my tastes except reagers and mike patton. my favourites are sludge and black metal vocals. so johnny morrow from iron monkey, mike williams from eyehategod and dead from mayhem are favourites.
my all-time favourite singers tho are maynard james keenan, tim eriksen from american folk band cordelias dad and chris cornell when he was in soundgarden (in my opinion his voice got a bit shite after that.) other than that i just respect people who sing naturally, preferably with some trace of their own accents. which is why proper folk and blues music is some of my favourite music whilst opera, pop and that whiney generic mid-atlantic accent you get in pop-punk, emo n all that really piss me off.

it depends on what you dislike about black metal. if it's the vocals, you're out of luck. but instrumental-wise, summoning is different in that the guitars are lower in the mix than usual and the synths and orchestration are on top of them. the drumming is also slow and epic, with a lot of reverb, rather than constant blastbeats

I don't mind the vocals in black metal in general since it suits the music. However, from how you described the music itself, I'm now interested to hear what they're like since hey, I never know if I like it or not until I try it. :)

We'll be the judges of that.

Post ten Metal bands, and depending on whether they're considered true metal or not, you'll be let in to our very exclusive organisation.

And when I say 'very exclusive organisation', I mean a collection of bored teenagers (and Bill) who bitch and whine at each other and occasionally discuss metal.

That dance video is so catchy though. I've been listening to it on repeat for hours :P.

Also I checked out Merzbow. Not Metal, but does anyone else like that kind of stuff (Noise, that is).

same, i dont mind merzbow but i prefer more rock orientated noise bands than the avant garde/industrial etc. types; lightning bolt, punky stuff like jezus lizard or freaky psychedelics like comets on fire & acid mothers temple for example

Checking out as we speak, im starting off with Planet X first, then ill work by what youtube gives me. Planet X is pretty damn sexy. Except maybe just tone down the use of keyboard/synthesizers/whatever the fuck is making to much of them crazy space-out sounds.

The only Cannibal Corpse albums I've heard thoroughly are Eaten Back to Life, Butchered at Birth, Vile, Gallery of Suicide and Kill. I thought Eaten Back to Life was the best out of what I listened to.
